I disagree. I had mine cranked to the max and it wasn't enough. The oil filled hydraulic cylinder loses resistance as the fluid (oil) heats uip. The fluid becomes less viscous and the resistance decreases. After 10 minutes the maximum resistance feels more like 2/3's the resistance it had when cold. The good machine is the one with two cylinders, the top of the line Kettler.
Interesting! I wonder if yours has a different fluid/oil in it (or more or less oil) than the one I got. I don’t seem to have the fading resistance issue. inconsistency in a product like this wouldn’t surprise me at all…these oil filled shocks are super low quality. Thank you for sharing your experience!! Valuable information for anyone considering this thing. It’s a shame they didn’t use some other form of resistance on it. Other than the terrible shock it’s a great machine.
I love the name of your channel and your honest, down to earth demeanor as you do your review. Your video was very fun to watch and it helped me make my decision. Thank you so much.
You had me sold in the first 30 seconds as that was my thought exactly but needed other opinions. It’s a more realistic rowing movement. Thankyou for the video
Absolutely it is, so much easier on the joints, transfers all the work to the muscles you can FEEL it's better. Thank you for your comment and happy rowing!
I bought this exact machine a few years ago. I love this machine and it still works great but I'm only a light user of it. Couldn't say how long it'd last for a daily, heavy user. I'd buy it again if mine broke.
I've owned my Sunny rower for a few years, and love it. The cylinder does not show signs of leaking, but does lose resistance after about 10 minutes, which is about the maximum I do, but once it cools down, it is back to full resistance. And I do love the movable arms, gives you a great range of motion and many different workout options.
Hi!!!!! Just found your channel specifically because of this product. Thanks for the great review. I've been looking into getting back into fitness after a rough time with depression and thought a rowing machine would be the way to go. Nothing too serious, just wanna get moving again! I've been looking at reviews on Reddit and it's kind of discouraging how a lot of them just shit on more budget-friendly products and encourage you to spend more for features you don't even need. So thank you again for this no bs, unbiased review!! 💖
Hi!!! Life is crazy, I get it. Funny enough I rowed my way through the same thing during locked down it helped a lot! So you’re on the right track this will really help. I had a Rower called the fitness reality MR magnetic rower and some war vet dudes were commenting They were finding it for 150 or $200, which is a great deal. Mine cost me 500 bucks though. If you’re looking for something in the $100 range, get the sun, health and fitness row and ride trainer 077 model I think. That thing is amazing. You will feel so good after using it physically and mentally. Hope that helps and have an awesome day! Thank you for your nice words I really appreciate them!
Great question! I’d go with the row n ride because it doesn’t have the oil shock. Similar workout tbh. Burning calories does help one lose weight but counting calories (eating less) is so much more effective in my experience
@@TheLastHonestInfluencer will do thanks for the heads up. Thinking about buying a yoga mat or something to put underneath so if it does leak my floor is safe lol. Rowing while watching this video rn 💪
Probably the best exercise machine for most people. Cheap, easy, effective, fits anywhere. I do wonder if you could replace the hydraulic piston with resistance bands of some kind.
If it weren’t for the shock I’d agree with you. The row n ride 077 original is my best pick for home machine. $100, small and light and will punish your legs and cardio in under 5 mins if you go hard. Thanks for your comment!
@@TheLastHonestInfluencer I do use it regularly. I however do not use it more than 15 minutes at a time with out giving it a chance to cool down. I do other exercises while its cooling. I let it cool 3-5 mins then go back to it. When I read up on it and the manual somewhere it mentioned the heating of the oil causing leaking so I try to be mindful of it.
That would be handy! Very motivating. I’ve not used a rowing machine ever with that functionality to be honest, only bikes and treadmills. Sorry I’m not more of a help with that
My shock offers almost no resistance. They sent a new one but still little resistance. It's good to 12 and just keeps going. Should it have a hard stop at 12?
Bummer. Unfortunately this is very common with these shocks. It should not have a hard stop at 12. Mine didn’t…but also mine eventually leak so at least yours doesn’t do that?
Shockingly NO! I did the same thing! Closet thing I could find to ‘high end’ was the fitness reality 5000MR rower. It’s not perfect but it’s pretty good.
@@TheLastHonestInfluencer thanks for the response! That actually helped me find a few results. Its so strange that more manufacturers aren’t interested in making full motion rowers. Seems like it should be normal to more of these rowers.
Not too much, this one and the other sunny machine I had like it both only leaked about 1tsp of oil over a couple months. Not all at once but in drops so if you put a towel or old shirt under it, it should be fine. The machine gets easier to use as the oil leaks out is the big problem.
I would advise neither of these machines to be honest. I would buy a fixed arm, magnetic resistance, rowing machine. I found that want to be way better than any of these.
Great video..thanks. If the cylinder happens to fail can you get a replacement? Do they sell replacement parts in general for this machine. Thanks again.
Understood, after watching your Row-N-Ride review I may have to give that a try. I'm around 275 lbs so I have some work to do. Hopefully it's sturdy enough. Thanks for the info.@@TheLastHonestInfluencer
@izop134 it’s sturdy enough for sure. It might not feel that way at first but after a bunch of workouts you’ll trust it. Same fasteners as the ‘beefier’ models and they are the weak link so the thick tubes are just for show. Great machine. Using it and calorie counting during lock down and walking I lost 35lbs in 3 months. You can do it too!
