I'm really happy with myself because I came up with that method by myself many years ago. I have found that if you grab the whole joint, you can feel it before you see it. That's both components that make the joint. Great channel!

Lmao I changed that tie rod bar YESTERDAY at work 😂😂 my bosses buddy hit something (says he doesn't remember hitting anything) and it bent it into the front diff cover.

If either of those lower tie rods go bad in the salt belt, it gets all 5 pieces. I've replaced a bunch of those bars simply because the tie rods will not come out.

@@dachine86 I'd never be a mechanic if I lived in the rust/salt belt.

Most F-250 King Ranch pickups have four Rancho shocks. Mine has six. Where are the other two? On the front. I do NOT have a stock steering system. Truck is not lifted or anything, but this was replaced early on. My dealer and lead diesel tech love it.

I have replaced that tube one time on a family member's vehicle. Both tie rod ends needed replaced and it was an older truck with a fair amount of rust. Rather than fight the rust to try and remove the 2 ends, I just replaced the entire assembly.

Yup. Unless you have a real torch, large tools and the room, just do the whole thing. The time you spend pulling the tie rod ends, you would have earned enough money to buy it anyway.

The linkage that goes from steering knuckle to steering knuckle is called the relay rod (as per Hunter engineering).

My Ram is very similar the way it is designed and it too wore out and had severe death wobble even though it never saw oversized wheels/ tires. Had to replace all the tie rod ends and the steering stabilizer but went ahead and upgraded them to aftermarket because it already needed an alignment due to failed ball joints that was throwing off the camber and I wouldn't have been able to adjust my steering wheel centering because of Rams so called fix where they welded the drag link during a recall. The track bar bushings were also worn out but Ram doesnt sypport replacement of just the bushings so I had to replace the whole thing. While doing these repairs I also found a failing wheel hub on the driver side. All of this at only 110,000 miles. Im currently in the market to replace this truck and I'm looking at Fords this time, I miss my F150, it was a really good truck.

Who has been doing the maintenance on this truck? I guess they can't see grease zerks . Or check the steering at regular oil & filter changes. No maintenance leaves you broke down.

Buying the drag link through most suppliers, they call it an inner tie rod.

I believe RepairLink calls those lower components the spindle rod and spindle rod ends. MicroCat and Ford ECat descriptions are a little more vague. Sometimes its "Link" or "End" and that's it. Depends on the age of the truck. The one that always confuses me is the Track bar. It's a different base # of course and it's found under suspension most of the time instead of steering, which makes sense. However, Ford has been changing their part numbers with new supercessions and now they fall under a new base and I can never find them. Sometimes it isn't until you try locating them in OEC that you find a new part number for these things and you had it in stock all along. 😂

Needing help... 2013 f250 6.2L crew cab lariat. Replaced all of those components up to the pitman arm. Severe death wobble went away but i still get pretty bad vibration at 35, 51, 65-75 mph. I've taken it to 3 mechanics and no one can figure it out. I've scanned through hundreds of videos with no luck. Can someone direct me to an answer. Ready to sell this truck if i can't fix it.

Ford has had the good ole death wobble since 1989. I first started driving wreckers when I turned 19 we had 2 brand new super duties with 17foot steel bed aatac rollbacks first time it happened scared the hell out of me!!! Great work trucks but dangerous as hell when it happens!!!

I have really enjoyed watching ur helpful videos. I have a question, I'm about to change all of my front steering components and wanted to get opinions. Should I replace with all OEM motorcraft parts or are there some better parts in lieu of for the value?
@jasonkubitz9410
@jasonkubitz9410 9 месяцев назад
I would replace with something beefier like Apex or something like that. I already replaced all mine with Motorcraft twice in 70K miles. This is one department Ford skimped on. I never had a death wobble since I run a Fox through shaft stabilizer. I can definitely feel my ball joints all loose again though. I'm going Apex when money flow is better.

I have an Apex drag link and it is a very stout quality piece. Will be using their tie rod bar when the time comes. I have a Kryptonite track bar as well. It's also a nice piece. I normally don't mix parts but I couldn't pass up the price on the track bar.

On my Ram 2500 it is almost identical. On the passenger side where the tie rod and drag link secure to the steering knuckle it is different and my track bar has bushings on both sides rather than a ball joint on the passenger side. Ram also had a recall on their steering because the drag link would just separate unexpectedly so their solution was to weld it (which is great when it's time to do an alignment). At only 110,000 miles all of the tie rod ends were worn out and needed replacement and the bushings in the track bar were worn out but Ram doesn't service the bushings so I had to replace the whole bar instead of just the bushings. I also went ahead and just upgraded to aftermarket parts for the drag link because it also needed an alignment because my camber was out due to failing ball joints, with that aftermarket steering kit came an upgraded steering dampener because it also failed and was leaking due to the death wobble my truck had. So yeah, obviously it's just Ford that is made with cheap junk.

@joshp.2237 my dad told years ago. That one day, you'll see all these trucks will be made basically the same. At the same plant . None of them are truly trying to be the best or better than the next one. Because if that was the case all of them would be better due to competion .And if one was truly better by far, that's the one that would sell the most. But I do know from my experience that Ford is leading the way as far as junk trucks go. I've personally had better luck with Rams . And I speak from years of actually working these trucks on a 2000-acre citrus Grove and big acrea vegetable farms.
