The Super Mega Tech Super Pocket is a portable gaming device that comes preloaded with 12 classic arcade games from Capcom and Taito. It also supports Evercade cartridges, which gives you access to hundreds more games.
In this video, I'll be taking a look at the Super Pocket and giving you my thoughts on its features, performance, and overall value.
The Super Pocket performs well and is able to run all of the preloaded games smoothly. The Evercade cartridges also work flawlessly. The buttons are responsive and the screen is clear and bright. We also do a teardown to see what CPU the Super Pocket is using.

I have the Capcom version and it has been fun to just pick up and play short sessions with evercade carts. My major gripe is that there does not seem to be a way to adjust brightness...in 2023.

KiKi KaiKai in the Taito Collection might sound unfamiliar to many, but is the prequel to Pocky & Rocky, which is an excellent "shooter" and one in my favorites list.

I actually wish that there's some kind of clamp shell like controller like a retroid flip for your mobile phone so you can slide it into your pocket and bag and flip it open like a 3DS to play games.

I like these handhelds but like others said I wish I could adjust the brightness and remap the buttons. Also, the back buttons could've been placed slightly higher to catch my index fingers a bit more naturally.

Speaking on retro games any chance you’ll take a peak at the orange pi zero 3 and 2W? There’s like 0 coverage on them and would love to know your thoughts on using them for retro gaming and how they compare to something like the raspberry pi zero 2w.

Ironically, I think there were a few out there that had the Taito shell with the Capcom games accidentally. I think the folk with those sent them back to be fixed, since these were the twin special edition packs.

I just got my Taito edition one (since my EXP already has the CAPCOM games) and was looking so forward to it but... but the D-Pad... doesn't work ._. ... diagonals usually don't work, sometimes it doesn't register main directions when changing them... I read it somewhere that initial batches had issues... I don't want to have to send it back and wait months again to be able to play -_- It feels like as if the middle plastic peg wasn't even there because you can just push in 'every' direction at the same time. I've reached out to support hopefully they can help. But if anyone has any idea please let me know.

Hi, my Taito edition has the same issue you describe. Did you send it back? I've just sent Megatech a video highlighting the issue and will see what they say. Surely not all of them have this issue but who knows.

*SEGA!* It would be great if Sega came back with a handheld since they're remaking many of their older IPs like JSR, Crazy Taxi, and Shinobi. Sega needs to return to the hardware business. Their catalog of arcade classics is huge. Make all their titles EXCLUSIVE to that system similar to what Nintendo does. Stop helping the competition. Sega's last handheld was not the Game Gear but the Nomad, the portable Genesis with a TV out years before Switch did it. Sega can also create an online shop similar to what Nintendo and Sony have done. Create that ecosystem that Apple has done with iPod and iPhone for years thanks to things like iTunes, App Store, and iMessage. Sega came from the era when physical stores and copies mattered but left the hardware business before more app stores and online stores from gaming companies started popping up. It would be great if Sega returns to making hardware because I found them to be the most innovative in them. Sega was too ahead of their own time. I would love a Sega handheld that's more powerful than the Steam Deck and the next Switch. I truly miss Sega. We now have smartphones and cheap retro handhelds that can emulate every single one of their consoles and handhelds. The only one we can't emulate are their arcade boards like Model 3 and NAOMI.

The Taito one has more replayability IMHO and better color scheme. Blaze Entertainment/Evercade/HyperMegaTech need to implement multi tier rapid fire in their controller software. On the VS console, you can use a Mayflash joystick or HORI controller with rapid fire to help with shooters. Good video overview! 8)

Pretty nice, but I'm eyeing up that ARC-S. I tried using my new PS Vita 1000, but it's not powerful enough to run everything smooth, and I actually want something isn't as nice as the Vita that can be thrown into a bag with a case.

The problem with these handhelds is that with the very tiny amount of games onboard, they are just too expensive. The money should be made on the backend with the cartridges. £$15 is a more realistic entry price to entice people to purchase the cartridges.

I don’t know. I think 60 dollars is more than reasonable to have the real games. No piracy here so you know the developers are getting their fair share.

@@nicwelch Technically all the developers did was browse for the arcade versions and threw them onto a device capable of running them. I`ll say this still might make for a decent Christmas present under the tree for those retro gamers out there

@@genobee9385 Not strictly true, Bubble Bobble has been adjusted so you can get to all endings in 1 player. The Super Pockets only exist because Taito and Capcom won't license cartridges to Evercade, they would only allow baked in ROMs. Similarly the Bandai carts don't work on the Vs because Bandai refused to license them for use in a home console.

If you are gifting it to someone who is not technically inclined, then this is better. Or you don't like pirating games. But having said that, as charming as I think these are, I would 100% get a R36S, RG35XX, or a miyoo mini plus, or even a telescopic phone controller, over these evercade devices and cartridges.

Part of me loves this concept, and the other part of me thinks most people should just get a R36S, Miyoo Mini Plus, or a RG35XX. Or better yet, get a Gamesir G8 Galileo telescopic phone controller and use your phone since it is a million times more powerful than all these devices.

These specialized handhelds that only have a few games are not worth buying. Why pay more to get less, when you can pay less and get more?
