The Super Soco CUX is a 50cc equivalent electric scooter that can be ridden on a CBT at 16 or on a AM licence you may have from you car licence already. It is defiantly not made for long range with its small size and small removable battery but its suggested range of 40 miles is very useable in town and local roads. The question is what range will you really get if you ride it like you know you will!

In regard to losing performance at low battery levels, as well as software, you can lose some performance because the voltage of the pack is lower, so the max energy you can draw from the pack is lower. This is more noticeable on smaller battery packs. For example on my Zero with its 15kwh pack, the cut off starts around 15 percent.

Thirty miles on a 1.8kwh battery is pretty impressive. Thats about 16 miles per kwh. By way of example my bike gets 6miles per kwh, and the average electric car gets around 3-4 miles. Obviously those are at higher speeds, but even so that's an efficient little bike.

Recently I bought that scooter, almost new at half price. I have to say it is the great machine for city commuting - fast enough and very nimble. In my tests of range I was able to do between 60-70 km per one charge, on max. speed (55km/h - unrestricted version). When slowed to 40km/h it was even more - about 80km. I don't understand, why you do less. Maybe battery isn't new, temperature is low, brakes are poorly adjusted or tires are not inflated properly. Also the key to max. range is flat terrain and smooth/fluent movement, because most energy is burned in acceleration. And obviously weight of driver - I weight about 80kg.

You know I am talking in miles?

@@spicy110 OK, I live in Slovakia and we use km. I assumed that every one can recalculate it in miles. But I can do it for clarification: 60-70km = 37-43miles 80km = 50miles Also I want to thank you for your videos about SOCO - before I bought this machine I watched almost every video I found including yours...

This video was a long while back and I do not remember the figs I got, I just knew you were talking in km. If you had already done the connections sorry didn't realise, that is why I asked. We do not use km here so not second nature. As to why did I get less, no idea I am 15kgs more than you and 6'4 so I'm not exactly the idea size for this small machine, Maybe I'm just way more heavy handed.

@@spicy110 little update - few days back was a cold weather (only up to 15 °C) and my "electric consumption" rise noticeably. Back calculated range was only about 54km (34miles) with same riding style, so range is strongly temperature dependent. I think it is mainly related to higher air density and also battery temperature plays some role.

I understand for torque reasons you don't need gears, but wouldn't they help for range? Also why is nobody making "a battery for all" that can be swapped out at the garage so it's the same time "filling up" as ice. Just get Tesla to produce a universal range of batteries that could be leased out to companies (x number of batteries, not individual ones as that would cause pandemonium) I've thought this for years and don't understand why it hasn't happened yet, it would create a whole new sector of jobs

There already are swappable batts in some countries but not here. I made a video on this subject recently ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-xjrwuPWOt5I.html

Gears don't help with range, least not on the electric bikes, like the Empulse, that were released with gears. In some cases a gearbox can even reduce rangem due to the extra weight and friction.

@@spicy110 now I feel like a bad Patreon 😅. There's lot's in that video that I haven't thought of. I've decided that the best way is to have a giant capacitor with instant recharge because that is safe, no danger whatsoever.
@CuriousGoose
@CuriousGoose 2 года назад
@@CodeZombie isn't the biggest drain on the battery high rpm? Gears would significantly lower the rpm and thus extend the range. Also just because one company failed doesn't mean the idea is wrong.

2200 pounds is too much for a 50cc. That's double what you'd except to pay for a Chinese scooter. On par with a decent 125. Like the akuma or the tnt. More than the assault too Or you could get a decent second hand bandit for that. Sorry but these electric bike companies are out of their minds charging so much. And why wouldn't you get a 125 cc maxi scooter like the lexmoto apollo for the same money if your dead set on a scooter.
