Torque is the difference. This is a diesel engine, so the torque is twice as much as the HP. It might have 1400hp, but it also has 2800ft/tq, which is an insane amount. At the same time that i-6 with 2k HP probably has half the torque as it does HP.

@@chieftron I'm not talking about diesel vs. gas. Look up YT vids out there... tons of I-6 turbo diesel (not get into this brand name vs. that brand name here) that made 2000 HP. There even one that they pushed it beyond 2000+ hp and blew up. Perhaps, V8 is not ideal (horsepower-wise) configuration here...

@@kbnguy Comparing this to the inlines (Cummins) in terms of top horsepower it’s not something you can really compare to something like a super stock pull truck running triple turbos or a common rail Cummins like Shawn Bacas or Derek Rose. The main goal of this engine is to make power right off idle, where the supercharger comes into play as this throttle response is ideal in a monster truck application. The supercharger makes that instant power before lighting the turbos. Anyone that has seen these big power Cummins knows that it takes a ton of time, proper load, or the assistance of nitrous etc to get the chargers lit up. So while banks isn’t going for any horsepower records, he is going for a diesel application that responds and reacts closer to a blown alcohol big block. If you’ve ever seen the Pikes Peak Freightliner he built using a 14 liter super-turbo’d Detroit Diesel that made 2400hp/4000lb ft of torque, this engine is similarly set up. With Pikes Peak having 156 turns, that instant power of the supercharger allowed that big rig to come out of those turns without the severe turbo lag that had plagued that truck previously.

@@DanEvan 1- You just confirm what I said... 2- Yes, we know the difference between what supercharge and turbo charge will do. thx! 3- Compare 14L with similar set up to 7.1 (or 6.7 for that matter) is like compare turkey to chicken size but I get your point, linear torque! Banks, no doubt, is a brilliant man and even more so as a marketer/supplier... As long as any demands there will be supply for it! V8 diesel in fact still relevant in consumer market...
