I love it when Captain inserts himself into the shot without mentioning it. It's like he's explaining their editing techniques while simultaneously mocking it. Like a "look what I can do". It's so sarcastically done, I love it.

I always think it’s so impressive how he manages to place himself in shots, or visually deconstruct scenes when all he has to work with is a shoddy quality compressed internet video. Like he must have to spend ages degrading his recorded footage and dealing with blocky compression artefacts to match the source when a VFX studio (by comparison) would always have the luxury of raw high def footage to work with.

I love how these videos look like they're normal youtube videos, then randomly CD throws in professional level special effects just to show he can.

The light switch scene was suspect because it has a switch cover. Reason I say that it because the cover is installed after the drywall has been placed.

Loved the end where he simultaneously skewered the ad agency while warmly complimenting his fan.

Marvin could have just called dude perfect and they would have actually done them even if it took a thousand shots

It cut away after like 3 seconds but the email/dm joke was my favorite part of this video with the differences between how he writes the email versus the dm to the company

So all it takes for the Captain to notice you is a message of help to fully debunk a viral vid... and also a well thought out and executed video showing your own thoughts on how its been faked.

This video, much like others you've done, is so informative and painstakingly exhaustive, that it should be required watching on advanced VFX artist courses. Great job CD.

The fact that I've seen the video like 5 times and this is the first time I've even bothered to look at the windows in the background shows this is actually a non-effective ad campaign for that company. Until this video, of course.

I worked with an ad company once that produced an ad where someone bounced a basketball on his head over and over while taking off shirts that had different messages on them, ending with a shot of him bouncing it into the basket. Know how they faked that? They didn't. According to the director, it only took a few shots. You can hear them all cheering in the ad. They left that in as a sound effect. They also produced ads with visual effects, of course. That just wasn't one of them. I worked with a guy who built a motor to spin to Tostitoes chip like a basketball. On that Tostitoes commercial, they also had a continuity specialist come in to re-set the bowl of chips after every take so it looked right. She was adjusting the salsa with a toothpick. I was both impressed and amused.

Captain D, always humble, unique, and genuine. I like your channel because you focus so much on quality. From the face painting to the mysterious character nature- you remind me of how good the old RU-vid used to be. Your quality-depth inspires me to stay true to my viewers and content production.

Damn this dudes gotta be one of the most passionate and hard working at what he does. I understand very little of the complexity and yet i can still grasp just how labor intensive his vids must be.

I always love coming back to this channel because it is nowadays one of the rarest channels that are solely dedicated to pure, innocent entertainment. Whereas the majority of other RU-vidrs have abandoned their original content in search for drama related crap, calling out other RU-vidrs for the sake of even more drama and doing shitty, click-baiting challenges, CaptainDisillusion has remained true to his content and fanbase.

Its a common editing practice to use a command like "wiggle" in after effects to "add life" to a static, or 'locked off', shot. Used subtly it can make a shot a little more visually interesting, used too much and you get a ridiculous motion sickness inducing transformers-esque mess. Of course, its also a powerful tool to hide VFX ;)
