Clark has mentally conditioned himself to hold back, to a degree that even Supergirl has often been seen as being more powerful in circumstances. However once he cuts loose, he no longer focuses on reducing his strength but on how to apply it, thus he is able to take on the corupted forms of these two so quickly.

I BELIEVE that Supergirl actually absorbs sunlight on a cellular level more efficiently, thus in theory making her more powerful per mass, but Superman is still a massive dude with WAY more muscle than her. Quantity v quality if you will.

Hmm biggest plot armor in all comics is Batman. This story line of the batman who laughs is pretty silly, all the alternate batman were. That they could take on all of the dc heroes is just story drivel. These critters have a weakness to nth metal like a kryptonian to kryptonite. Yet not a single person uses that...really. if batman who laughs was staring in my face and I possessed powers I would take hawk girls made, beat him till his face looked like it was pushed through a cheese grater then run it through where the light dont shine. @Tsuna Dragneel they used the fact that noone, none of the heroes would really attempt to fight back. That one unpowered guy would b able to drop them all before they could do something about it. I get it a surprise would work on some, however sooner or later mistakes r made regardless. In these worlds where batman killed all others, not one hero ever won. Not once did batman make a mistake, not once did a hero get the jump on him. I'm sorry I never buy into that prepared at all times bs, that's plot armor.

Except against Ulysses. Ulysses took everything Superman had and kept coming after him. It wasn't until Superman used all of his Sun radiation on Ulysses and did that Bomb thingy, that causes Supes to lose his powers. Even then Ulysses was not defeated. He was stopped, but still not defeated.

@@kingsolomon.8721 A lot of beings in DC could. Including, but not limited to, our favourite devil, Lucifer Morningstar (comic, not show, even though show Lucifer could do a lot to Superman as well - if he takes a magical weapon, Maze's blades would be enough).
The problem is they do tend to depower other heroes to make Superman look better. Shazam is canonically FASTER than Superman and about as fast as Wally West Flash. He is on par with Superman in terms of Strength and even more so in durability (As he can be turned insideout and suffer fatal wounds without dying) In Injustice that was Billy that Superman kills, not Shazam.(Its been 5 years and they state billy was like 14 or so in year 1. So he would be 19 so look like an adult)

The trouble with writing Superman like this is that it plays into the idea that superman is 100% boring as fuck. This notion of Superman having Infinite+ power and making him always holding back does mean that if evil does anything, its because Superman lets it happen. Darkseid enslaving worlds...Superman approved because according to this notion Superman is infinite times stronger than Darkseid he is just always holding back its nonsense. Superman should not have been able to casually defeat two of the strongest beings in DC without even trying.
Is good to see Superman finally uses his superspeed which he rarely use in a fight to speed blitz shazam and supergirl before they can retaliate. That's how you win a fight. Quickly attack your opponent while their guard is down before they can fightback.

Yep, never piss a gentle man off to the point where they snap, lol. I knew this huge guy in high school. He was 6'6" 305lbs, a bit overweight but still solid as a rock. Football coach convinced him to tryout for football.. got cut on the 3rd day because he didn't have the aggression necessary and got pushed around a bit. Another big guy on the team(6'3" 250lbs) decided he was pathetic and began to harass this dude every day at school. One day in the parking lot he took the bullying to far and the gentle giant snapped. Picked the smaller guy clean off the ground by his throat and slammed him on his back into the hood of a car. Crumpled the hood instantly with a thunderous boom and shattered the windshield. Smaller guy, sneered angrily and punched the giant in the face while he was being choked on the hood. The punch did nothing but piss the giant off even worse and he screamed at the top of his lungs, lifted him again and slammed him into the hood again. I saw the other dudes face go from sneering anger to absolute terror in that one instant. He realized he had picked a fight with a gargantuan berserker in sheeps clothing. The end result was not pretty either. He almost got beat within an inch of his life. He was in the hospital for 4 days afterwards.

One of Superman greatest powers is holding back his powers. We will get Injustice or the recent story from Dark Multiverse where Lois got his powers and not holding back. She killed almost all DC supervillains including god-tier characters like Ares, Black Adam and Batman 🙃 the buffer from Superman wrath and the universe total distraction are his earth totems(people like the Kents, Lois and Jon) . Batman's bravery, when against Superman, is based on his fear of, but also trust in, Superman, and that Superman will for the most part be in control of himself. Because we all know damn well that Superman can take down Batman with just his little finger faster than Batman can think, even with all the prep time in the world.
Everyone always talks about how Batman always wins, but a lot of that is that superman always places a limit on himself, if he wanted he could find where bats is hiding then yeet an entire continent into space, or use super speed to create a mile wide vacuum around Batman, basically Batman always wins not only because he knows supermans weakness and how to exploit them, but also his mental limit, the line in the sand superman draws in the between himself and the rest of the world.
The original "Batman can beat Superman in a fight" comic is 'Dark Knight Returns' by Frank Miller. What everyone seems to forget is that Batman "won" that one by having a *heart attack* in the middle of the fight. They also forget that in the third book of that storyline, Superman fights five other, younger, "stronger" Kryptonians, *including his own daughter by Wonder Woman* and beats them all while Batman watches. Batman's reaction? "That sonovabitch... I thought I'd mastered the art of combat... he's striking before he even finishes dodging their blows... all these years... he's been *sandbagging.*"
It really makes you understand why Batman is sometimes so cautious and afraid of Superman. In the flip of a switch he got so pissed that he decimateded two VERY powerful individuals without saying a word, the son of krypton really isn't someonne you want to fight when it comes to his love for Lois and his son John.
The thing about Superman getting angry. He fights at about 1% to 10% of his power, to avoid hurting people, damaging city’s, you know destroy the solar system by accident etc. So when he decides to cut loose it’s scary.
For real. Supes basically put evilfied Shazam & Supergirl in their place within approximately five-to-ten seconds. And Gordon is acting smug because he thinks Superman is _cutting loose?_ Senile jackass.

Its just bad writing. Superman is the character they wank off the most doing this. Where they pretend he has infinite abilities and power but he doesn't. The trope of "Holding back" Is literally just the excuse they use to let him beat up other heroes he shouldn't be able to just easily defeat. I lie my this issue . Many People claim that supergirl and shazam are more powerful than superman , but that’s not the case . We seen so many things in both animated movies, comics , and series of how powerful superman really in this one finally let’s loose and stops holding back his speed and his strength for a couple moments and this is superman we’re talking about here , he’s faster shazam and strong than supergirl . Superman is one of the top 5 fastest beings in the dc universe and the top 5 strongest characters too. Supergirl and shazam aren’t close to his level , but it’s only because their reckless with their power while superman was taught to hold back .

Not true. Shazam is faster than Superman. We know this because of multiple Crisis events Shazam has always been shown as FASTER he is nearly able to catch Wally Flash when he was running as full speed. So no this is just a case of them depowering heroes to make Superman look cool. Nothing else. Shazam is Faster and more durable (Surviving wounds that would kill a Kryptonian like being turned inside out) and Supergirl is stronger than Superman normally because she absorbs sunlight better than he does. Also take into account these two are under control and not fighting with clear heads. So Superman should be able to win through skill not brute strength. Using how he knows they fight to defeat them. But the writers are lazy and just went "Nope he is just suddenly stronger" throwing away literal decades of canon for a cheap scene.

The problem is that its all just the DC Wank Force. They depower other heroes to make Superman look stronger by comparison. For example Shazam is MUCH faster than Superman this has been shown numerous times and its why only Shazam could try to capture Wally West because he has speed near comparable. Superman is only about as fast as Barry when he is holding back. DC just tends to write every other hero as if they are a mentally challenged four year old with the average power of one when facing off against Superman.

Shazam has for decades been shown to be the faster of the two (Shazam and Superman) and more durable because he is magical and thus has magical hax to survive lethal wounds (being turned inside out for example) but they throw away decades of canon established abilities to make a cool looking fight. Same goes for Supergirl, for over a decade they have shown she is STRONGER than Clark but less experienced. The stupid trope of "He is holding back" is bullshit. I could claim Batman could defeat Superman in hand to hand combat, but he is just holding back. And its about as sensical as saying Superman can beat everyone effortlessly he just doesnt because he isholding back. This would have been a great time to have a GOOD writer involved in the project. Have Clark know these two, know their fighting styles and defeat them through skill and mastery of his own abilities while they (Being controlled) do not have the same they have just brute power. Showing that with experience, skill, and mastery of ones self you can even defeat opponents with superior numbers and powerful abilities. But nope they just wrote "Nope secretly Clark is stronger than everyone ever and he just wins"

The next person writing Shazam could have him fold every Olympian god with no effort and then rip Zod in two like it was ripping a sheet of paper. Would you then be saying "Well Shazam can just do that" No you would be saying "What the fuck where did this come from!" Consistency in the storytelling is important its how readers can determine what the stakes are. They tend to make superman extremely BORING in situations like this because if Superman is stronger than everything, faster than everything, and nothing can ever hurt or effect him then where are 0 stakes to an encounter like this. Its not at all an intense scene if a dozen versions of Darkseid show up if you know Superman is a billion times faster, stronger, and more durable and can casually beat them all without even trying.

Superman has actually rarely BEATEN Darkseid one on one but when he has it’s been extremely satisfying. IF a dozen darkseids show up and superman somehow wins THEN people are gonna call so much bull (unless it’s superman prime). The writers arnt consistent but they know the characters limits and only push past them ENOUGH to keep it believable. In terms of THIS it’s been stated as canon that Supergirl “has the potential” to be much stronger than Superman and Shazam is definitely on par. We’ve seen both do insane things just like superman (Examples: Shazam punched a black hole INTO existence and Supergirl survived taking the red lantern ring off). Superman is superman so the FUN part here IS the non consistency because if you know a lot about all three of these characters and not just about superman you’ll go into this honestly not knowing what will happen. Or to put it in your way “not knowing what the writers will do”. That’s what makes Superman winning so interesting because this is now Canon just like all their past feats.
Just imagine for a moment, a Superman who will beat a remorseless supervillain until they are crippled and broken. A Superman who is sociopathic enough to rend limbs off the screaming torso of Zod. A Superman who will rip Brainiac apart until he is alive but unable to do anything. You name the supervillain, he doesn’t send the remorseless ones to a prison - he shuts them down to within an inch of their lives and then torments them until they find some remorse or he gets tired of making them hurt. Then, he either lets someone rehabilitate them or puts them in suspended animation respectively. For every non powered villain and the tragic villains that want to rehabilitate, Superman works with them as the boyscout he has always been. For the few that will never feel remorse…Superman goes Punisher on them. Thoughts?

This one particularily is the conclusion but there is a supergirl infected and shazam infected comic. The conclusion shown here is batman/superman vol 2 #5

I mean technically I don't think that would kill Shazam. He has been turned inside out... and been unharmed. I don't think a non-magical force can actually do long term damage to him.
