One of the most underrated Superman movie actually has the biggest heart if some of those scenes were stitched in. Would’ve made it more rich, adding value to the human elements in his character as Superman.
"alienation" is such a perfect way to start this scene. Alien, alien nation, and alienation all made to think of, fitting the theme of Superman so well.
Most of those deleted bits & scenes should have been in the final movie. The Kryptonian crystals giving off warmth and the Fortress of Solitude causing a continuous weather pattern that keeps it hidden are important details that should have been kept in. Frankly, those explanations should have been given in "Superman"[1978](AKA "Superman: The Movie") and "Superman 2". Also, "Wrong!! Wrong!! Wrong!! Wrong!! Wrong!! Wrong!! Wrong!! Wrong!!".
Snyder shouldn't have been anywhere near it. Becomes superman in 5 seconds with no training. No crystal fortress. No morality questions. It was dumbed down disaster porn.
Usually I come away from "deleted scene" videos understanding why they were cut from the finished film, but here... many of these scenes (especially Routh's scenes) seem like they should have been in the final cut.
He played Clark well, but I found his transformation into Superman less dramatic than Reeve, Reeve was brilliant. Cavill however was missing Clark but an Excellent Superman, shame we never got more of him, especially in a bright hopeful manner after being evil in JL2, then what most recognise in JL3 MOS2 etc. Corenswet looks decent but Gunn, Mr Silly, I am very afraid of what he is going to do to Superman, I hope my fears are just that...fears.
@@L1ghtOn3 yeah i know what you mean i thought justice league films were good as the dark knight trilogy i was wrong i learned smallville show is better than dceu i choose to watch it since christmas 2022 because i was born in early 2000s like dark knight trilogy and my childhood spider man trilogy about tom welling clark kent his birthday is april 26th and mine is april 25th
@@tobycattel There is a lot of gd lore in Smallville, I'm a fan too of the show, I've been going to see Superman since Reeve, it was amazing back then, been a DC fan for over 40 years, love DC, some Marvel too, grew up with Spider-Man, Hulk, X-Men, F4, DC I liked Superman and Batman but started reading a few years later and then became mostly DC as I grew up, well we never really "grow up", do we lol. I think the DCEU started well, it helps if you have read Death and Return of Superman and The Dark Knight Returns to understand especially BVS into ZSJL, but I think because of backlash we never got to see the full Universe realised, which was a shame, then we got years during/after JL 2017 of watered down DCEU that felt odd and silly. Now we have Gunn as co-CEO, and as much as I liked GOTG, I didn't really like TSS or Peacemaker that much, too silly for me, blood n guys flying all over the place in a stupid way, so I'm hoping Superman gets the Top Dog treatment, but so far and THAT reveal, it's realising my fears of Gunn being in charge, DC needed a Fiege, not a guy doing everything and giving major reveals like the crumpled Superman suit, seems to show he's not that bothered. I mean the film might be good but everything Gunn has done thus far screams kiddy silly goofy stuff and that has me very worried. Hopefully I'm wrong but I ain't holding my breath! I don't get it as well all these "Gunn" supporters as if Gunn does no wrong? That's ALL he does is do stuff wrong! Lol DC is bigger than Gunn, Snyder too, but at least he treated the fans better, was his stuff perfect? No, all it needed was tweaked and left alone to grow. I mean we could be on to a massive Universe by now with multiple good directors of Nolan, Snyder, Ayer, Jenkins, Wan, Phillips, even Gunn doing a movie or 2 for the "GOTG" crowd you know, but NOT a whole Universe! The thing is I thought GOTG was ok, but I just don't want DC silly, just no. They need to stick to films like Joker, TDK trilogy, BurtonVerse, Snyderverse "look and feel" for DC, NOT going all Marvel, that's for Marvel, NOT DC, then when DC has a major Universe like the comics, which it kinda does for the older stuff THEN create a Marvel/DC crossover, but not soon, another 10+ years or so.✌
@@L1ghtOn3 yeah i'm not interested watching suicide squad and peacemaker either and yes i quit watching mcu after endgame that was my last time enjoy marvel i was the birthday boy of mcu but it hasen't change after tony died but when thanos died it gives me freedom but i never quit watching spider man that's what i was born for since 2002
With Snyder Blacklisted ? It won't happen... EVER ! Same as his promised extended X-MEN movies cuts (we did had the Rogue Cut for Days Of Future Past and it was, indeed, far superior.
I love the parallels between seeing clark finding out he can fly and later Jason having powers, also clark looking at all the pictures of Jonathan in his room adds to the whole father becoming the son motif of the film
I love superman returns, Brandon Routh is something wonderful, fantastic in every sense. pity to have removed some scenes from the film .. Brandon Routh my favorite superman ❤❤❤❤❤
Brandon was a great replacement for Reeves, one Reeves approved of. He is great in the role as this superman. Honestly, I have no complaints about any of the superman actors. I can't pick one or the other, they are different versons and all didn't fantastic in their roles. Reeves and Brandon for this version, classic Tom had his own version and story, and wasn't quite superman yet, just a awesome Clark working things out and becoming ready for the cape. I absolutely love Henry's version as well. A darker more human aspect without the goofy Clark and always sunshine and rainbows. A hurt and lonely superman finding his place. I think mam of steel two should have been him finding his true hopeful side and growing into superman fully. Then the new cw verson. Awesome daddy Clark verson. That veraon isn't about superman , it's about being a dad , husband , and man.
it follows similar formula of the original Reeves Superman films, which serve more as character studies and character exploration, rather than action films. Unfortunately, at time of release of this film, people and the public wanted action films and action set pieces more.

Seeing Glen Ford as Pa in those old pictures was really nice. I absolutely loved that sequence in the original movie when Jonathan has his father to father talk with Clark and that’s when he dies. It’s genuinely heartbreaking.
It's funny there are even more deleted scenes that most don't even know about, At 4:18 "Young Clark seen falling from the roof of the barn" there is a shot of Young clark X-raying the ground of the barn and see the storm seller that houses his ship that he came to earth in, at that point we would have seen Clark going down to the storm seller and look into the ship and pull out a Crystal. Why that scene wasn't included is beyond me.
Keeping Glen Ford's pictures in the bedroom scene was very touching as Jonathan Kent. Wish that was kept in. Bryan Singer had some wonderful details ready, but I think the studio forced him to cut it short.
It's okay to have an opinion, and make sire your father's memory is being held in the highest regards, if he deserves it. My mom fated again after my dad passed away, after a period of time , and I made sure he was respected by them all, as they are only there because he is not.
As a kid I never really understood the plot, here I am now understanding it a little bit. Weird story but in my opinion it did okay and i still love it since it made my childhood. Also i remember seeing most of these deleted scenes in the movie.
first time im seeing the guy who wished martha.considering we never saw him in the movie but just saw him wave goodbye.mustve just got a few hundred dollars
Bro when I watched this movie I always thought that the island lex made would form a new planet krypton but now to see I was right is one of the best feelings ever
Technically her Scrabble scoring is wrong. The "L" on the triple letter score can't be used again. It was used when they made "LULL," so it can't be re-used for "ALIENATION." That should only be a 12-point word. (24 with the Double Word Score) Of course, everybody has their own house rules for Scrabble.
Hopefully, if they had decided to put these scenes in, someone would have hidden the support lines a bit better when he was hovering above the floor. Otherwise, cool concepts.
It’s pretty obvious. I’m glad they included it as a Easter egg, but it’s a hack job. You can see where they took the original picture, and just pasted in the cut out faces of the 2006 Martha Kent actress and baby Brandon Routh.
Other than…Superman having a child by Lois…I really liked this movie and would have loved to have seen a sequel made. I thought this was an excellent movie.
This movie was made with all the best intentions. But in order for anyone to understand this film, they would've had to watched Superman the movie and Superman 2 the Richard Donner cut. Ive seen them so I understand this film, But Bryan Singer and the writers really should have done an origin story. But at the end of the day, I'm glad they didn't Because I love "MAN OF STEEL" Zach Snyder knocked it out of the park. I'm my opinion, You can't make a DC comic movie from a Marvel point of view. I truly believe that the New Superman movie set to be release in 2025 from James Gunn vision isn't going to go well.
Damn shame we never got a sequel but let’s be real it’s not the best it could’ve been. I always sort of liked this movie but there was a point I saw it and got bored easily. Then I was really into Smallville for some time and came back to the movie. I like it, but even as a kid and now I think wow what a fumble. they had everything to make a great movie but it’s mediocre at times which sucks because Brandon as Superman especially and his suit and look is just a whole vibe. He has aura for sure. I wish they made a more classic take rather than a slow paced movie about an island.. would’ve been cool to see Bizzarro or doomsday… or if they wanted to the kid thing they should’ve went full holy moly Lois u have a kid?? And the kid could’ve had powers idk. it’s not a bad movie but played it way too safe. I really enjoy the casting especially Superman/Clark and Lois.
