I do high dose vitamin c for better recovery because since 2020 my recovery from gym went from a few days to 9 days which is extremely disturbing. High dose Vitamin c together with msm and a whole bunch of other supplements, I don't feel like it's preventing me muscle growth tho 👌

Hey Siim. I want to preface this by saying, that I love your content. You are a valuable source as far as the reseach on longevity goes, and I do appreciate how concise you are in your presentation. A lot of other social media personas in the same space could learn from that. With that out of the way, I have a question regarding the impact of VO2max on longevity. Don't get me wrong, exercise and physical activity might be one of the most powerful lifestyle tools to improve your health, but I still feel like it's overstated. At least potentially. Particularly when comparing Olympic athletes to the general population, primarily because A- some studies have shown that they don't live longer or even have less favourable longevity outcomes compared to genpop, especially power athletes, B- In the instances of medalists, there for sure is a healthy user bias going on which puts them in that position in the first place. Genetics, resources, lifestyle, the list goes on. And lastly, C- there are some pretty robust studies showing that moderate-high intensity athletes don't necessarily live longer than people who do a lot of low intensity, like walking and other ADL activies. I feel like there is a bit on nuance lacking on this subject and that the often cited studies on VO2 max and reduction in risk factors have oversold/mis-interpret, especially by people like Attia. Any thoughts on that ? Thanks again for the content.

My personal take on this is that elite athletes put such high demands on their bodies, and this can negatively affect their overall lifespan and quality of life. I mean imagine making your heart go near max rate multiple times a week for years on end. I am not sure the body can differentiate from exercising and a traumatic event. I think there is definitely something there.

Oh thank goodness... I only use my smart watch when I exercise because my fiancée got it for me.. So I can't really NOT use it. Thank you for the info. I was worried a lot about this. My medical scientist sis said these watches aren't so accurate (I believe they ain't either), but as long as I can count my steps and such.

EMF exposure is proportional to the amount of energy being emitted. Amount of energy is proportional to the capacity of the battery times speed of discharge. As a general rule of thumb, I wouldn't bother about devices that can sustain for many days on a small battery, like a whoop band for example.
@MochaZilla
@MochaZilla 19 дней назад
I partially agree and disagree simultaneously (lol). The negative effects of EMF are cumulative. I agree that the strength (determined by proximity and source, such as cell phone antenna, wifi router, etc) matters a lot. I think a Bluetooth smartwatch would be significantly less harmful than a smartwatch with a phone antenna as its own source. But regardless of that notion, it's very important to get some sort of "minimal exposure time." The best time for this is when you sleep. Reduce your environment to as little exposure as humanly possible. No phones, wifi router off/unpluhged, no smartwatch (bluetooth or cell phone watch), etc. I think limited emf exposure while you sleep is a way to get proper recovery without overly worrying about being exposed during the day.

@LVArturs
@LVArturs 28 дней назад
No, it is not too early to tell whether smart watches are problematic, since we've been carrying smartphones everywhere for years, which usually emit more EMF than watches, and there's been research on phones (and routers, antennas etc. emitters) Plus, you can use a watch in airplane mode and connect only when absolutely needed, if you're worried.

It would provide SIGNIFICANTLY more glycine than store bought bone broth. You wouldnt be able to measure it but the fact that it gels up and store bought does not, shows how diluted the store bought stuff is.

Is it possible to get heavy metal poisoning from dark chocolate? Would it be subclinical or would it show up in a hair test?
@thomasmuller1850
@thomasmuller1850 27 дней назад
Perhaps. Tolerable intake in the EU is 0.36 microgram per kg body weight. Look up the cadmium content of the brand. If your desirable portion of chocolate is a huge percentage of 0.36x your body weight, it would be too much.

Basically increasing strength involves both muscle adaptations (usually a combination of both an increase in size [sarcoplasmic hypertrophy] and density [myofibrillar hypertrophy] as well as neural adaptations (your brain and nervous system get better at recruiting muscle fibers and coordinating movements). So, the muscle adaptations would be impacted, but likely not the neural adaptations.

Dark sunproof glass is always better than metal can.
@trench01
@trench01 28 дней назад
@@dravrahamrosenzweig The metal that is imported is tin. It is the best for light exposure and heat protection. The glass is not 100% to store and it can heat up compared to tin. Is good to see which can cost more. So not worth it unless people buy at very small amounts which people should consume more. . The fresh oil should taste a bit spicy /bitter which most oils do not have. The one in Greece has more polyphenols and not mixed compared to some others which the odds increase. One has to use taste to know what is best.
