This is so messed up considering I used to be homeless. I'll admit it I was homeless at the age o 18 because My parents died and because I was a legal adult nobody wanted help me even though I was still in high school. Does that mean I deserved jail? Does this mean that I deserve to have some big fine? No offense to some of you people But you are privileged. @gamer9ir141 is 100% correct. Not everyone chooses to be homeless. Things can happen in life that cause a person to end up homeless, and it is not always by choice. Far too many people are definitely privileged. You all need to be humbled real quick. I don't wish homelessness on anyone, but you might need to put yourself in their shoes. Think about this whole conversation while picturing yourselves homeless in an uncontrollable scenario that made you end up homeless. How would you feel if you were fined for something you couldn't control? You'd think it was BS yourselves. But since most of y'all are privileged and it isn't you in the position, you all don't care.

@@natesbored overdose =/= sleep. I know this because they're two different words. Nobody is out here encouraging homeless people to shoot up and literally die behind a baseball field, but have you ever asked yourself if that's their preferred place to do it either? They didn't show up from a city where they had a house so they could live in your little community park. What if a single mom and her kids were out playing in the sun and decided to take a quick nap under the tree, should those people be fined too? Cities should designate areas for (homeless) public camping, not just allow them to camp wherever they choose. This should be treated as a zoning issue, similar to parking areas, business areas, etc. We don't just let people park cars wherever they feel like it just because they don't have money to park or there is no garage space available. Park in a designated area or get towed. Having designated public camping areas also allows cities to more effectively deliver services to the homeless population while at the same time cleaning up the image of popular areas of the city like where many of the homeless seem to congregate. Florida just approved a bill to do just that!

Wow. Great job. That'll rake in the profits. Fining people with no name no id no home no car no license no life no future. Thats just genius. I hope NBC will certainly give us daily updates on this story. Im very curious to know exactly how rich is a homeless man living in a garbage bag.

The government, big pharma, and greedy landlords have caused this homeless situation and they should fined. Rent is ridiculously expensive and should have a cap on rent per size of dwelling. Big Pharma should be financially supporting victims of Oxy and other addictive drugs. The government needs to help people in homeless communities more then Ukraine.

This is practically absurd. Many homeless people don’t even have bank accounts. How do they expect homeless individuals to make payment on any fines they incur? You should also consider that charging the homeless for being homeless will only exacerbate the problem.

No I don’t and I’m not oblivious But I can guarantee I have looked at the data more than you There are multiple categories of homeless people duh. I’m talking about the majority not the minority. Find those that are down on there luck and willing to work and have dignity and pour resources into them. But people who don’t want to progress forward like my family members is the category I’m talking about And by the way that’s about 60 percent
