Would you happen to remember what settings you had for the stock battery? Just got my ko pro controller and it’s running about the same top speed as the stock controller

Yes, I was running 91 A and 520 phase amps. 91 was where I could get without tripping the batteries bms

Great video. I got the KO factory spec controller and stock battery, but haven't installed it yet, as I was waiting to get a 72v battery. Is it worth it to put the KO factory spec controller in before I get my 72v with the latest updates? Will I notice anything? In your video the bypassed battery was much faster with KO controler vs the stock set up.

In my video.. that IS the stock battery with no bypass 🤣. It for sure can make a difference. I now have the Chi battery and its crazy, but to answer your question. I would install it. You can enjoy getting the most out of your stock battery and also get used to the controller and tuning it while you wait for the 72.

yes.. it does. The stock sur-ron has 2 forms of limitations. 1) the stock controller 2) the battery. The stock controller is set to only allow slightly under what the battery is capable of. With the new controller.. you can push the boundaries right to where the batteries BMS will shut it down to protect it, this allows you to fine tune it to maximize all the power you can get. Also adding phase amps which gives you much more torque than stock.

@@clu801 and you haven’t had any issues with overheating I ride my bike on some heavy trails here and then I’m just not tryna risk overheating the motor or damaging the battery

@@juniorotero9030 The battery will protect itself and shut off. The motor can overheat. But I have done some pretty gnarly trails and I'm not a small guy at 200 lb and I've not overeated it. But it is possible from what I hear

Ok I recently installed a ko nano controller and for some reason I almost feel like I don’t have control for the bike when I’m doing wheelies it feels very jumpy. And another thing I had to say is my range significantly dropped especially when using the extra power for the top speed or accelerating fast for wheelies ur range drastically decreases

100% the range will be less. With more power you definitely use more battery. As for the throttle, it took me a while to get a good tune and I also install a domino throttle which has a much bigger voltage range.

You must have had field weakening enabled to achieve the extra speed with Ko. You should say what your settings are but more importantly you should have also noted the power difference between the two. Extra speed from field weakening is not free. Also this will cause the motor to overheat sooner.

"WeakRSP - Magnetic field weakening Reducing this number will effectively reduce the maximum motor RPM. The lower the number the higher level of magnet weakening is used. Set to zero by default values available 0-6 plus disable. We would suggest using 0 as a preferred setting. " Mine was set to 4 This video was simply to show that with just a KO controller and stock non-bypassed battery what you could achieve compared to stock.

yeah.. I had the KO RPM configuration set pretty low at 500 - 2000 RPM during this video. I later realized there is a better way to make it feel more like stock. Changing the throttle mode to 'eco' and setting RPM's to start at 100% 500rpm - 5000rpm then gradually lower after that.

I wasn't able to complete my full test due to breaking my collarbone on my trail ride, but I would say it seems to be about on par, maybe slightly less but hardly noticeable.

the app does show it.. but its not a great looking app.. they are working on a display.. its getting close to release which will have a pretty HUD from what I have heard.

Hey not really related to the video but can you tell me if this is true or false basically? From fully charged (Stock Sur Ron 2022 example) when it gets to say 60% battery, is the sur ron super weak in terms of power and torque? I've had someone say after 10 minutes of riding, the sur ron is pretty lack luster and boring to ride as it lost torque dramatically after 10 minutes? Is it true, just want to ask a "True" sur ron owner that knows his stuff haha, cheers

I would say it's noticeable but not super weak. I would say it gets super weak under 20% that's when I'm really noticing it. But there are notices after 60 and 40% as well. I could stilll Wheelie the stock bike above 20%.

On the stock Sur-ron the green wire is cut. I am not sure what you mean about the black wire. On the bike with the KO that green wire that is cut doesn't matter any more. the battery does not use that connector.

@@clu801 Just read this comment. So with the KO controller, you don't need to cut the green wire? I currently use the brake lever comboniations when I want my surron to act like the green wire is cut.

@@djdubz I will rephrase that. with an aftermarket battery I don’t use that plug. It’s only used for the stock battery. Are you planning on keeping the stock battery?

This video was before I had my Chi. I was running stock non-bypassed battery. So my settings were 91 line amp and 520 phase amp.

@@KoalaTeaa Yeah.. 91 Line amp was the highest I could go without tripping the BMS. I was told 520 phase was the highest you want to go on phase as to not damage the stock battery. Honestly.. its actually pretty good power.. better than stock for sure.

Thanks 👍 there was a little headwind that day I'm sure it would go a little bit faster. But it was more of a comparison between stock and the KO controller. With the launch I have my values to turn down on low RPMs so bike won't be as twitchy on launch. I am sure it would launch a whole lot faster if I had it at 100% 🙂

One of the bikes is stock.. the other has the Red KO pro controller. However, if the nano had been out when I got it.. I would have got it and saved some money.

@@vicoli89 At first I was going to bypass my stock battery. I even had the bypass kit before the controller. But I decided against it, and to sell the stock battery and now I have a Chi 60v compact.

@@vennomrides107 I have hit 60mph on it.. but that wasn't top speed.. I got nervous and backed off. The range on it is way better.. hard to put a number on it.. not double but better than 50% more. As for the battery.. the Chi compact is capable of 22kw 😲 which is nuts, remember stock is like 5.4kw. I have not yet passed 15kw. Also the phase amps with the controller are configurable so you can have more torque than you can imagine. But I turned this way down.. since It was constantly trying to throw me off the back.
