To the whole TFL team, I have been watching this channel for years and this is hands down the best content you've ever made. Well, the TFL guys are figuring out what most off-roaders already know: Own a low-cost, but well-maintained "beater" 4WD for hardcore 4-wheeling. I've followed that line for years, and had more fun for less cost in some very capable 4WD vehicles.

This series was a lot of fun to watch, and man that trail is BEAUTIFUL. Impressed with all 3 vehicles, though the Jeep takes it easily for me. The Mazda was over-budget and struggled at points, the Blazer performed well but had multiple scares, while the Jeep went through every step of the way just fine. Sure, transmission scare is there, but I’d still feel most confident sitting in it.

I have been proving this for a while to my friends with new fancy (expensive) rigs. I have a total including vehicle purchase cost of $8000 in my 04 WJ. That money bought me a rear locker, front TruTrac, 3" long arm lift, gearing, lights, some engine work,etc. I do all my own work so the labor costs were nill. I now have a nice, comfortable, very capable rig. I rebuilt the 4.7 using newer parts from a '12 Ram, those are rated at 310hp, makes my old 04 get up and jump. Seems for less than 10K I have a rig that outperforms my friends new Rubicons for one simple reason... They will not take their $500 a month rig where it might get scratched or damaged, not to mention the amount of time spent in at the dealer fixing minor glitches. Minor stuff like the entire transfer case being replaced, steering box replaced, transmission replaced, electrical gremlins, etc. Had to add, those groaning brakes on the WJ, lol. Mine quieted down completely using semi metallic pads, cheaper AutoZone pads make the noise.

From the people behind the cameras to the ones in the drivers seats, TFL continues to be one of the best on RU-vid. In the words of Roman, take a look around you and see what you’ve accomplished. Cheers to many happy, exciting, and entertaining miles ahead!

Also, I'd love to hear their comments about whether they would feel confident jumping in these vehicles on any given Friday afternoon and driving 2-300 miles into the mountains for camping/wheeling, and would your wife go with you?🤣

Roman sounds like the school of fish that Dory asks directions from. ‘Uhh, that direction!’ ‘Remember swim through it, not over it!’

Hands down the mazda is better off road. Did better the whole way up the trails. The blazer shut off during the trip and could barely make the climb. Jeep was middle of the group. Simple

Nathan and Andre were sending it every-time and I feel Tommy was babying the Jeep.
@canyonero2050
@canyonero2050 2 года назад
Thats because tommy knows how to drive and the other guys not so much. Sending it while off-roading is exactly how you break/damage something. Momentum should be the last option when trying to overcome an obstacle.
@wiks101
@wiks101 2 года назад
@@canyonero2050 Your missing the point those other two trucks held up better with the abuse they took. you're acting like this was supposed to be a technical school on driving offroad
@canyonero2050
@canyonero2050 2 года назад
@@wiks101 actually i think your missing the point. Using momentum as your man tool for overcoming an obstacle isn't telling us much about these trucks. It would of been better to see them try to crawl up the obstacles at lower speeds first. This would of given us a better representation of what these cheaper vehicles are capable of on there own power and ability. That is actually telling you something about the ability of the vehicle. If at that point the vehicle isnt capable enough to crawl it then by all means go ahead and send it and see how it does. Tommy showed that his Jeep was capable of crawling those obstacles all on its own without having to take the risk of blowing his already shotty transmission or bouncing onto a rock and breaking something. I really dont think the "point" of this series was to see if they could or could not break a vehicle by testing out their "sending" limits. Of course in all reality the ACTUAL point of this video was to produce a commercial for thier sponsor, BFgoodrich. Ps-that chevy blazer absolutely broke/damaged something by sending it to hard up that hill. At the end he even admits it was his fault for having to heavy foot on the gas pedal.
@wiks101
@wiks101 2 года назад
@@canyonero2050 no the point was " sending it every-time " is what made these videos cool and fun to watch - slow crawling 25 year old pieces of shit that no one would trust to go up alone into the mountains without a support crew and a trailer (TRX) does not make for good content
@foellerd
@foellerd 2 года назад
People use momentum up hills either out of desperation or like you said, for entertainment. In reality its too risky to take chances like that in your daily driver that has to make it to work the next day. Thats the scenario most of us relate too. Holds true for shit boxes and fully loaded Rubicons. Sounds like you'd rather cater these videos to people with disposable incomes which goes completely against the whole point of the video. If those trucks had broken they would have felt real stupid for pushing it when a little less could have kept them in the video, was a big gamble.

Been watching your stuff for years and I don’t know how but I missed this series when it debuted. I’m partial to Nathans rig because I had a 99’ ZR2 pickup with a 4.3 and that truck was tough. Good job on videography MORE like this please👍🏼🇺🇸✌🏼
