Honest mechanics like Toby are at a premium. Always nice to hear a mechanic tell you what is real bad and what can wait just ahead. Those types deserve customers business because you know they aren't out to screw the customer. Honesty is refreshing every so often.

Hah ! when you buy an old motor all you want is for it to go for as long as possible, anything that works properly is a bonus, it’s a motor to go to work in, if it passes it’s statutory test it’s a go !

He may not be after the customer. But the advice he gives is not accurate. You can’t just look at a shock or strut and know if it is good or not. I replaced 2 on my car a while ago and both looked perfect with no rust and perfect paint still. But on my gfs car they were rusted to hell and worked perfect.

Chrysler drivetrains are junk!! The hemi has oiling issues and undersized oil return veins, same with the 4.7 oiling issues undersized oil return veins and the valve seats come out of the heads.. The engine in that jeep is not original I know that for sure...

@@philllsxga.7737 you don’t. Again too many are ON THE ROAD TODAY. Everyone isn’t spending more than a car is worth to keep it on the road. Both engine and trans. HIS ram had issues. Again, TOO MANY of them of old on the road. Lots of first generation Durango’s everywhere as well. Explain why? are ALLL these people replacing engines every few thousand miles? You make no sense. If the transmission AND engine issues were wide spread, you wouldn’t see ANY at all. It’s not uncommon to see any of the vehicles I mentioned.

Aaaauuggghhhhhh!!! Can’t wait to see what the deficiencies are!! Hahaha Now that I have seen the video, it’s not as bad as I thought. I was very worried about the Mazda (Ford) when Andre bought it,,,,,,,, and I’m generally a Ford guy! The Jeep, no surprises. I did the heater core in one though. You take the dash out to get there!! In the dealership my buddy was quoted over $2,000 CAD to replace the core, by the time we were done, we both wished he had spent the money!! Haha. What a PIA! That Blazer will fail you somewhere,,,,,,,. They looked decent and drove quite well. A few guys had ZR2 blazers like Nathan wanted and they were capable, but fragile. This is a good series though. Routine maintenance and getting the issues fixed when they generally should be is why that Jeep is pretty decent. The clean transmission oil is a give away kinda. Did that to sell it and do so right after changing it so it doesn’t smell burnt. They cleared the codes on the transmission and then they returned from Tommy driving it home. They will be back, I’m sure! Haha. It’s not the worst though,,,,, even the TFL team had learned when they got the black Dodge!!! I think Nathan and Andre were a bit too blinded when they found a running example of what they wanted, especially Andre,,,, haha. Tommy was pretty analytical and got his purchase. It pays to not be too emotional when you go to look at a vehicle,,,,, I know from experience!! Andre, Nathan,,,,, I can definitely sympathize!! I have been blinded up front by getting what I wanted and not looking close enough. Fortunately I restore the older vehicles I buy but it always means much more work!! Haha. Great series TFL!! Now if you would release each of the already edited videos one per day the rest of this week,,,,,,,,,,,???

14:00 I had a 2006 with the 4.7L, same problem with a leaking t-stat housing.
@codylapoint
@codylapoint 2 года назад
Me too, the problem is that there is no gasket on the housing itself. The gasket is on the thermostat with an indexing tab on it. If you look really close that tab favors one side of the thermostat ( the side away from the motor. It lines up with a little notch in the plastic neck piece, and if you have the gasket on backwards even with the notch clocked properly it will still leak a few drips every now and then. It took me a lot of swearing over several weeks to notice that the tab wasn't in the exact center of the gasket and it could in fact be put on backwards. Why they even put that stupid tab on there makes no sense to me it doesn't help it seal it does a better job causing it not to.

Years ago I pulled engines apart to fix oil leaks. Fixed the leak but in the grand scheme it didn’t really change anything. Nowadays I say just let ‘er drip - it keeps the undercarriage from rusting. 😁

just a heads up on the ford ranger 4.0L V6 that is the OHV engine which is a hell of a lot more robust than the SOHC engine , there is a stroker kit for the 4.0L OHV engine , still worth every penny he spent on it , even though it does require a engine rebuild, i would not hesitate to purchase it

I bought from a friend 1 year and 3 months ago a 1995 Toyota Tacoma 4x4, V6, manual 5 speed, power everything and even cruise control, tires are 31 1050 R15 brand new. Two-door and has been parked in a garage it's whole life and for the two biggies, and only had 86000 original miles and I paid $3,500. So now I park it in my garage and as of today she has 91,000 miles. I have never seen a 95 Toyota Tacoma this clean she is definitely a beauty!
