I find it funny how they buffed the Sloops mast. A change no one expected and or wanted for the matter. Wether be it fleeing Sloopers or chasing Ships. It is better than nothing for Sloopers but want me to tell you why that change is inferior to if they had just brought the Sloop to the same speed the bigger ships provide? Here is the answer: + _Because if you can flee faster... your Mast will not recieve that many exposure to chainshots!_ + _You could way more effectively sail to Towers, Forts & other cannons which enable you to fight with 2 cannons after all_ + _"Redsailing" and red-sinking a Sloop would therefore be minimized, which all Shipcrews aspire_ and last and also least + _The Sloop would now have an effective way of chasing a bigger Ship in case it can secure an advantage in naval combat_ But does Rare think about that? Will they ever hear about the communitys whispers? At this point I guess it is more realistic the Demoncrates & their Globalist Masters lose all power and worldpeace will be achieved - not even a pun intended. Cool changes & signs appear on the horizon of _"politics"._
just a note on hull livery interiors. Any and all of the Arena Team Liveries apply the paint-job on ALL ship type interiors, including a Brigantine and Galleon. for example, equipping the Azure Scout hull on the galleon will paint the inner walls and support beams Blue and White respectively.
It is by far my biggest gripe with ship customization that Brigs and Gallies don't have their inner hulls get colored along with the hull customization you choose like it does with a sloop. It's especially jarring when they still color the support beams inside as well, which can make it clash hard with the default brown coloring depending on what hull you like to use
With the mast damage changes, this is how I'd rank the ships currently, disregarding memes: Trio Brig + Cannon Rowboat* Quad Galleon** Duo Sloop + Cannon Rowboat*** Trio Brig (average) Quad Galleon (average)** Duo Sloop (average)*** Duo Brig/Solo Sloop**** Trio Galleon***** Solo Sloop (average)***** * This is the most terrifying thing you can ever encounter in this game, the only thing that could make this scarier is seeing the enemy crew all wearing Triumphant Sea Dog outfits with the Good Boy Shipset + Dark Adventurer Sails. ** I'd say a fully competent, sweaty Quad Galleon is the far more likely to encounter, second-most-terrifying ship you will ever find, but a vast majority of Galleon crews aren't that so that's why it's rated twice, one for the sweats and the other for your average Galleon crew. If you were to make the top two spots fight each other, I'd say the Brig is favored but it's a close match either way. *** Same thing for Duo Sloop, the best of the best could easily beat your average Galleon crew or Trio Brig, but the average Duo Sloop is outclassed by your average Galleon or Brig. Here though, I'd say the best Sloop would still lose to the best Galleon or Brig, they are still outnumbered and when both sides are of equal skill, that matters a lot. **** The matchup between a Solo Sloop and a Duo Brig is as close to equal footing as you can get between two different ship classes, the Sloop is outgunned but the Brig is out maneuvered, this is probably the highest skill-dependent matchup for _both_ sides, except for the obvious mirror matches. The best Solo Sloop would be able to beat the average Trio Galleon, if Blurbs is anything to go by. ***** Trio Galleons are weird, you are never going to find a sweaty try-hard trio using the Galleon over the Brig, but if an average crew decided to use the Galleon for some reason, they could still beat the average Solo Sloop with it purely due to manpower. However, they would not be able to beat the sweatiest Solo Sloop, they'd need a Brig for that, and they'd need to sit up in their seats. I'm not even going to rank Duo/Solo Galleons, those are memes. Speaking of Solo, it's indisputable that bigger crews are just better than smaller crews because of the difference in manpower. You can't repair, fire cannons, and repel boarders _all at once_ with only 2 people, good luck doing that with 1 person, but you technically can with 3 and most definitely can with 4. That's the reason the Sloop takes longer to sink, to give the disadvantaged smaller crew more time to make a comeback against bigger ships with more people and more cannons.
As a long time sea of thieves veteran (was soo close to getting the pirate legend weapons from arena before they removed it) the Brigantine is by far the best option if you have at least 2 competent mates, or 1 super sweat and 2 semi competent mates
Repair work while bailing on a sloop can be done by one person on any point, where repair work on a Brigantine closer to the front can not. Sloop really does not need any buffs. Discounting walking times makes this comparison rather unfair.
@@FallenTerrarian sloops already have a big disadvantage fighting bigger ships simply because they are sacrificing an extra player and only have one cannon

Yes, the brigantine can take 18 holes like the sloop, but they're not equal holes. In fact every hole that the sloop take on its rear section is basically hal a hole, because they are place over the surface of the sea. They make water come in only in rough seas with high waves or when the sloop is already partially filled with water. The brigantine's hull is sligthly curved, so the rear section is a bit elevated, but not as much as a sloop. The sloop has practically 4 decks: lower deck, map deck, cannons deck and wheel deck, while the brigantine has only got 2: lower and upper. You can sail a sloop with the back completely damaged and just use your bucket every minute or so, try to do that with a brig and you will sink
It's particularly interesting how the hull interior not always matches the external color. It took me some time experimenting in order to reach a good compromise between external good looking and internal night vision.
I’m definitely done some serious bonding with my slope as I’ve gotten more accustom to using it literally all the time. I’m just sad that it didn’t get an interior rework for captaincy, since I am constantly just wishing I could display more trinkets in there like literally just remove the pointless barrels and give better surfaces, plus maybe incorporating the furniture that other ships have into the stoop would be a great idea. It just feels pretty hard right now to make it really feel like it’s mine.
The wailing barnacle set (the blue one) customizes the interior of all ships to blue unless they patched it. I would use it on my galleon for that exact reason a lot
I did not know that, but highly possible, since it was the first full ship set in Sea of Thieves . I'm pretty sure all ships will color the interior eventually
@@PhuzzyBond honestly I believe it was changed at some point but I went back and looked at some of the original sets and they do have some color on the inside and I'm talking sovereign Sea dog admiral
The Silent Barnacle ship set is a unique set in that the hull livery actually does change the interior of all ships below deck to a weird grayish blue. It also changes the interior of the captains quarters on a galleon to gray.

This is interesting reading the comments. A lot of people cannot agree on balance. Games are a nightmare for devs when it comes to balancing. My friend group pretty much agrees that the sloop is too good (easy to out maneuver any other ship, fast respawn time, absurdly slow to sink, sail into the wind and win) if the crew knows how to reppel borders. If they get boarded though they have the smallest crew and lose all of their benefits. A crewless ship will always be the worst. A brig is the weakest ship because it will sink faster on average than any other ship (back hits on sloops and top hits on galleons can be ignored while any hit on a brig causes water intake). In our experience a keg in the middle of a brig is guaranteed to sink unlike a front bottom deck galleon keg or the same for a sloop. A sloop has the slowest intake so they don't need to react fast and will generally only have 4-6 holes to fix. The galleon will have around 8-12 holes, but only 4-6 on the bottom deck that are talking water so the water will start slow but they'll have to react fast so the water doesn't pass the bottom deck. The brig will have 4-8 holes and they are all taking water right away so it will fill up way fast than the 2 others. If your crew can't text fast enough to that explosion (either you died or are away from the ship) the brig will sink really fast. A galleon is the most balanced because if you can get one good broadside on an enemy ship, you delete the enemy but you are vulnerable if you don't keep up with repairs. We feel the safest in a sloop, we feel useless in a brig and we feel like PvPing the most in a galleon. I just want to reiterate that this is just my crew who feels this way. We tend to stay away from online discussions.

I love the tactical dynamics you need to balance when piloting different ships. Speed, maneuverability, damage control. Just one bail of water separating you from victory...or defeat.
Mr.phuzzybond I would like to show you how to kill an ashen lord really quick as a solo (2 minutes upon arrival completion). its not on the internet. people will see these guides but honestly the no one really knows everything and i think experimental players have ideas that wont be known unless a video maker makes them.
Fun fact if you play on an old Xbox with bad internet almost all ship sets can carry over to the inside I don't know why but is both annoying and good but doesn't help the fact when you come with a square of another ship your game pretty much crashes
I got a dumb question that just popped into my head watching this. If you took water that was filling up on a galleon and dumped that water into a sloop, would the amount fill up more on the sloop or would it remain the same amount on a sloop?
Very smart question, Theoretically it will convert to sloop water, since I believe in coding, water rises based on percentage of the ship and not water volume
Phuzzy's analysis is very flawed here and neglects some key aspects about the Brig. What Phuzzy neglects in this video is that all holes are pretty much water line holes on the Brig, meaning that you'll suffer pretty badly once the holes stack. The Sloop has a mezzanine floor aka the map room, that fills water in pretty slowly compared to water line holes. The Brig by comparison fills the fastest with its crew to water line holes ratio. In the heat of battle, a Brig can fill insanely fast. In a sloop, if you see that you've been hit on your mezzanine floor you can almost ignore that for the duration of the skirmish and repair while the fight resets. This cant really happen on the Brig. The Brig appears OP at first glance but its got a bit of passive weaknesses that the Devs cleverly placed.
A tier 3 hole on the bottom of a brigantine fills it faster than an equal size hole on the bottom of a sloop. Which means the water intake in a Brigantine is programmed to be faster than the sloop by code. Making it fill the fastest , however you're right about the backside of ships

Or rather (unless I'm misinformed), the sloop has the fastest respawn only if solo, right? Did they revert the change from the Captaincy update where everyone else except a solo slooper takes around 15 seconds to respawn while a solo slooper takes around 10?
I enjoy the sloop but whenever you see toxic or sweaty player it will be on a brig, a brig has all the positives and none of the negatives, it is the fastest but still nimble, it has one lower deck with close access to everything essential...
Now, feel free to tell me off. But, the second I saw this thumbnail on this video, all I could think about was how there's no Sloop or Brig shipwrecks around the map, they're all Galleons. Even the randomly spawning ones! Wouldn't it be more realistic and or more interesting to see shipwrecks of ships other than Galleons?!
@@PhuzzyBond I always felt, sense this game already is essentially a Online Multiplayer Only game. They could probably, quite easily implement a system where if a ship sinks, a shipwreck of that ship type appears randomly at that exact location in another server. Although, I guess to effectively do that, they'd have to make the game differentiate between actually sinking and logging out even more than what the milestones do
This explains why my 3 minute black screens (literally, 3 minutes every time, no exceptions) sinks my ship no matter what. Gotta love that Xbox life. 🙄
Actually, hole sizes are More than tier -3, its close to tier -10 hole size. Believe me i learned that in Devils Roar Hard way, thanks to volcanos.. This "tier -3 hole" is starting to get misleading about dmg size in the ship. How abou' we fix that statement?
