I have Sushi Go! and don't see any need to pick this one up, but I can see how if you prefer rolling dice and having perfect information, this might be preferable.
I think this is really similar to the original game, but in my opinion, Sushi Go Party is the one to have as games can be quite a bit different by adding new cards.
I think I prefer sushi go party over this. There are lots of different cards to add in and out if the game, and also I love the artwork on the cards. I miss that here.
I think most of the cards just wouldnt work because you can see everything... For example spoon, eel, miso soup,... But if the benefits are somehow changed it would work...
Bit disappointed they kept the same sushi types from the base card game, some of the sushi on the cover isn't even in the game. Sushi Go Party still has way more variety and I much prefer the simultaneous drafting.
The tactical, perfect info of this game sounds interesting and comparing it to sushi go is fair. But there's the sushi go party of it all, where the card variety gives it waaay more legs. I could see myself having this and party (which I already own) if I ever get to play it and like the differences with the original enough.
Sushi Go Party! has more variety than this and probably costs an equal amount or less. I think I'd go with that. (I don't like the sound of non-simultaneous turns, either, although I don't think Tom explained clearly how the turns work. Is it clockwise in each round?)
Sushi Go Party is a huge hit in our home, but I'm definitely not sold on this one. The cute art is barely recognizable, and the gameplay doesn't look that much different nor better in any aspects then Sushi Go. If it was extremely compact and portable, maybe that would be a selling point, but even that is kinda flubbed.
I think the appeal is that some people really love rolling dice. The game has 1 major key differences as well in that the dice on the table are known from the jump. In normal sushi go you really have no idea what what anyone has in their starting hand until the hand is passed to you. In roll both the types of sushi and their quantity is always know. It likely slows down the game as everyone is planning out what other people will do.
I love Sushi Go. I'm a bit more ambivalent about Sushi Go Party. Even though you can mix things up by crafting custom sets of cards, IMO that takes away a bit from the quick, light card drafting of Sushi Go. If I want a more involved card drafting game, I'm more likely to lean towards 7 Wonders. Now that I've tried Sushi Roll, I think I might like it even slightly more than Sushi Go. Being able to manipulate the dice and swap the dice adds a nice little touch, and it's certainly much easier to teach as the dice are out in the open, compared to the hidden hands of Sushi Go.
I have Sushi Go and Sushi Go party. Wondered if I wanted to get Sushi Roll and thinking of selling one of the other two, what would you do? I don’t need them all and I love dice games,
Naruto San Huh, that’s interesting. My copy has been fine, slight wear on the cards after 15-20 games but nothing serious, and the rest of the stuff (pawns, menu icons, play board) are made of pretty sturdy materials that I can’t see giving me problems for a long time. The only real complaint I have is that I don’t quite like how the cardboard menu icons fit in the tin, but it’s a really minor gripe and nothing I would ever consider not buying the game over considering how much play it’s gotten.
From what I see, it might not be. I think for Sushi Go! yeah it's great, but Sushi Go! Party has a lot more cards, so there is more variety. Still fun. I have both this and Party.
Depends upon what you want, sushi go party has a lot more variety then sushi roll (though tom’s comment about the box seems like it’s future proofed for expansions), but sushi roll is a dice game and seems like it’s a better game for a smaller number of players.
Wow, I basically have no concept how to play this game after watching this, I understand it is a review and not a playthrough but your first section is so rushed I cannot make an opinion whether to even try the game.
Such mediocre production quality for such a simple game. The production should have been over the top with chunky dice and better graphic design. Very bland.
