35 now, watching the video showing its decline in the games is quite sad, still, my mate made the car take off in a race, literally downforced the outta the rear and sure enough it took off 😂
I was 13 in 1998, so Gran Turismo 2 was a critical part of my childhood. Many many nights of playing late into the morning. Love learning the history of the real car.
I remember playing GT2 in high school. The Suzuki was one of my favorites. There was actually a funny design bug in the game that worked with Escudo and a few of the other high performance race cars. If you tweaked around with the downforce settings (depending on the specific car) on the track the entire front of the car would lift up and the car would have a huge burst of speed. You could go well past 300MPH. This fun little bug and only worked with a few of the games cars.
GT2 is what turned me into a gear head. I remember deciding to learn how to drive it properly and staying up all night winning an endurance race. I will NEVER forget the Escudo, it was the first time I'd ever seen it and this video was really fun since I never really knew the history of it.
I used to use the escudo on the hi speed ring endurance race and tape the gas button down, leave get lunch, chill, come back to the game in first place with a boat load of prize money
after the announcement of the car returning to gt7, and despite i don't have a ps5, i'm glad to know about the story behind this car. a monster with a driver whose nickname is intimidating yet is a wholesome man. thank you so much, your presentation is truly something wonderful.
The game and car stuck with me so much, I just wanted to go up the mountain. I didn’t know there was a gate, and on a 20 hour road trip I missed it by a mere 20 min. Sad but still surreal to even be at the base. The way games change your life. Did you know google maps says it’s about 50 min for normal traffic to reach the summit. That makes it insane for even a slow 15 min race is just amazing.
The only way I could win in GT2 when I was a kid was picking this and driving it flat out into every wall. You could still win easily. I didn't understand braking zones or racing lines. Great video.
I always remember the Suzuki Escudo. Some random times during a day, from inside me, I say Suzuki Escudo many years now because I played this car in Gran tourismo 2 and comes to mind the front part of the car and the aerofoil and the wide body kit. The sound the speed and the shape of this car is written in my mind.
Insane, I thought you had way more subscribers until I actually checked after the video ended. Superb editing and good story telling. I'd love more videos like these about the special cars (like the F1 Renault) and maybe even the history of tracks featured in the gran turismo games (like Fuji Speedway, Suzuka Circuit). Looking forward to it!
For real, thank you so much! These are probably the kind of comments which motivates us to keep making video! :D Actually we are already planning to make some contents about special cars and tracks. The idea is to cover as many arguments as possible from the world of motorsport, simracing and racing games like Gran Turismo! There is still a lot to develop from this point of view, but we are plenty of time to do so. P.S. little spoiler here, the very next video is going to be about another special car still from the Gran Turismo universe ;)
@@PROJECTDREAMMULTIMEDIA if I might add a little more support, RU-vid shorts are probably the best way to get more traction to your channel, for example to make a one minute preview (maybe consisting of a interesting fact about the subject) and then saying at the end of the preview that if you would like to hear more then check out the channel and watch the full video. Perhaps you know better and you already have a plan but I hope my idea can help boost your viewership because it definitely deserves it! An example would be like "The Amuse Carbon R34 is an R34 tuned by Japanese tuning company Powerhouse Amuse, the body is completely made of carbon fibre Weighing in at 1,123 kg with 601 BHP. If you would like to hear more about this car then check out the channel for the full video"
To be honest we've been evaluating #shorts for a long while: The idea was to create completely detached contents based on smaller arguments, with just a quick editing and storytelling, nothing too aggressive or challenging. We are still considering the thing right now. Your idea either is not that bad, we wanted to make something similar on social networks for example or in the community tab (in the future, as we haven't activated still none of them), rather than with the shorts tab, but still this is a good starting point from you, and i'm gratuful for it! Still a long time to maximize the efficiency of the channel, after all we are just a small group of 4 guys with jobs and university to take care of, but yeah we are totally looking to improve what we are doing here in this platform! Thank you anyway again for the support (and for hearing my words (video editor replying here)) ;)
I remember as a kid i used to grind money repeating the All Star Red Rock Valley Race, to win the Speed 12 and get half a milion credits after selling it. I repeated that race so many times that i started to speedrunning it with the Escudo, and was literally amazed by how fast that car could go with setup and super soft tyres. If i'm not mistaken i managed to make a lap under 50 seconds lol
I remember the Escudo Pikes Peak! I thought it was the craziest car in the game. It was really expensive and my buddy and I calculated out the races we could do, how fast we could do them, and how much we got for winning them. We determined the fastest way to win the most amount of money, and would rotate playing until we finally had enough money to buy it. It was glorious! Back then GT didn't have a lot of realistic data on the cars per se, which they obviously added with each game after that. That's why it didn't work as well in later games. But man, seeing it again brings back memories!
This brought back memories of my childhood! I loved the Escudo and it was super cheat mode when using it for most races. Tajima is still killing it at 70 years old too! Love your videos, i just finished my Pike's Peak Hillclimb video myself, which I couldn't make without this car!
My dream is to drive my own replica 86 Audi Quattro s1 up piles peak. Not to win, but to show the majesty of that car flying up that hill one more time.
I don't play any of the Gran Turismo games. Even I'm not into any racing games. But when my friend played GT on the PS and said to me that he had the fastest car in the game, which is of course the Escudo, that name still in my memory til today.
I used to play this game so much as a kid, I mean hours straight doing the same course just time attack shaving milliseconds each time. I drilled holes in my controller to help desweat my hands when I was playing for hours straight at a time
@@PROJECTDREAMMULTIMEDIA yes then I grew up tried to do racing in real life. Spent $130k on cars and tools in the past 15 years. Realized this hobby is only fun for filthy rich people. Went back to playing video games 😂 and watching this video haha thanks
@@PROJECTDREAMMULTIMEDIA amen an education is expensive but I learned a lot. Feel bad for my older friends who are just getting into it and have to go through all the same mistakes.
Brings back so many childhood memories of Gran Turismo 2. I put so many miles on that Suzuki Escudo in the game that it’s really heart warming to learn about it’s history in real life!
Found you today. Watched all you have out. Great work. Good edits. Solid footage. Your voice is great. Your accent adds to it. Good script. Nice. Keep it up.
It was actually physics bug that the first GT had as well. With certain very high performance race cars you could tweak the down force settings it it made the car entire front end lift up and also get a huge surge in speed. They fixed those physics bugs in GT3.
You should have mentioned, what to me adds up to amazment of Escudo, that Escudo in normal version is an 100% off roader. Unlike other rally cars which are in normal version street cars, Escudo is a slow off roader. I own the european version, the Vitara, and that car is slooow but really really capable off road car. When I first found out about this version, I was amazed how they managed to make a fast racing car out of the skeleton of Escudo/Vitara.
I first played gran turismo whe 3 came out for ps2 I lost an entire summer to that game lol. this car was incredibly fast the front tires would lift of the track
Me too, the tune was insane and on the oval it would ride the outside wall on corners after understeering on turn in 🤣 Still have my ps2 and the game but need a new controller or a proper seat with mounting for my Logitech steering wheel and pedals, I never upgraded the system or game and at 51 still love having a thrash around in all the different cars
Excellent video! The Escudo is imo the coolest car in the world. Imagine driving it on the streets. And Tajima is a hero of mine since I learned of the pilot of the mighty Escudo when I was a boy. Keep making great videos! Awesome channel!
Watched your Euthasia video game and Delta Wing videos this morning. I then immediately subscribed. I'm shocked this channel doesn't have more subscribers.
I used to do endurance races on circular tracks. With this car it rides the wall at 215 mph. Use rubber bands to hold down the acceleration then use another rubber band to hold the analog sticks so its rides the wall. Youll win every time and can farm money and cars.
Searched for Monster Tajima, got a good lesson on the Escudo. 10/10 will sub and watch again. Edit for rant: I still feel Pikes Peak is limp wristed since it went full tarmac, I do not doubt the skill of those who compete, I just feel that the prestige is less. Saftey is paramount, but it makes for boring/complacent drivers.
Thank you! I agree for the tarmac: it's a shame we don't have anymore the old road but unfortunately nothing in this world is eternal. And that's what makes thing special if you think about it :)
That Was some good times in GT2, had 2 of them...the first one had 1990hp and the other one on GT3 had special setting were that beast went over 800km/h (only on the test course) One of the best childhood memories 💪🏽
Fantastic video, had a glass of wine while watching this. And you kept that Gran Turismo lounge music, lovely to hear. Legend of a car! P.S the Ridge Racer type 4 aesthetic at the end
No.. no.. that Song make me life again. Great Suzuki Escudo Pikes peak, R32 HKS, Toyota Supra Denso, Pennzoil Nismo, Mazda RX7 Miyamoto kiyoshi, Evo all Edition, ohh... Legend never Repeat... Nice Memmory
