I feel the struggle of translating. haha, if you're raised multilingual like most Filipinos, you're mind kind of goes on search spree around your brain for words when translating...

in the real world, sorbetes is we buy in cones from the street sorbeteros, and we now commonly say it's ice cream we buy in gallons or in cups at supermarkets.
@herrfriberger5
@herrfriberger5 7 лет назад
Strange... sorbet (or sorbé or sorbetto) is not the same as glace or ice cream, in most languages. Sorbet has as no cream or milk in it, and usually no egg either.
@maricarmendoza583

Some Filipino words are Spanish but somewhat corrupted like "sorbetes" Frozen coconut juice is what we call sorbet.

😁 Enjoyed this video. Thanks Martin! Filipino is pronounced the way it's spelled. We say 'sorbetes' for ice cream which is actually Spanish. It is an adopted vocabulary due to 300+ years of colonization.
@patrick7932003

More people actually say "ice cream" than "sorbetes". "Sorbetes" commonly means nowadays "dirty ice cream" (the one that sorbetero sells).

The whole Philippines can totally relate to the Filipina. Translating pure tagalog from pure english is sometimes hard because our language's grammar is very different from English. Sometimes we even forget words because we borrow words from the English language. Swedish and English are both Germanic languages that's why the Filipina has an easier time imitating him :)

" just like como esta (kumusta) so u'll address that like "bien" (good) or "estoy bien" (im good) or if u know spanish u addressed it appropriately based on the mood youre at. btw que tal and como esta is kinda same but sometimes used differentl depends on the conversation.

Most non-filipino people know the language as Filipino, because it's the main language of the Philippines. But it's technically called Tagalog because in the Philippines, they speak many languages (Bisaya, Tausug, etc.) :)
@jaydel3
@jaydel3 8 лет назад
+Natalie Codina no the main language is literally called Filipino, which is derived from Tagalog. Linguists use the term Filipino because it encompasses many languages like Spanish, English, Chinese, Hindi. Pure Tagalog is not used anymore as it is more complicated. For example Tagalog technically doesn't use Spanish to tell time. Filipino allows the usage of Spanish terms as a norm..like a las tres y media for 3:30
@jaydel3
@jaydel3 8 лет назад
+jaydel3 and in modern times Spanish time has been replaced almost entirely by English time. Most will just say it's three thirty.
