Synthetic Big Jock is the best brush I have ever had. Lathers like a beast, simple as simple to maintain and it looks like new after every shave. PERFECT
I use only and only the synthetic bristles shaving brush no boar hair or badger hair brushes as you have well said that no animal had to die for my morning shave.
I wouldn't condone animals being killed purely for their hair i shouldn't think many people eat badgers. bore brushes are ok though because you know the hair would be a by product
Thanks for the video. We have been making small batches of brushes to go with our Dottie Shaving Bowls and never liked the idea of using Badger knots. Synthetics are the way to go.
I owned both types of brushes and for me badger is significantly better. Recently, in light of new rules, we must find a way to like synthetic and that's perfectly fine. But overall, badger is better in my opinion.
Several years ago badger may have been better but nowadays new generation synthetic brushes are far better. Our new Wee Man Shaving Brush has the latest generation 4 synthetic fibres, this is far better than any badger brush on the market. www.executive-shaving.co.uk/wee-man-synthetic-travel-shaving-brush-in-case
Was recentyl gifted an Omega Roma and though at first skeptical of synth brushes in general I've tho say it definitelly grew on me, never been one for badger brushes but always had a thing for good old boar, after this I may definitelly switch to synth.
Great video. I have also recently purchased my first synthetic brush, previous to that I had used two different badger brushes over a period of about 15 years. I am really impressed with synthetic brushes, so much so that I have already ordered a second one, the new one is very densely packed contrary to the first one. I don't think I'll ever go back to badger or any other animal hair based brushes. I pretty much agree with all the arguments you presented in this video.
One downside that is often forgotten for synthetics. Is once it needs to be dispose unlike the badger hair brush which will decomposes naturally into the environment. The synthetic will become a forever plastic and contaminating the environment. While it maybe a byproduct of the oil industry. It still financially aids them. At least boar hair brush are a byproduct of wild boar meat unlike badger brushes.
Yes, however this isn't the case when it comes to how badger brushes are made hence why we have chosen to no longer stock them. We do stock some Vielong horsehair brushes which are animal friendly and ethically made.
Hell, i have to wash my hands after petting dogs or cats, and if they lick my face, i break out, if i can't at least run water over it, i think the only brushes i could trust, are synthetic ones.
I have heard of many instances whereby men have had allergic reactions to badger, horse and boar hair shaving brushes but I have yet to hear of anyone having an adverse reaction from using a synthetic shaving brush. Thanks for watching. Brian.
There are pros and cons to each brush. I'm against the slater of animals to simple produce a product. I was raised to make full use of animals used for food and that no part of it should be wasted. And this is how it's always been with my family and my people. As a wildlife biologist, the issue I have with synthetics is the fact that we don't need more plastics in our environment, we already have rivers and streams chocked with plastics and there are massive 80,000+ ton islands of plastic floating in our oceans and kill whales, dolphins, sea turtles and other marine life. I'm keeping the 6 badgers, 3 synthetics and 5 boar brushes I have. And any new brush will be boar's hair shaving brushes.
Thanks for the video! Never tried a badger brush, but i got two synthetic shaving brushes and i love them both. Sir Marlon Grant [softer] and Proraso [harder] brushes.
Stick to your synthetic brushes, these are much better! If you're ever looking to upgrade your brush we have an extensive range of synthetic brushes here - www.executive-shaving.co.uk/mens-shaving/shaving-brushes/synthetic-shaving-brushes
Don't get me wrong: I'm not a vegan, not even a vegetarian. And yet I always look hard with most of the products that I buy to find animal-free products that offer a comparable quality, e. g. when shopping shaving creams and soaps, brushes etc. And in most cases, there are animal-free products available that offer at least the same, often even a better quality or improved features. I used badger brushes for most of my shaving "career", simply because synthetic brushes 35 or even 10 years ago didn't offer the same lathering qualities and ease of handling than badger brushes. But that changed with the advent of the Silvertip Fibre and other great synthetic hair, and ever since I switched to synthetic brushes, I haven't looked back.
1:40 that part was unexpected and made me smile big. Knowing you and the company care enough to say that and eventually discontinue badger brush sale on your site is plenty to keep me a loyal customer.
Just the video i was looking for, i posted something recently on a other video about this item. I would say: pick what you like. For me i chose the EJ syntetic brush ivory, because i dont want an animal to die for it. Its my first and i really like it, but i still going to look for a softer sytentic brush(i find the tips of my EJ a bit hard on my skin). Thanks for this video. Great comany you are!
Our all new Wee Man Synthetic Shaving Brush is one to consider, this benefits from the latest generation 4 synthetic fibres making it far superior to other brushes on the market! www.executive-shaving.co.uk/wee-man-synthetic-travel-shaving-brush-in-case
Notwithstanding humans' general lack of empathy towards animals and the fact that badgers and boars aren't exactly tame or cuddly, I doubt if these creatures are actually killed for just their hair
@@ExecutiveShaving not doubting that's the case for badger, but I would have thought boar hair was a by-product given boar burgers/sausages are fairly common? Are you likely to stock any more boar or horse hair brushes in the future?
@@ExecutiveShaving We don’t need to prove it. We’re the customer. If you don’t want to provide a product, we’ll get it elsewhere. If you don’t want to sell it fine, but preaching isn’t good for business. I suspect your sales are down for badger because we buy it elsewhere, where the business wants our business. West Coast Shave, you got mine!
@@charliemcawesome5012 Sales for synthetic brushes have soared in recent years and financially we have benefitted from that. We have also seen significant growth in the number of new customers we attract so from where I'm sitting it was the right decision morally and financially. Brian
The background music is much too loud, and not necessary in my opinion. It makes it hard to clearly hear what you say... Almost made me not watching the video, but stayed because i wanted to hear what you had to say.
We no longer stock badger hair brushes for this very reason! We don't believe an animal should have to die for a shaving brush and so we now only sell top-quality synthetic shaving brushes. You can read our full statement on this here: www.executive-shaving.co.uk/blog/post/the-executive-shaving-company-badger-hair-and-shaving-brushes-a-statement
Only if the Boar is some sort of robot terminator Boar from the future. If their hair proves superior, I'm sure Executive Shaving will use them at some point
That about cruelty against animals thing is pointless. You will not buy a good badger brush to save badgers, but you will buy a synthetic one that has a hell of a carbon footprint (they do not grow on trees you know), and eat a ton of chicken nuggets...
Thanks for your feedback, we are unable to remove this music at this stage but have noted this for future videos. You can enable closed captions by hitting 'c' on your keyboard.
you choose between two outcomes 😢 either support killing badgers or support china in repressions against uyghur people, being uyghur myself, as a side note, I could confirm that uyghur people are human too
No Animal had to die, all they are, are animals, there is nothing wrong with killing an animal for it to benefit Human beings, human life is more important than that of an animal life.
And as you are right, all there are, are animals. But, are the animals that make your brushes living like animals? Or are they born in metal cages and die by being choked to death in gas engines. Do some research on how you acquire your daily shave and you may enlighten yourself, unless you are just a cruel, unaware, and willfully oblivious bastard. Look up fur trade industry in China.
GuTWorm68 yea but plastic isn’t born and lives it’s life in a metal cage and killed by gas engines. The quality difference is so extremely minimal that the humanitarian reasons far supersede any reason to purchase a badger hair brush.
