ok, this was/is an excellent tutorial on sterilization. I had no idea, I was never exposed or taught anything about chemistry or laboratory procedures in any secondary schooling. Thank you for the demonstration, it was very succinct. 👌🏅
Hi every Body. I would like to make some correction. It must be keep in mind that we must pull the piston first then fix filter in front of syringe. Otherwise, if we add filter before pulling the piston then when we pull the piston, microbes and spores can stuck to the open end of the filter and can be entered in the solution.
A reasonably good video of sterile filtration, but there are a couple of points to note. As others stated, it is best to remove the plunger of the syringe prior to attaching the filter. Also, one should keep in mind which parts of the apparatus must be kept sterile. The narrator in the video points out that the syringe is handled with aseptic technique, but this is unnecessary. There is no need to be so careful upstream of the filter; rather, it is everything downstream of the filter, starting from the exit tip, that is essential. This includes the tubes one is filtering into. The video shows these tubes as open to the air far from the Bunsen burner, and this should never be done. Keep the receiving tubes/bottles near the flame and covered at all times except when receiving the sterile liquid.
Thank you for this great video But I think it is better to do the sterilization insid lmenar flaw and also I want to tell you that asptic taq so the plunger is one of the critical sites on the syringes so that you can not touch it Thank you please give us more videos
Its not a good way to pull plunger and pour into syringe. It can not only damage syringe filter from reverse pulling force, and contaminate the solutions.
