The Syrp Genie II is a brand new timelapse motion control system. The Genie II kit consists of the Genie II Pan and Tilt head and the Genie II Linear. This system works on any existing video or timelapse slider and is incredibly versatile. In this video I take the new gear out of the box and show you how to do a basic setup. I also mount it on my Kessler stealth slider and on a small wheeled dolly. Keep an eye out for Part 2 where I will be reviewing both units and using them in the field. What do you do for a living?
- I am a commercial timelapse photographer. This means people or brands hire me to produce timelapse or hyperlapse footage. Some of my clients include Canon, Samsung, Microsoft, Ford, Tourism Australia, Dubai, Vanuatu Philippines, etc.
- I live in Sydney, Australia. I moved here from Antwerp, Belgium in 2013 in the pursuit of love and adventure! Ja, ik spreek nederlands.

had the Gen 1 and as the 3 axis couldnt handle the weight of the 1D the Kessler was my only option, this is a great Gen2 of the product thats for sure.

Thank you for this video! Anyone here used this for interviews? I'm trying to decide between this and the new Rhino coming out in late August. I plan to use for interviews first, but also some time lapse work. Looking for a decent portable solution. Both this and the Rhino have appeal. Thanks all !

Took me a while to decide on buying. Before seeing this video, I had decided to buy the linear kit. I am giving the pan/tilt some consideration rather than buying the 2 genie minis with the brackets for pan/tilt. But I have to pose a question... what is the difference really between the pan/tilt unit and 2 genies with brackets?

This may be a question already asked: can you mount this system (including the magic carpet/tracks) to a single tripod? I’ve seen a shoot where they used two tripods during a dolly move. Just wondering, it would be nice to not need a second tripod. Thank you for your help, I deeply appreciate it.

What worries me about the product if how it wiggles when it is all put together. I wonder if it will shake from even smalls winds and ruin the lapse.

I have used the SS for years, it's a solid piece of kit but it is heavy and big, with lots of cables and connection points (motion controller and external battery). What I like about the Genie II is the ease of use, design and portability. This is a product that will keep on expanding it's functionalities. They both have their specific uses but for what I need (with the amount of travel I do) the Genie II takes the cake.

ive had my geni2 pan/tilt replaced... after unboxing 2nd model .... firmware update i got crashed no screen on tilt and linear out as well?.... updated finally hours later the Bluetooth bombs out and i get no slider control with geni 2 linear and tilt?.. ive had a canon 3pin cable replaced to receive a defective second unit..?... it seems like reviewers are the only working units ?

@@MatthewVandeputte yeah theres helpers ben on instgram..vashwa?.. some folks ive been there problem child for weeks...my slingshot arrived with broken bolts? A 3pin cable was not firing ... but theres tips sent forcing firmware is possable

i just purchased it and used them on my sat wedding, the tilt is a little jittery but i used it with a C200 and atomos so the weight was there.... but there was some noticeable jitter.. I also have an issue with when you shut the unit off to save the battery the tilt shuts down and the unit with the weight of the camera causes it to fall.. not good for a 10k c200.. working with CS to see if there is anything that can solve these issues. didn't know about the lock button on the pan/tilt head but looks like it may be just for temp locking solution only while holding it down. if anyone wants to see the jitter, reply back and i can post a link to the clips on my server.

@@tobiasmorgancreatives What lens did you use? Were you able to balance your rig with that short base plate? What standard is the base plate? It doesn't quite look like Arca-Swiss and I don't see it anywhere.

Matthew, I have been wanting to buy a Syrp Mini Genie, but the reviews on Amazon are horrendous. I want it really bad, I just don't want to waste my money.

soooo freaking expensive...way too expensive for me when pre order was on I saw it on their page for 899$, was very happy when i saw that but well

Hi, you must have been looking at just the Genie II Linear which is $899 on launch. The price is a reflection of how much technology we packed into the device and the design and engineering time to make it super quick and easy to setup which took us just over 3 years of intense R&D. The features under development for future app updates are endless! Also for a cheaper alternative you can combine Genie Mini with Genie II Linear :)

Over-priced . Why would anyone buy this system, I guess people who didn't do their research., because there are other systems out there for a lot less.
