@@iexist6677 the internet isn’t in 2020 anymore, i think we’re past cringe culture lol /lh /nm /gen if you don’t like a song that’s okay, but for me it’s a comfort song and i’m sad you don’t enjoy it :(
I see a lot of people recommending "This is Home" but Cavetown has made a later version of that called "Home" and maybe you should check those out together! Also Sweet Tooth and For You by Cavetown are some personal favorites of mine too!
Cavetowns lyrics mean the world to me, and him as a person. He litterally is my comfort music artist and probably always will be. I love seeing the appreciation of him in this video
Would you believe me if I said he made Devil Town when he was around 15-16? Boys Will be Bugs is made around the saying “Boys will be Boys.” and Juliet is speculated to be about the trans Experience FTM (Both were made when he was 20.) I would recommend for next time Lemon Boy (One of his most famous songs ever) and This is Home/Home (Home is a remade Version of This is Home, which he made at 14.) Glad you're finally listening to Robbie!
@@Kiara-jk2fi Well people have conflicting opinions on it. There are a lot of theories, but the biggest theory is that its about to trans experience because of the lyrics such as I hope that she looks at me and thinks “shit he's so pretty.” something i cant believe. But it could also be taken as a romantic song as well. People have different opinions, that's just some opinions.
@@PinesLife oh ok, yeah i was just wondering. imo considering its called juilet plus the lyrics i thought it was abt loving/liking someone who you cant have (it goes way deeper but im not gonna explain all of that lol)
@@Kiara-jk2fi people have different opinions. As trans FTM myself. And from other queer people, we have a different opinion than you, and that's just the way of life.
@@PinesLife i know i never said anything against it..i was asking a genuine question and yeah people interpret things differently thats perfectly okay i literally just asked cause i was curious...😃
If I had a cent for every time I’ve seen a grown man cry while listening to cavetown, I would have two cents…..for now And I couldn’t be happier that my favorite artist gets to the heart of everyone
Cavetown's lyrics are always amazing and fun to interpret. A few suggestions I have are 1994, juno, and Fall in Love with a Girl. All 3 of these are very different and I feel that these three help give an idea of present day Cavetown.
Yesss, cavetown, Lovejoy and Bears in Trees is like the holy trinity of loser indie music. If you plan on making a part two I would highly recommend "Meteor Shower" and "Home" :DD
HELL YEAH!!! Cavetown has been one of my favorite artists for the longest time, so I'm so excited about this ^^ He just has a way with writing cool and evocative, relatable lyrics, and his music is just so comfy feeling... like a friend, almost. For more songs to listen from him my reccs would be: - Pigeon - Home - Green - Hug all your Friends - Jack's song - Sweet tooth - Wishing Well but tbh there's so many I love (i don't think I have a single song i actively dislike in his entire discography), so this is a very short list jsfsjh Thank you for doing this video :)
Another vote for a part two with “Home” (or This is Home, but i feel like Home is better representative for the how Robbie is as a person now) “Lemon Boy” and “Meteor Shower!” 🥰🥰
I def think you should do a part two. Cavetown used to be a really big fan of Twenty One Pilots sonhas a couple covers you could check out from when he was a teenager. Plus a lot of his earlier music is inspired by TOP. for originals i'd check out This is Home (and the remade version called Home), Lemon Boy, Fool as his more popular songs. Devil Town also has a bunch of different versions with a ukulele based one called Devil Town V2 with a bridge and another verse, an acoustic guitar one called V3, and two live ones that take after V2 and V1 but now that hes older and has a deeper voice
@@literallyno1260 @literallyno1260 hahaha i mean i think anyone who likes his music is a real fan. just cause ive been here longer than most doesn't mean much imo. i get what you mean tho. it's so wild seeing how big he's gotten. i remember when he announced his first tour and now he's absolutely massive 🥹🥹🥹
Robin is a trans man, so his older songs his voice is noticeably higher pitched, but he definitely sounds good either way! Boys will be bugs is about toxic masculinity/the pressure put on boys to be tough, and it's especially interesting through the lens of a trans man, i think in many cases there's even more pressure on trans men to be strong, to not be emotional, etc. to be seen as "real" men. (also pretty sure he was older than 14 when he wrote it, but the song is from the perspective of a 14 year old, hence the childish lyrics) and juliet is definitely a song about his depression and insecurities.
The meaning behind the words in songs like devil town are at first not obvious but once you know more about cavetown then it gets so much more real, it's incredible
This Is Home, Green, and Taking Care Of Things are my favorite Cavetown songs so I'd recommend checking those out. The MV for Green is so sadly beautiful 💚
Omg!!! WHAT didn’t expect you to listen to cavetown AT ALL he usually doesn’t get a lot of video like this Aaaa I’m really happy cavetown’s music has been a part of my life for so long (definitely my most listened artist) Like his songs were always comforting but now they also feel nostalgic haha Anyways it really brings me joy when I meet someone in person or someone on youtube connects with his stuff so thanks for that :))
Oh yeah and his concerts are always absolutely amazing of course it’s always great connecting with the music live but what I feel is really special about his concerts is how both him and his audience genuinely seem like extremely kind and supportive people I always make sure to go when he’s touring near me
I’m actually confused whether you were trying to say an insult or not… I decided to answer like it wasn’t :) If i had to say, I would rate the two at a similar level. Which is part of why I love both. Still, they are very different since pride is for everyone. It’s about accepting others no matter how little you have in common. Concerts are somewhere you end up because you love/relate heavily to the music. Most of Cavetown’s music is about difficult emotions and all of that is shaped by his life which notably includes him being a part of the lgbtq. So it’s logical that the people who can relate the most are also queer. So yeah if that bothers anyone I guess steer clear of cavetown concerts. That way it’s doing everyone a favour
I found out Cavetown's touring in Australia and New Zealand in 2024, and I'm so stoked. I wanna go so bad. This artist, like many others, helped me through tough times as a silly teenager who thought the world was out to get me. I'm so glad I found your channel. You pointed out stuff that I myself did when I first listened to him, but also stuff that I hadn't known and am glad you helped me notice. I can't wait to see what else you've got posted!
this is so cool!! i see a lot of comments recommending the same songs of cavetown's, so i'm going to go ahead and say that while all his popular songs are amazing, his older songs and albums, including ones that aren't officially released/on spotify (such as rocket ships, ghost boys, it's all good and unpopular kid makes a friend), really hit different and if you do enjoy robbie's music i'd have to recommend those to you- 16/04/16 and dear. are probably my overall favourite albums of his!! but of course, adore pretty much all their music so if you do a second part, whatever you react to would be cool!! also glad you appreciated the lyrics, their lyrics are- i can't describe it, but some hit really hard and can be quite relatable. 'we're alive' is currently a song which lyrics get to me a lot :D
YEAHH, ghost boys and it's all good (as well as hazel, knight knuckles and I'll make cereal) have been big faves of mine and lowkey really nostalgic,, there's just something about them that makes you think of laying in bed at 4 am and crying 'till you're numb yknow (or maybe that's just projection haha). AND YES 'we're alive' is so underrated!! Very much agree overall :)
I highly recommend cavetown's 16/04/16 album, it's one of my favourite albums of all time and way too underrated. It has quite a different and experimental sound from his other stuff and has very relatable and introspective lyrics. So much talent at such a young age. In your next video you should react to jack's song, I cried the first time I heard it.
ik this is an oldish video but i would love to see you do crywank, i love them and tomorrow is nearly yesterday is one of my favorite albums of all time
I absolutely love your vibe and it would be so cool if you could do a part 2 reacting to cavetown! I would recommend songs like 'Things That Make It Warm', 'Sweet Tooth' and 'Telescope' as those are some of my favorites by him
Definitely add Moon Walker to the list!!! They're not as well known but are an anarchist rock/funk band. We saw them recently and they stayed and talked to every single person for a couple of hours after the show :) but the music, the lyrics, everything is awesome!
I always put on his cover of Chewing Cotton Wool by The Japanese House to fall asleep. He is one of my favorite artist and has been for so many years even though my music tastes has changed so much.
there are so many amazing songs that you could listen to but itd be really cool if you listened to one song from like each of his albums , cos each one is so vastly different and amazing , i think itd be really cool for you to see his evolution
i would love a part two with cavetown! since ur a TOP fan i would reccomend listening to his song "everything is tmporary" has a kinda top vibe to it! an as for other bands to cehck out i would love to see The backseat lovers if you havent checked them out yet!
im rly hoping for a part 2 cuz i love cavetown sm- id reccomend meteor shower, home, grocery store, and devil town V2 which has a different vibe to devil town V1
Right now you've listened to cavetown and lovejoy (my favourite artists) , I feel I gotta try TØP. Anyone have any song recommendations? I also love "talk to me" by cavetown and would really recommend it
@@rubytaxicab they both sound so cool!! Ruby has been stuck in my head for hours , and Taxi Cab is so strangely happy yet sad simultaneously! I'm definitely listening to more TØP lol
@@treble_exists it makes me happy that you enjoyed my two favorite songs from my favorite band. I hope you have a good time listening to other songs by them :)
do you listen to game OSTs? if so, since you're planning on listening to Bo En, you should take a look at the Omori OST. The songs on there are fantastic and emotional, and a few feature Bo En and Toby Fox :D
oh also, cavetown is 24, he was 20 when he released Animal Kingdom, their voice changed a lot over the 4 years prior between cavetown and animal kingdom too as he went through HRT
Some options for other artists, if you haven't listened to them: Alec Benjamin AJR We Three (Sara, Heaven's Not Far Away, Nightlight) Connan Grey Nico Collins
Please, please listen to Monsters Are Men! "I of the Storm", "Little Talks", "Wolves Without Teeth" and "King and Lionheart" are my absolute favorites.
Amazing video as always! May I suggest you listen to an artist called Ricky Jamaraz? He's more on the smaller side so I don't think you'd get many recommendations for him, but he's one of my favourite artists ever and has a lot of different styles of songs. My favourite songs of his are 'The World Is Fucked," "Ohio But Make It Emo," "Operation Peanut Butter," "Dead Flowers", "Goodbye Maximillian," "For The Food," and 'Dad." If you listen to his most popular ones, those probably wouldn't show up, which is fine in my opinion because I don't think he has many bad songs. Sorry for the huge paragraph, but if you do listen to him, I hope you enjoy. Have a great rest of your day!
@@KissMeBetterAllNightLong tbh i dont even remember. i know a buddy of mine told me to listen to this is home and wasn't a fan. i tried other songs and also wasn't impressed.
