In this video we will be going over my preferred method for creating T-Shirts in Blender. This will involve mostly simple cloth simulations, while briefly toughing on sculpting and sewing. Hope it is useful for you guys and don't forget to leave a like and subscribe!

Very good video because contrary to most of other tutorials, you show the whole process with finishes. But i think you should close the gaps created by sewing for most realistic cloth, with Bridge edge loops, adding edges loops and a little extrusion. For those who have problems, you could also check face orientation and apply Scale (CTRL + A in object mode). If you want, you can also use Screencast-keys, an addon to display the keys you use with your keyboard/mouse ;) Bye and thanks !

Nice tutorial! Drawing loose/baggy clothes is very interesting. U gotta think about tension points to place those folds. In 3d you have to know how clothes are sewed in real life to make them realistic, same goes for UV-unwrapping.

If the armature modifier hasn't been applied, I would say that you could do the following: Add a keyframe for the pose. Move it foward in the timeline. Then, earlier in the timeline (but not at the start), clear all transforms, then add another keyframe. Finally, go to the start of the timeline, and add one more keyframe. This will allow you to add the shirt to the character without a pose. The time between your first two keyframes (which are both in rest-pose) will allow your cloth simulation to settle into place before the character begins to move into their pose.

Thank you so much! This and your other tutorials are great, but when I tried it, no matter what I did, the T-shirt wouldn't drape like this and would just bunch up in weird ways and would seem to "float" instead. I was just about to give up and just manually sculpt it when I discovered something that neither this nor any other tutorials I found mentions (or maybe I just missed it). Maybe it's just so basic that none of the experts remember it's a thing, (especially since it only needs to be done once, ever) BUT.... for anyone else who might be struggling for the same reason.... Blender doesn't have GRAVITY turned on by default (at least mine didn't). You have to go into your scene settings and turn it on. Once I did that, suddenly everything worked perfectly.

This is a very good video. But when trying with proportional editing to get the surface closer to the arms so that we obtain a good shape on the sleeves, how do we get that circle in the centre? Using Blender 4.1.

I have this one minute scene I'd like to animate, and ive been binging A LOT of your tutorials because they're EXACTLY what I need. My only question, once I have the cloth in the rough shape I want around my character, do i just bake it for the entire scene I'm animating and it'll work? I've had issues in he past getting my cloth sims to stick to my character or armature, and even pinning it never helped. But your tutorials make it look SO easy I'm willing to give this beast known as cloth simulation another go!!
@hobbyhunt6347

Thank you so much for commenting! In my experience it DEEPLY depends on the animations your trying to accomplish. The Blender Cloth Sims being what they are, have a hard time sticking with your character in faster animations. This is just a hard truth. If its a moderate to slower character animation you SHOULD be fine to just click bake (starting the bake at the T-pose) and baking out the entirety of the animation in one go. If you haven't already, I recommend checking out this video (I believe it has the most useful info for what your trying to do). ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-jCjaCSpd2GM.htmlsi=fbqBoZ8MZnR5HXZ2 I know I didn't really give you any useful info there. If your still have trouble send me another comment in detail about the problem and maybe we can figure it out.

@@hobbyhunt6347 ah! I've already watched that one! It's the one I'm heavily taking notes from and plan to revisit over the course of my project. (Along with many others) Also thanks for the honesty 💝 It just feels like I've been mislead to believe "BLENDER CLOTH SIMS CAN DO ANYTHING YOU PUT YOUR MIND TO!! YOU JUST HAVE TO BELIEVEEEEE!" And then I get frustrated when I **can't** do ANYTHING! My animation is a dance one, so it already seems I've been set up for failure. I might put the cloth sim on the skirt or a jacket or earring, but at least now if things simply won't work out, I can cut my losses and continue with the project instead of spending days to weeks trying to fix a problem that's just unfixable. (Like I'd hopelessly do before) Thank you so much again! Will definitely be a devout subscriber!! 🛐💕💞

May I ask, is there a way to layer the clothing? Like a T-shirts under a flannel long sleeve open shirt?

@hobbyhunt6347
@hobbyhunt6347 7 месяцев назад
Wow..... That's a tough one. If I were to venture a guess/suggestion, I'd look into maybe either the collision settings for your character, making sure that the outer and inner distance are turned down all the way. If that doesn't work, I would then suggest making sure your character is fairly large and then shrinking down your cloth sim later if you care about the correct scale. For whatever reason larger characters and Simulations work better and more naturally in blender. If none of that helps.... I'm at a loss my friend. 😬

Did I miss something in the second bake? Did it bake the shirt into the final pose?
@hobbyhunt6347
@hobbyhunt6347 9 месяцев назад
I apologize for not making it clear enough. yes, since my character had already had a pose keyed in, after the second bake the shot was essentially done, aside from minor modifiers such as the solidify modifier and the subdivision surface modifier.

Can someone please explain exactly what benefits of sewing are there? I admit, I fail every attempt to make a t-shirt, but it's just perfect when I mesh the cloth manually, starting with cube. What do I lose if I just mesh a t-shirt? (not talking about some complex things here). Thanks.
@hobbyhunt6347
@hobbyhunt6347 6 месяцев назад
When it comes to just a T-shirt and no other clothing items, I don't think you lose really anything by just creating the mesh yourself. This is simply the method I prefer because I find it the most simple, and sometimes I like the clothing I created to have seams which by sewing, seems are naturally created. In the end I guess it's all just up to preference :) .... And also tight clothing :) Thank you for taking the time to leave a comment
@DOLGOVUSER
@DOLGOVUSER 6 месяцев назад
@@hobbyhunt6347 I would like to also thank you for your time to answer. It's just as I thought. But if we talk about more complex clothing: isn't it easier to just mesh it manually, rather than meshing parts and tweaking\baking it over and over till it fit?
