I wish everyone saw this movie before getting into a long term relationship. So many people self-sabotaged a good relationnship because they got excited by an affair partner. As they say in the movie "new things get old too". If you are in a good relationship with someone that loves you, take care of you and is not abusive, the hot passion will fade eventually and only an attachement will remain, but please stay and try to make things works, try to reignire the spark if you wish. You will always feel a gap, unmet needs. If you leave somone who meet 80% of your needs to get the 20% missing from someone else, you will regret it. Stay loyal!

That line, from when Sarah Silverman is lecturing her is one of the few missteps of the film, imo. Ok her husband was a nice guy but only five years in and he had nothing to say to her? Why was she guilt tripped by the sister for wanting more from life?
@viejachancletuda
@viejachancletuda 6 лет назад
This movie is not really about cheating. It all comes down to that one simple line....Life has a gap in it, and you do not need to go crazy trying to fill it. You simply accept it and appreciate and be thankful for what YOU DO HAVE. She had a wonderful marriage, and she threw it away for excitement with something new. And in the end, there will always be something missing.
@luciejiraskova5853
@luciejiraskova5853 4 года назад
viejachancletuda what was wonderful about that empty marriage? He had nothing to say to her....in a happy marriage you learn about each other every single day, and you talk because there is no way to “know everything already”. He was not invested in that marriage and her. She drifted into her own emptiness. But you never know one day you can fill up the “gap”, she just could not do it being besides him.

@luciejiraskova5853
@luciejiraskova5853 3 года назад
@Christopher Mosley I do not need to go back to watch this movie. It was about boredom in an empty marriage. New things get old. Of course she long for excitement in bed, and she def had emotional issues she did not know how to deal with. But sorry, if the husband has nothing to talk to you “because they live with each other and know each other”, then whats the point of staying in such relationship?! You ll never get to really know each other thru your lives lived together, every day you can learn something new about your partner and together should figure out how to carry on a conversation. He was totally taking her for granted shutting down the attempt for conversation. Their marriage turned into a “living with a roommate” thing. And I just dont think they knew how to save their marriage. It was time to move on (and find a decent therapist). My take on this movie.
@luciejiraskova5853
@luciejiraskova5853 3 года назад
@Reinging Bhai OMG. Its just a movie. Do you think I remember its beginning, middle or details of the end? She had emotional problems. Of course she wanted to go back to her husband, she could not handle loneliness and with her husband at least she would find some security we all seek and like I said that the “new becomes old”. And of course she realized that the affair did not fulfill her. That does not mean she should stay with a husband, who has nothing to talk about with her 🙄 Jeez who cares!? Have a good day!

This movie has a great lesson; relationship can't always be near that all-time-high level of passion like at the beginnig, it's normal for that hot red passionate romance to cool down and move on to the next phase. Being addicted to that feeling of excitement and passion will never be satisfied unless you hop from one short-term relationship to the next, but eventually being content with just yourself instead of looking for that feeling from someone else.

i agree with it being very sad but i love how its balanced with the music and color so it's not completely depressing to watch. you feel sorry for seth rogen but really she's the one who needs pity for never finding the beauty and satisfaction in her life. she plays a similar role in blue valentine actually however her husband in that one is rather unperceptive oversensitive and childish unlike her husband in this film.

That’s why quest of happiness never ends. Every human goes through that phase because we’ve been filled with lots of information about humanity nature where we completely lost ourselves realization & how our happiness is not what everyone else looking for. It’s called appreciation of what we have & chose once. It’s us who chose for a reason. It’s the same person So why we question it again ? It’s easy , what you fail to keep will make you invent a reason to look for happiness. That’s hard when you realize at the end that happiness lays within feeling a winner in what you chose. You just failed to see the beauty in it anymore & slowly you failed to keep it.

and important,to be happy with yourself being alone.often people fall in love with an idea of a relationship,a lifestyle,what is missing in their life.I think its great that they show the "after part",romantic comedies would never show.of course you think you love someone in the heat of moments.& you probably do.but sometimes not for long.if they wouldnt have had the chance to be together&giveitatry,she would have thought that he´s the love of her life. which he probably wasn´t. he was one love.

Unfaithful is a good movie. One of the funniest moments of my life was coming downstairs to find my dad interrogating my mother as to why she had any interest in watching a movie about a cheater, as though her watching the movie was an indicator of her own behavior. He was really upset about it, and If you knew my mother you would have laughed, too!

I like your summary. This is correct. It sets a tone that resonates in so many of us....those with strength can get pass it...the intentionality of consciousness is always in search of something with more meaning, value, energy and pleasure...but if we were all to succumb to these emotions we would all be in a roaming around like animals in the wild, humping and thrashing about....which is momentary pleasure and not love.

No one's "celebrating" anyone. The director is just trying to show people who are experiencing something. There's no part of the movie that militates for a happy ending or casts either the "artiste" neighbor nor the wife and their activities in an especially positive light as if to say, "this is cool, do it". Neither does it judge them harshly for it.

Double standards are always prominent in society. I mean from the trailer I look at it as a woman who finds that life is not always boxed into one path, I find it very relatable. That you choose to direct your life and live with the consequences of your actions. If she cheated then it came to this conclusion over time, guys tend not to follow their hearts, I can't say that I've heard of a man who fell in love with another women whilst he was still in love with his current partner, ever :)

Now, I'm just going by the trailer here, but it looks like the main character is in a beautiful marriage with a man who loves her unconditionally, but she is tempted by another man or already had an affair and now is conflicted with the new and exciting option versus the tried and true husband. If that is the case, and my female friends watch this, I NEVER want them to complain about the lack of "good" men out there again. Since women cheat just as much as men, guess this movie is fair game.

I haven't seen the film, and though I bet it's entertaining and the filmography pretty, I do agree there's a stereotype that when a woman cheats it's merited, or at least romantic, but when a guy does he's simply a pig following his genitals. In a perfect world cheating by either sex wouldn't be glamorized, it would be seen the same way: the cowardly resort of a weak, fickle individual. IMO, if you want to cheat you should get out of the relationship first. Once a cheater, always a cheater!
