Great suspension work! People who are saying it looks slow - going too much faster in a Kart that size would just end up bending something with some of the rough terrain he's hitting. I think it's doing a pretty good job as an off-road kart. Wouldn't win any drag races, but that's not what it's built for.

Agreed. It's got all the power it needs. He's not really getting into in this vid either, which just proves he doesn't NEED more power. Don't get me wrong though, the more the merrier. There's never enough HP. LOL

I was just thinking the same thing....I would never want the engine attached to the independent suspension....my guess is you'd be asking for (engine) trouble...but, it's his (money/channel)......I get it...
@jstephenallington8431
@jstephenallington8431 5 лет назад
As long as the engine is mounted fairly close to the pivot point, (of the suspension arm) movement should be a non-issue. The further away from the pivot point it sets, the bigger the issue. Still, mounting them to the frame might have a little less movement.

I wasn't crapping on him by any means his talent is through the roof. the fab work and creativity behind these things is impressive I wouldn't even know where to start. but your exactly right about the frames and chassis hes building. hes putting motors in these things that people are putting in shifter carts that weigh 10x less. that buggy for example is a wild build and is super impressive but you cant put a golf cart motor in a tank and expect it to rip. and idk about 80% grade if you put that much effort into building a tubed chassis like that to have it roll around the yard at 5mph. doesn't need to do 100 but you cant put a golf cart motor in a tank and be like "SUCCESS"

I love that thing! If you fix the suspension problems I would ask about $5500.00. Wish I could afford it! Suggestions: One more shock on each side of the front suspension! One more shock on each side of the rear suspension. Can you add shocks with out adding springs? Small front skid plate (Better to bounce off than dig in). Sway bar not sure where (real curious what affect it would have). Those motors really shake. That can't be good for them! You have become one of my favorite motor sports channels on the Tube!

Looks like you need something to keep your knees in if you roll it. Gullwing style cage doors would look amazing on that thing and should be pretty easy to make. Lil gas rams like the ones that hold open hoods or tailgate glass would be cool too cause then they'd stay open till you pull em shut. Also, it might be a good idea to make some removable thin aluminum/steel or plastic paneling to keep out the sand/dirt/mud and don't forget looking good while they're at it. 😎

make it dual rear shock/springs on each side
@carson901
@carson901 5 лет назад
In addition to stiffening the suspension, it's seems also too high, now most of the acceleration energy/force is wasted in lifting the frame and stretching out the shocks . In resting position the angle of those rear beams should be almost flat, so they won't try to crawl under the frame, but push the frame forward. The frame is not that heavy with the engines on the rear axle basically. I suggest moving the shock position to the horizontal frame bar just above it and a little bit back. This will lower and stiffen the rear suspension a bit an is a relative simple fix. I really like your work, keep it up! :)

@simplybeanjelly
@simplybeanjelly 5 лет назад
If you want to, make the front a-arms shorter, so that it has the same stance as the rear, that might limit travel, but it will stiffen it up with the dual shock setup because of there being less leverage on the shocks. As well as, because the rear suspension needs to be stiffened up anyways, you might wanna look into relocating the shocks and kicking them out further to the sides to allow for you to put bigger shocks in different mounting points on the swing arms and not hit the engines. I think that the reason the one engine wanted to die so much was because of the spark boot being broken, lower idle speeds may mean weaker sparks, and with the cable having to arc to the spark plug because the boot was broken may have caused your running issues. And for the air filter relocator hitting the ammo box situation I would just relocate the ammo box to sit higher or build a different mount for it somewhere else, maybe behind the seat? Anyways, this is seriously one of my favorite builds, and the lack of power may just call for an engine refresh, maybe stage 3? I know I said a lot in one comment, but I'm hoping you see it and are able to consider some of these suggestions :) anyways, keep up the awesome work Chris! I really love watching your videos, and these raw driving videos are a whole lot of fun to watch, especially when I hear you laugh and see you smile and know that you're having fun with your builds, cause that's the most important part! I really liked the helmet cam and the camera on the rear suspension btw...

You could temporarily remove the springs from the suspension so you can test the full range of motion. (in the shop... not while riding it, obviously) As for the bottoming out... do you have a dial to adjust the dampening? The spring stiffness seems fine... just need the shocks to move slower.

Hello, nice job, I think it would be better with higher wheels for handling(would also allow your chains to touch the ground), independent engines in the rear is original, it would take also an additional bar to turn more "flat" by creating a stop with a slight tension on the front suspensions (making them a little firmer, but less likely to capsize). I think it have little bigger wheels to stay in the category" buggy " (10"-12"?),your motors can do,better confort also.

This thing is pretty cool, but after watching this video, I think a better dual engine independent rear suspension setup would have been to set up the rear dirt bike style. Engines mounted to the frame, and then each engine run to it's own swing arm, so that the engines aren't bouncing around like that. With what I am proposing you still have dual engine and IRS.
@MrDilley777

First of all sorry I don't know your name but I for a long time now wanted a fully equipped shop like you have and I'm very impressed with the machining skills and fabrication skills you have. This dual engine mini buggy has the best performing suspension I've seen for mini buggies. What DOM tubing and wall thickness was in this build? I'm guessing 1" and 1 1/4" .120 wall? I do have a J D square air hydraulic tubing bender and Miller 180 wire welder with tubing notcher. I kinda think that it would be better to have one V twin motor with CV axles so that the motors aren't bouncing around, maybe a built predictor 670, they can be built to over 40 hp.
