Maybe work into the explanations that it is normal to be unable to explain certain feelings, because there is a biological gap between sections of the brain. @@TheThomas3110 You must understand disclosing privately with A friend (in recent event it turn out to be Toast who is the only one who know and confront Fed) is massively different from open to public...in the session with Dr.K you can still see the tendency of minimize her own emotion to protect Fed (I would say from my professional view that this was unconscious) until Dr.K hit her with the real question for her to understand the thoughts patents and how destructive it is. This give her a push to come out with the public This is what I admire from this session, a therapist is always try to "named things" as Dr.K said, he give Yvonne the way to figure out how she really feel and put a name on it.
@@flayzer1910 The fact is staying "natural-ness" is very necessary for a good psychiatrist. you are a professional whose job is helping the patient figure out how they feel. It is not his job to pile in with her initial feeling, it will be an obstacle in the path to break open her real emotion. That's a friend job. You can see he was very friendly at the start, because the tactic always is gaining the patient trust to open them up. But it was easy for him since I doubt anyone agree to come on his stream who don't want to open up, the tendency is already exist

The comments on the video with Pokimane seem to be true. We are, slowly but surely, getting the whole Offline TV house in this show. In my opinion, an episode with Scarra or Toast would be great. Edit: I'm not sure when the whole stuff with Fed happened, but I learnt about it 4 days after posting the comment. Funnily enough, this actually amplifies the odds that this does in fact happen. The story with Fed is a really good example of how people that got sexually assaulted, even in a small close group, do not talk about it, for the reasons they mentioned ( mostly not wanting to ruin relationships ) as well as feeling embarassed and/or you thinking it's your fault.
I mean she couldn't really say yes otherwise everyone would know it was one of the OTV guys, most probably Fed because of the drunk story. She was still thinking so much about not naming him.

The fact that it has happened more than once says a lot about his intentions. If he had recognized what he was doing was wrong the first time then he would have learned from that and try to avoid repeating his mistakes. However, he didn't.

As an outside observer, she seems to be doing well now. In case you didn't know, she and a bunch of other girls spoke out against the guy a few days after this interview and he's out of their lives now, the internet assholes have moved on, and she seems happy.
Lesson to all of y'all: when someone freezes up when being sexually assaulted... the mind/body goes into survival mode. Yvonne (and Lily) knew it wasn't right, but because of the SEVERE consequences compiled with their genuine compassionate personalities... it was easier to just bottle it up and avoid him in the end... I'm so glad they had the courage to speak out.

True I understand how she feels that her increase in popularity wasn't earned by her, but through offline TV. In which its kind of true that offline TV helped but its due to her that those followers and sub stayed. If she wasn't entertaining, those who came from offline tv would never had kept watching her streams and RU-vid vids. Same for the rest of offline TV and friends. If we didn't happen to watch one of their content, we wouldn't have known about the other entertaining streamers their friends with.

well, he is streaming and making videos to actually understand more about this new streaming-gaming community. The community and being a "stream celebrity" is old, but now is so normal and common to stream that he actually catched on instantly what was going on and that she is from a "streamer's house" (instead of living with her family or alone or whatever) and is a pretty untouched territory for mental health. He overall reacted and guided her pretty well, he sure has experience

I'm so fucking disappointed. What the fuck. I started following OTV last August, and Fed really grew on me the most. It's so unreal to me that he would do this. He seemed like he was the "chill" guy, just being friends with everyone. I guess what I can take away from this is that I should never assume anything about people based on their online persona. Im proud of her for talking up, because I feel many girls that can relate to Yvonne are pretty likely to get sexually harrased in such a way and don't ever feel like talking up for it, because it wasn't that bad or something like that. It makes me kinda sad to see that she feels such a pressure to not call out the person probably because she doesn't want her interaction with that person influence the view of her friends to that person, which is horrible because I think no one wants to be a friend with someone that sexually harasses anyone and I feel like especially with people like Lily in her house they would completly want to shut that person off so Yvonne feels safe. I feel like Lily would be actually her go to, to talk about that because she is very mindful and supportive, so she wouldn't just call that person out, but would rather help Yvonne to go the way she wants to go, for distancing herself from that person.

I also don't know the exact meaning of it or the exact lines, but I feel like if you make a person uncomfortable by touching it should be taken as sexual harassment and it should be taken seriously, regardless of how innocent the spot might be.
I believe that regardless of the bounds of sexual harassment, it’s good to have some consent before touching someone. There are people that simply don’t want to be touched at all, and doing so without permission isn’t polite.
sad to see the comments on her tweet saying how it wasnt that bad, and how she ruined feds career. You can see the pain, and the way she just shuts down here when talking about the situation. Anyone thinking that she did what she did to hurt Fed is delusional. She obv cares for him as a person even after he took advantage of her and her body for his own pleasure. Fed was the one that was carrying OTV also, as Scarra stated in his response. So even more pressure on her, she prob felt like whats going to happen to the OTV team and its content. Almost like the boss sexually harrassing a worker, its not easy to go against someone with that power.
I almost agree except Scarra said even though fed has brought in a lot of traffic to otv, that each member is valuable to how they got to where they are today. But having friendships mixed with work relations does make it hard, you don't wanna break the balance

I hope she realizes that she has popularity based on her own merit. sure lots of people get introduced to her because of her friends but I genuinely enjoy her content. She seems like such a kind and strong person and I really hope she sees herself for who she really is one day soon. I also hope she finds healing. She didn't want to implicate OTV/Scarra and potentially bring the organization down by shedding a bad light on the organization. "I was abused at the OTV streaming house and my abuser lived in the same house for years" is a bad look; and if it was handled any other way that would have been the narrative. The sponsorships, her friends under the OTV, all could have been financially ruined if the story was spun against them. That was her worry, those were the people she wanted to protect.. not Fed. This document can also help therapists think about how an aversion to sharing info about a trauma can be driven by misguided compassion, and a desire to protect all those involved, more than a fear of reprisal or a fear of losing something. Absolutely incredible job by both of you. This should be in digital textbooks in the future.

For the people who are asking why Yvonne did not immediately stop fed (even though its in the video already): We really cannot predict how we will react if the same thing happens to us. Sure, we all think we can fight back cause they're doing something wrong. But that's just not the case when something really happens. It's not just women that freeze during the situation, everyone's different. The neurological response is different for everyone and you cannot blame the victims for freezing up. So, instead of putting blame on educating women better like some said, the real problem is how some people don't respect others' boundaries or don't know social cues. How about educating people about that. Better be safe than sorry, if one doesn't know what the boundaries are, ASK. Verbal consent is key. I'm sure Fed is not a bad person, if he had asked the girls before initiating something that made them feel uncomfortable, they would be able to tell him that will/will not be ok. Nothing like this now would've happened. Most importantly, he was not truly apologetic and cared more about how his career would've been impacted if people know. That's equally problematic. For people saying that they should've dealt with this in private, they did, and it did NOT work. For people saying they shouldn't have sabotaged his career, lets me tell you: He was the one that made those mistakes. And when it surfaces, its his karma, not anybody else's. Also, their intention for making this incident public is not to punish him but to prevent future incidents like this to occur and to educate the public. The one who does the punishing- "cancelling"- is the public. I have watched fed's stream for a long time, especially during the quarantine. I agree with you. If a total stranger did that, you'd immediately stop that person, sure. But if it's someone like Fed, who's her very first friend in the house, someone she trusted and someone she had a lot of fun with, suddenly tried doing that, then I don't think everyone will react the same way as you do to a total stranger.
(replying three years late but oh well) people forget that there are a lot of different outcomes to consider in these scenarios. even if the best option is to stop it as soon as possible, there are risks that come with even that option and there are outcomes you might be biased towards expecting. she trusted him, he was her friend, by all means it makes sense for her to expect him to stop because she wants to think well of him. stopping something before it can start keeps you safe, but stopping someone can be seen as a lack of trust or even offensive and that's also a scary situation in its own right. and saying something means admitting out loud that something is happening and even that can be very, very difficult when you could just be in denial. hope for the best. let them make the right decision themselves rather than deal with the situation where you don't know if they would have had you not intervened and they can keep pretending they would have. he knew it wasn't okay, he knew she was uncomfortable, he knew he should have stopped and didn't. 'freezing' is not consent. i think everyone over the age of ten knows that someone going still and quiet is a sign that something is wrong. and everyone who cares about consent knows to ask for reassurance if they think something is wrong with the other person or step back rather than take advantage of their fear response to continue pushing boundaries while they can still use the excuse of 'she didn't say no'. if you don't notice the other person freeze up in discomfort, you shouldn't be touching them in the first place since you're not paying attention to how they might feel about it. worse even than being a very common fear response, you could be triggering a trauma response and you should always stop and check in before continuing if someone is showing those signs even if it turns out to be nothing.
I'm almost certain Dr. K would make MUCH more progress with her if there was nobody else watching. Normally I'm very impressed how he makes people open up in front of such a large audience, but here's the inevitable brick wall. And I completely understand her because I have thought experiments in my mind sometimes, and I think "oh boy, I can't even tell my closest friends about this because it would really fuck shit up".
The attempts to avoid the problem in round 2 at 1:34:42 are amazing. And I learned a LOT from that. Several people opened up to me about their assault or even rape stories before, but I could never really understand them. After watching this I feel I have a better grasp of what might be going on the person's mind while it is happening to them. I am really grateful to Yvonne about opening up to so many people and hope there are no negative repercussions for her.

As a person who have had OCD, anxiety and depression for many years of my life and still have to some degree I feel happy that there are people like you who take their time to help people with mental health issues and also show how you do it. What really resonates with me when they talked about the break up was when she Yvonne said that she wanted independence by being outside of a relationship. Finding out who you are when you're by yourself is really hard when you're so used to being with someone else, it's so hard that even after you're single and "gained your freedom", you still don't feel "free". You don't feel like yourself still and at the back of your mind you're still carrying that guilt of hurting someone you love.

I feel like anyone who has been assaulted before, no matter how "minor" knows exactly what Yvonne is talking about. When you freeze up and can't respond - that's really a thing. Your brain is trying to process what is happening still - trying to overcome the shock - but by the time you come to your senses, it is too late to do anything anymore. I had a situation many years back where I was lost on a school trip. I got lost with a couple of my classmates. One of the guys put his hand on my upper arm. I instantly felt uncomfortable - It's so hard to explain the feeling, but it feels like every muscle in that area is trying to jump away from that touch. Your own skin feels like it's trying to crawl away. t's a disgusting, eerie feeling I can't really describe. It's like you can feel the muscles, your skin, everything try to jerk away from that sensation of being touched. Your mind just goes blank. I didn't know what to do. Then I brushed it off, "he's just trying to lead the way" I thought, so I let him leave his hand there. I felt disgusted and repulsed the whole time. But I was telling myelf, "it's just my arm. He's trying to be nice. You're overreacting. You're oversensitive." Then he touched my butt - very briefly. Then I really didn't know what to do. Once I came to my senses I quickly walked away from him and went to "protect myself" by walking closer to my other classmates. I heard from my other female classmates that he had done similar things to them, so we reported it to the teachers, but he was only suspended for a few days. I've long since left that school. I have a couple other incidents, but I decided to talk about that one because no matter where you are touched, I think your body kind of instinctually knows when something is very wrong. He was just touching my arm, but instinctually my body kind of knew that this was "dangerous" and I stupidly chose to ignore that feeling. And yes, it does feel like a real physical reaction. The feeling of your skin kind of repulsing away. It really feels like that. If you've been through it, you'll know what I am talking about. Dex I commonly party and get drunk with female friends. Multiple times to the point that I don’t have common sense. Not once have I ever made advances on them. Drunk or not. Different people react to alcohol differently but it’s not an excuse for sexual assault. Especially when there’s been things that happened while sober.
This guy is too smart to trick for real. He really pulled almost everything out, despite the situation looked really bad. He figured out that there was alot more than what Yvonne telled Dr. K. Like this guy is amazing to watch & I hope he can help more people with problems. We love you Dr. K !
My heart physically aches for you, Yvonne; I found myself tearing up many times during this and just wanting to reach out and give you the biggest hug. I had a similar experience to yours with a good friend who was only stopped from going the whole way by another friend of mine when I was drunk. The violation haunts you, but it does get easier with every day that passes and the pain slowly lessens. I hope you know you aren't alone, and that we all think you are so brave. I completely agree. I would also like to add, that for me, as a man who never experienced anything like that, this helped me a lot to understand the stories of friends who opened up about similar things to me.

This "friend" most likely has a reputation, I don't want to assume it was another streamer, but it would make sense why she is so hesitant to want to expose his name. I had a little hinch that she may be lieing about the fact that this "great" friend of hers lives with her and may be apart of OTV, but as a avid fan of their community that's the last thing i want to think about. Their just might be some conflict sturring in the Twitch/OTV community, but that's me assuming, let's see what happens.I wish the best for Yvonne.
I think she's concerned about causing drama and speculation because that can often be very damaging for the people around her. Reddit already took clips out of context with clickbait titles and mischaracterization of the story. This led to rampant rumors and speculation by drama feeders. The original poster eventually deleted the thread thankfully, but curiously no one in OTV streamed that evening, most likely to have an internal meeting and to not feed the drama. Many friends of OTV had viewers coming in and posting stuff and speculating but with the lack of the original thread most were able to brush past it rather than add to the speculation. Since there is a lot of other things going on, the original rumor reddit thread is gone, hopefully the drama doesn't gain much traction and dies off quick so they can all return to streaming.
@@SubjectTermina Seems unlikely. Way more likely to me is someone who is close with the members and is in a relationship with one of her girlfriends. The chain of events that would happen afterwards would be a nightmare. I don't blame her at all.
When I was SAd at 15 by my first boyfriend who I "loved" and knew I wanted to wait... I never told anyone. Years later I wish I would have known how powerful my voice was. I'm so proud of Yvonne for speaking up. If she doesn't like "courageous" Then shes braver than me. I have so much respect for her. We're very alike.

Can I just say, in hindsight after finding out about the OTV situation, it's quite insane how accurate Dr. K has been at reading Yvonne and her situation. Like he really hit the right spots without even knowing the situation as a whole.
I feel like this is something that twitch as a company needs to sink some of their funds into. As an entertainment platform with a certain amount and degree of influence in the industry, they need to start making sure that people working for their platform are meeting these mental needs.
She was nervous because she was literally protecting the world (or the worldview of many). Deep down inside, she knew her actions would change things forever. Her (and Dr. K) have inspired and taught so many with this experience they shared with us.

Around 1:22:00 Alok says he has no idea what to think about what she's protecting. I've had a realization at that moment that ties several themes up into an explanation. I'm not saying I have the final answer, I have no expertise, I just want to share what I came up with. I stand by her decisions and support her, I'm trying to be as considerate as possible when formulating this, but English is not my native language. There are two key things to pickup from the beginning of this conversation: Ivonne cares a lot about others and is insecure about herself to certain degree. Speaking out about this will certainly hurt the other party, if named directly. But when talking about whole world burning down, I think she considers if she might get hurt by it too. I. She would feel responsible for their suffering. She also supports that by saying few times that they were drunk, arguing herself an excuse for their behavior. Second guy confessed he knew what he was doing so that excuse cracked and she was able to tell friends about it. II. She herself would be hurt by backlash. She talks about the assaults I'm steps of increasing intensity, and then she froze. I think she feels that people would tell her that she should have just said no. As she tells the story, there were things leading up to the froze moment that she could've questioned and speak up. I think it is possible she feels partially responsible (and ashamed) for how she had it going up to the froze moment. I'm not blaming her for this behavior, then this is happening she couldn't know what was going to happen, but this is where the lower self-esteem would start kicking her down. III. Considering both parties are content creators, fans on the opposite sides would definitely be messaging and thrashing both Ivonne and said individuals, that does almost without saying. The "you're making this up, just say no" messages for Ivonne and "you fucking psycho" backlash for the guy. EDIT: I'm so happy it all was tackled in the rest of the talk.
She's not protecting the "friend" that was drunk. As she said, everyone else see him differently to how she does. She was the one who recieved the creepy side of his personality and drive. She is protecting the mutual friends that would be sucked in to the consequences if she spoke out and named him. And likely will destroy her and her teams hard work over the last few years to build this massive brand. Unfortunately she has to weigh those options up. She clearly wants to name the bastard, but cant because its not just her that it falls on. The guy who did it to her means nothing to her anymore, and is just a looming bad memory that is sadly now stuck with her. You are right about the chat spam that would happen though, and its sad to think and acknowledge that it will happen. But the reality is, that chat and social media would escalate it to a point of no return. And that sucks :( its catch-22 for her in this regard. I really hope she can get past it. Having been through a process like this myself, having to decide whether to talk or lose my friends, i can say it is a terrible feeling :(

I grew to like yvone the more i see her on offline tv related content, at first i wasn't sure if that was her natural personality or mixed in with meming/content. She is just a naturally caring , loving person, she funny , seems forgiving and selfless. When i think of her, i usually see her as the mother of offline tv. I commend her for coming on here and telling us her story. Many were bashing her and making hurtful speculations about her personal live as if they were in her shoes which is why i do not blame people picking and choosing what and how they disclose to the public. The freezing thing is real, i've been through it many occasions and it is easy for people to judge and dictate on what "could've, should've, would've " been done. I relate to yvonne on many levels that its scary but at the same time kind of refreshing to know i'm not alone when thinking the way i do , handling situations or being the support to others. I tend to think of others than support my own needs. Doing that is not healthy but naturally there is a want to do those things by default because it brings you and other joy. Of course there are times you do it because you care about others even if iit means going out of your own way which can become draining. Like yvonne, sometimes is hard for me to accept or see the good others see in me or what ive done and i do need to give myself more credit . We tend to feel like we are the only ones going through a particular situation and blame ourselves thinking it only happens to us. We live in a society were if 500 people say "X" is right, then its right and if you go against that grain , your wrong. Our world is not just black and white and the more i watch these interviews, i find myself learning being relatable than i normally would. I learn more about society and even about myself and how i've been thinking most of my life and now. Thanks to Dr.K , we are able to learn and relate through others experience during theses session. I'm sure there are people who may disagree with Dr.K's his style or way of thinking on occasions, but his objectives not to treat or diagnoses anyone here but help them unpack their feelings, not only for him to understand and make connections but for the guest to unwind and understand themselves to explore the roots of an issue at hand.
First time watching Dr. K and I appreciated how well he handled the conversation of sexual assault as a man. And all throughout the session, he doesn't assume anything and always checks in if Yvonne's ok or on board ;w; listening to this overall helped me identify why i, myself, freeze up in situations that makes me uncomfortable.
