Tamarac City Commissioner Mike Gelin went off on BSO Deputy Joshua Gallardo during Wednesday morning's commission meeting honoring law enforcement officers.
We don't know the whole story, we were not there! Yes, there are always a bad apple, but we have to stop with the disrespect to our police and officers! If they stop you *JUST OBEY* !! and you won't have this problems!!! That's something called *COMMON SENSE* 😒😒😒😒

Interesting the only part the commissioner takes issue with - 'lied' - regarding the deputy's sworn affidavit is approaching the deputy from behind. Also: the prosecutor's office not pursuing charges is *radically* different from a "false arrest".
This is what happens when you elect criminals to public office. You supoort what? You coward. If this guy has a problem with police officers conduct. Bring it up legally. That is what I call epic. He waited for him to get his award, and even allowed him to return to his seat, along with all the other deputies. So not to tarnish the others who received an award. Then he pulled the skeleton out of the closet. I think it was beautiful. I think the mayor should resign for even considering doing anything to the commissioner. I tell you what is unethical is a cop abusing his power. He was arrested for not leaving the area. Which is a underhanded practice by police so they can't be recorded and exposed for abuse of power. I think I mayor should be thanking him for waiting until everyone received their award and returned to their seats. Civility my ass, and now this cop knows when you do something and lie about it that it can come back to haunt you.
Soooo everybody is mad that he called out a crooked cop? When is the best time to call out corruption? Kneeling is wrong, peacefully protesting is wrong. How would you suggest you confront bad people? When and where is it appropriate? Let's ask Snowden, or the newest whistleblower against Trump.

The best place is at an internal review hearing, where the cops will investigate themselves and find that their conduct has been above reproach, of course.
Just viewed another video where they where praising and making a big deal about the commissioner 'going off' and used those and similar terms. So I guess it's subjective, maybe even cultural. Idk
This man was falsely arrested, and lied about it on record. How would you feel?! What was inappropriate is the police officers actions. What is inappropriate is that he received an award for his continued abuse of power. Mike Gelin has my vote. Thank you for calling out that cop. I'm more upset at the false arrest, how come nobody is upset for wrong imprisonment? Being verbally criticized is better than being jailed for no reason. That mayor should lose votes!
Cesar Pineda let me clear something out for you. When the state attorney drops a case it does not mean that it was a false arrest, it means that due to the severity of the case a jury is most likely to dismiss the case. Some times the state attorney takes the decision that they deem necessary as to whether it would be good to drop the case and save the time of all the parties involved since it might not result in a conviction. no. when you are an ordinary citizen dealing with cops who will blatantly lie to arrest you you have no real power. Why did he wait? Because what was he supposed to do? Put in a complaint? He probably did that? 4 years just happens to be how life works: time keeps ticking. In that time Gelin got on with his life. He didn't sit around waiting, he took action by becoming a Counselman probably to help deal with corrupt cops among other things that motivated him. When he learned that this officer was going to be awarded, he probably made a decision AT THAT TIME to call him out. Here's my question, why are you motivated to defend corruption in law enforcement?

If Gelin had a claim he should've brought it up years ago. We have statutes of limitations so people bring claims and matters can be litigated before evidence spoils.

just because a prosecutor declines to prosecute a case, doesn't mean the police report was false. Stealing a candy bar is a theft, doesn't mean a jury will convict or that justice will be served.

The counsellor was never convicted when he was arrested, didn't bother filing a complaint, or filing a civil suit all options he had available to him. Instead he embarrassed himself showing how pety he is. No big deal, the officer was only being awarded for arresting a murder suspect.

I'm a conservative so go ahead and bash me but same time I will say this he was not in the wrong the officer was in the wrong he had every right to call out his faults in the past. in today's society police are not held accountable for their actions because they use the law to their advantage that is what's wrong with part of the justice system today and it needs to be fixed... now do I find the gentleman needed to call him out like that? No he needed to go ahead and start a private investigation by another justice system or the actual City to look into each and every report he has done to see if there is a recurring situation with the officer... But then again when he called him out like he did it is his freedom of speech and I don't think he should be punished for that. So the Mayor (who looks to have missed her hair appt. that day), wants to see if she can charge him with violating the city's "Code of Conduct"? Mr. Gelin didn't yell or interrupt anyone when he made his statement/s (his voice was calm and not raised in any way). Why would the City's "code of conduct" be used against an elected official because she and others didn't like what Mr. Gelin said? I've seen several Broward County Commission meetings where many people actually have raised their voices and cut each other off. Wonder why the city's "code of conduct" was never used against any of them, but for this it needs to considered?
I completely support this commissioner. I'm glad somebody speaks up. Something like a false report can ruin somebody's whole life. Resisting arrest is one of the most bulshit charges of all time. Cops can arrest you for no reason. Then claim you were resisting arrest just so they have something to hold you on. How the hell can you be resisting arrest when you were never arrested in the first place?
