Thought I'd say a few words about this car before doing the speed test but if you aren't interested in that then skip to 4:14 where the speed test starts. It's pretty quick with this set-up but the problem is what happens when it crashes at speed as there are some weaknesses. If you want more of an action video of the Aqroshot then there is one on my channel and I have put a link at the end. Thanks to Ric for doing the speed test videoing. Many thanks for watching :-) Music - Modern Rock Boy by Audionautix is licensed under a Creative Commons Attribution licence (creativecommon...)

You are right about those weaknesses. I have a 13,5 T in mine and i have universals at the back with some pro line tyres and i have bent those universals so easily several times. So now i only use it on flat surfaces.
@PeteWylieRC
@PeteWylieRC 5 лет назад
Yeah it's a bit of a shame because it's a good all rounder otherwise. Yes flat surfaces and very low jumps for this one. Many thanks for your comments 😀

Lovely stuff Pete my mate! This is exactly what I was looking forward to, a Pete Wylie talkie video! Great to hear you - I know what you mean about it being strange when you watch it back - but you will get used to it eventually, well I did anyway. Great mix of information and action, I think you are spot on - and a super smattering of innuendo makes it perfect for my taste - love the tiddly wibbly reference! And honoured for the Mark Bryan reference of course. Wow - 39 mph is really motoring for a Tamiya of any description, and I was really impressed how Ric followed it past at top speed completely in frame - top cameraman! All in all a big treat on Thursday evening - keep 'em coming Pete! : )

Cheers mate. This one has been hanging about on the hard drive since last summer. The last bit with the Firestorm is new though and is in the new hobby room whereas the rest was when I was using the dining room table. I've kind of got used to hearing myself waffling on so I'm doing more of these. Been videoing the mods I'm doing to the Lunchbox so that will be a series eventually. Yes 39mph is really good for a Tamiya. We actually did the test a load more times to try and get 40mph but never made it. Ric did do well to keep it in shot. His method is to hold the GoPro at arms length and not to actually look at the screen but just point it in the direction of the car. Anyway glad you enjoyed this one and the wibbly wobbly mention. Thanks for watching mate 😀

Hi Pete. Well for starters there is no way on earth I would have run my Aqroshot through that horse manure lol. But it does put my speed run comparison to shame. I only got 25mph out of mine with a supposed 43000KV motor (think it may be a fake GoolRC one). As I mentioned in your other video those stock tyres are great on the tarmac, no grip at all, just backing off the throttle makes it spin almost 360 degrees lol. I have some Ground Assault to fit to mine for off road but still want to run it some more with the stock for a laugh. Great video and great camera work by Rico.
@PeteWylieRC
@PeteWylieRC 5 лет назад
Hi Rob. Oh a bit of horse poo never hurt anyone. Dog poo on the other hand is the RC car drivers worst nightmare! 25 does sound low for that size brushless in this. Ric got 32 with a Gool set, 2s and Blitzer tyres. Yes Ground Assault tyres are really good and are the standard ones on the Firestorm. Anyway if I break this many more times then it might be relegated to a silver can motor and driving around the garden 😂. Thanks for watching and your comments mate 😀

Excellent test and review, Pete! Yeah, not the strongest but definitely not the most expensive Tamiya kit either (the cheapest actually together with the Rising Fighter?). Uhh, now I got it, about the wheels. Wow, the axles. Never had anything like that happen with my DT-02/03s. But broken the c-hubs a million times I think. And the bulk head/front tower of the DT-02, which is a lot stronger now on the DT-03. But yeah, must've been due to the offset of the blitzer wheels. But strangely I've never had that happen to the Tamiyas with the same offset, particular the 2WD Trucks like the Monster Beetle, the WT-01, Blitzer Beetle etc. So, maybe a combination of the DT-02/03 axles and the blitzer wheels and then some Pete Wylie bashing :-) But excellent review. Mph makes no sense to me so I'll have to convert that, but it sounds fast :-) Love it in black. My Vajra (it's not a silly name, just sanskrit, it can translate to English words like diamond or thunderbolt etc.) is black too, my Super Levant blue/red - but really, love that body in all colors, although I know it's not the most popular buggy among Tamiya enthusiasts. Got a silly plan of converting one of my DT-03's to an Aqroshot one day. Got the wheels, tires and the body. Think I just need the body mounts? Ohh, well. And your orange E-firestorm body is much better looking than mine too (got that red old one). Loved the vid, Pete. Hoping for more videos with you talking. Good choice with the non-Mark Bryan :-) And loved the take 1 of the speed run :-)

@PeteWylieRC
@PeteWylieRC 5 лет назад
Hi Mikael. Yes when I do the comparison video I was going to point out that this is cheaper than the Firestorm and also the fact that if you already have the electrics you can just buy the kit. The Firestorm isn't available as a rolling chassis or kit which is a shame. I am a big fan of it though. Very nice handling and tough. I'm surprised that you haven't broken any back wheels off your big wheeled Tamiyas. On my Blitzer Beetle I broke a load of back axles and yeah, that C hub. Also the gearbox where the suspension attaches. I need to just run these a bit carefully. I've been having fun with the DT-02 Titan. Fun handling and not many issues. Oh yeah we live in the olden days with mph. There is a conversion on screen briefly which is 62.7kph. Anyway there are more talky vids coming from me. I'm just building the Lunchbox and I've been videoing the mods that I'm doing. Will do a little review of that when it's done. Hope your unpacking is going well. Thanks for your support mate 😀

Hi Pete, thanks for the info about the why the wheels look buckled when they turn. Most of my Lunchbox's turn like that. Probably too many rollovers in their 30+ years. Keep up the mega vids my friend...
@PeteWylieRC
@PeteWylieRC 5 лет назад
On my Lunchbox it did sometimes have wheels that did that but it wasn't the spindle of the axle that was bent. It was the plastic B5 hub parts that didn't sit quite right on the little pin bit that goes through the drive shaft. If you take the wheels of and then run the motor you should be able to see which bit isn't right. Anyway, thanks for watching and your comments :-)

@@PeteWylieRC AHH yes Sir, I see what you mean. I've changed the rear shafts on 4 of my Lunchbox's and they still wobbled, not as bad as the Aqroshot's osr wheel but enough for me to drive them like Ms Daisy now. I've got one particular CW01 chassis with an Escort MK1 lexan body on top, my favourite out of all of them, that takes a serious knocking in all weathers. Maybe I shall think about converting to the aluminium hex conversion that is available with other Tamiya kits. The Willy 2 uses hex wheels as does my Met Blue Neo Scorcher but I think the Lunchbox would have a ground clearance problem if I used the Scorcher wheels hahaha. Thank You for your help Young man, have a good evening.

LoL, this was a fun packed, innuendo filled video which had me chucking away while tucking into my Spotted Dick and custard hahaha. I had to stop eating at the horse poo bit though! I was going to use my Firestorm wheels on my Aqroshot for off road, but after your experiences I think I will stick to the stock wheels and tyres and use it on road, and just use my Neo & Racing Fighter off road. Yes, I love this chassis so much I have all three ! Your Aqroshot is extremely stable at speed with a brushless system. I was very impressed. Great video Pete : ))
@PeteWylieRC
@PeteWylieRC 5 лет назад
Haha, well you can't say Vajra and not make some sort of comment. I was trying not to titter about the Thrust motor too! It's a shame about that rear axle. I did also break that and a load of other bits on my Blitzer Beetle when I had that. For my money the TT-02 with Holiday Buggy tyres is more fun and more durable. I think light use for the Aqroshot from now on. You'll be ok with the Firestorm wheels on it unless you crash too much. Many thanks for your comments mate 😀

I raced the dt03 for a few weeks as a beginner and after breaking the gearbox 3 times I gave up. They just break for a past time.
@PeteWylieRC
@PeteWylieRC 3 года назад
Oh right I must say that even with this brushless set I still haven't broken the gears on this or my DT-02's which have the same gearbox. Maybe it's down to how well the tyres are gripping the surface that they are running on. I'm mainly running them on dirt and grass so plenty of slip. Thanks for your feedback 😁
@wizardwithguns1
@wizardwithguns1 3 года назад
@@PeteWylieRC Don't get me wrong, I love the dt03, and it may have been my poor driving. It was always where the camber links met the gearbox. Best upgrade for these is some weight up front (about 70-90 grams) and a good servo saver. Also a ball diff with so uj's. Max motor is about a 13.5 brushless.
@PeteWylieRC
@PeteWylieRC 3 года назад
@@wizardwithguns1 Ah so you broke the outside of the gearbox. Don't think I've done that on one of these but I did do something similar on my Blitzer Beetle. I did upgrade to the Tamiya Hi Torque servo saver. Also a few other bits. Somewhere on my channel is a video of this with orange wheels getting bashed fairly hard and not breaking. I might have just been lucky :-)

Hi. Do you mean the kit road tyres? I've never actually run it with those on the back so not sure. The Blitzer tyres are great on the grass but would wear out way too quickly on a hard surface.
