Tamiya BMW 318i STW Summer Photo Shoot 

Cheers Fil!! Had to showcase this awesome vintage Tamiya! Hopefully will be able to restore this beauty to show room condition once I've sourced a new body, decals and chassis tub! (easier said than done!) Really hoping Tamiya will re re it's TAO2 series of touring cars so I can have run to run hard! Cheers for watching my most excellent Canadian dude! 😂 👍 👍 👍

Cheers Dirk. 🙏 Unfortunately the previous owner decided not to go box art, and painted it the wrong colour and applied the decals in the wrong place! I've done a light restoration on it since buying it, but am looking for a new old stock body kit, decals, and chassis tub so I can do a full restoration and bring it back to box art! Yeah fella, I think people like to see a bit of running footage in the photo shoot videos, albeit a very light run! Cheers for stopping by matey. 😊 👍 👍 👍

Cheers Mark! Yes mate, I know that you, and also Dom are big fans of this chassis.... and I can now see why mate! Ball diffs, oil dampers, nice steering, and handles extremely well! It's an absolute joy to drive. This one is nearly perfect, I need to source a new chassis tub as it has a little road rash underneath. I'm also desperately seeking a new body and decals...... I don't know why the last owner went with Red, the box art white looks so much better! Eventually it will be restored to show room condition! Cheers Craig. I knew that you would bring up the Kerbs!!! 😂 I don't hit them every time you know! As this car is pretty rare I was driving very slowly/carefully, just thought it would be nice to put a little running footage into the video to. As for the decals, they weren't great. Lots were lifting, and when I done the light restoration I had to use a lighter on them to stick them back down. It bugs me that it's the wrong colour, and the decals aren't in the right place..... If/when I can source a new body kit with decals and a new chassis tub I can then do a full restoration and make it perfect! 👍 👍 👍

Cheers Sean! Yes mate, it's my first TAO2 platform.... and let's just say that I'm really impressed with this chassis, especially bearing in mind it's age. Everything works exactly as it should, and it handles like a dream! It will be interesting to see what times it pulls off around the figure of eight time trials circuit! I do have a bit of a reputation for kurbing it don't I mate! 😂 I'm actually looking for a new old stock body kit for this, as well as a new chassis tub so I can bring it back to mint condition mate. This one that it came with already has a few dings, and isn't correct box art. The rest of the car is immaculate, so should be an easy restoration...... The hard part will be finding a new Tamiya body kit and decals for it. In the mean time I shall enjoy driving it! 👍 👍 👍

Cheers buddy! Yep, as a keen BMW owner/driver, especially the E36, I had to get this one in the collection. Tamiya got the detail just right on this body, and the TAO2 chassis is a superb performer.... out performing their more modern touring car platforms by a long shot! Cheers for watching mate. 😊 👍 👍 👍

@@RallyandTrail Funnily enough I actually put an offer in for that new in box one. It was originally listed at £600!!! But then this one came up. This was ready built, but had obviously not been run much, and was a lot cheaper. I'm now looking for a new old stock body kit, decals and chassis tub so I can do a full restoration and make it proper box art in the white. Would definitely LOVE to see it re released for sure! First comment!! 😂 Cheers Paul, I love the old school beemas! I've had 5 full scale ones over the years, including an M3, and currently have a couple as my daily drivers. These Tamiya ones are getting very rare now, took me 4 years to find this one! Now I'm looking for a body kit and a new chassis tub so I can eventually do a full restoration. Tamiya put out some really nice detailed touring cars in the mid nineties, and the TAO2 chassis performs surprisingly well as a platform for them. Thanks for watching mate. 🙏 👍 👍 👍

Oh for sure dude! I would love to see this chassis re released. It's sooooo much better than the more modern TTO2. It would be nice to see both new bodies, and some of the classic nineties stuff. Fingers crossed eh mate! 🤞 👍 👍 👍

Oh yeah man, they don't call them the ultimate driving machine for nothing..... well at least that can be said up to around 1999,i wouldn't go near anything past that point. I've owned many 3 series over the years, the best being the M3..... but that car nearly bankrupt me! 😂 I also share your passion for the much older ones fella. Such a shame how fugly the modern ones are. 😞 So it's great to finally get the Tamiya version, the body detail is spot on. Also, the TAO2 chassis is delightful - Ball diffs, oil dampers and some seriously nice steering..... It drives sooo much better than the more modern TTO2 platform! The only problem with these fine detailed body shells is when you crash! The front end is extremely vulnerable..... and the cringe factor upon impact hurts! Got the Fazer up and running again anyway..... now the bloody ESC has packed up!! 🤷‍♂️ I've lost all power, I think it's just the switch that has gone..... going to graft a new switch on it over the weekend all being well. 👍 👍 👍

To the moon!!! 😂 Now threes no way I'm going to be able to pull off anything as impressive as your lunchbox jumps last week lads..... so I didn't even bother! 😂 The body on this one is Tamiya 'not so tough'!!
