I don't know why YT never notifies me bout your vids! Lunch box looks sick! Its just one of those cars that is a bit outdated, but still looks amazing! I might get a Tamiya one day. They look really fun

Yeah at the time when I was 16 when this car was new if you wanted an RC monster truck you got a Tamiya Clodbuster or the Lunch Box. Because the Clod was more money, a lot of kids got the Lunch Box. By todays standards it's more of a nostalgia piece. I find building a Tamiya kit fun in itself but running one of these compared to say the Arrma Granite for a young person would be a bit of a let down. But at the time back in the 80's this is all we had so we enjoyed it. I just built this truck and painted it and it's so cool to have one in my hand after looking at it in the Tamiya catalogues for the last 30 years. I never had one of these because I could only have 1 car every 3-4 years so I always went for a buggy instead because I wanted performance. But now that I can have more than one I figured it was time to get one for the collection.

Happy building. Looks like fun. I'm still waiting of the Ford gt release. Maybe once I get it done I'll pick up a few retro kits.

Nice! Yeah hopefully some of that Tamiya stock makes it off the containers and into the hobby stores soon. Things are pretty dry with Tamiya stock lately.

Me too but since I could only have one kit every like 3 years I went for buggies because I wanted handling. I just built this up and it was a nice easy enjoyable build. Still need to paint the body. I think I will be upgrading the shocks to oil and do the gearbox shock mod. I also have a kit to make the front end not have that weird camber but I want to try it stock first because that camber is part of it's personality.

Hahaha...Id sell it on ebay if I had an original. I want to run it. So I like the rerelease. So its built now just waiting to paint it and I will do a running vid. I put a quicker motor in of course...lol. The shocks suck...need oil ones.

@@ksrnate Ahhhh no idea. The motor is just a brushed slightly hotter Reedy Raedon. Wont be all that fast. And I'm running a nimh 7.2 volt. May try a 3s for fun...hahaha. I also have a clodbuster to build and a Monster Beetle. I haven't been speedrunning at all this year. I can't seem to get away from work. Soon I figure I will. I have a 4070Tp power mounted in my Slash 4x4 to see if I can do better than 132mph. With this motor I will be able to get up more so hopefully I can hit 150. And the Felony will be back out maybe with a GT body. And I have the Arrma Typhon GT to run. Too much stuff on the go and no time...hahaha. The Tamiya's are just some mild stuff I can play with around the house. And I have my quad copters. 🤦‍♂️

Whoa! Nice! 127 on 2wd is sick! Yeah it's warm enough but I just havent had time at all. Hopefully soon I can get out there. I have a TP 4070 2200kv in the Slash now so I'm hoping for a PB.

I had one of the original release midnight pumpkins.. had alot of fun with truck when I was a kid.. was pretty cool when they re-released them..👍 Are you going for the standard hieght or the lower? We always lowered them, stayed more planted..👍

Cool. I had a new in box original release Pumpkin I bought from a hobby store in early 90's and sold it a few years ago. As for the lowering I never knew guys did that? I do have a FX10 front wishbone setup Im going to try and put oil shocks on. Im all over the place with this hobby though. Now Im learning FPV race drones so my car time has suffered. The FPV race drones are WAY harder to fly than the DJI type gps drones. And flying with the goggles on is very disorienting. Hopefully I will get it.

@@KaizerTest oh man.. Awsome..had a bunch of those fx10's.. blowing half shafts out all the time..🤣 So ya, you will notice in the tub there are holes for the a-arm pivot points, if you don't install the blocks and run the arms up in that position it lowers it significantly.. it's been a very long time, but I think the rear slides for the rear axle had to be swapped for the hornet/ grass hopper guides.. I think, it's been 25+ yrs.. 🤣🤣🤣

@@camaroboy383 I had a gas helicopter in the mid 1990's it was called a Lite Machine. It had a wooden chassis that you had to paint and it had an engine from Checkoslovakia? or something like that...lol. I had to build it from a kit. I put wooden dowels on the landing gear and ping pong balls at the ends in an X pattern so it had a more stable base to learn on. I did pretty well learning and could fly nose in but the motor wore out and I moved on to other hobbies like motocross. I had a plane back then too. I'm loving these quads tough. So small with a fpv camera once I get good I'm going to fly around my street and bug my neighbors...hahaha. 😂
