It's finally stopped raining! 😊
Come and join Albert Atterboy and myself testing out my freshly serviced Tamiya Monster Beetle in the park!
We kick up the gravel, whip up the grass, race the big cars, and even attempt a bit of slide crawling...... is that even a thing? 🤔
Well, it is now!
The trusty ORV performed superbly as usual, only breaking a body post and the wibbly wobbly aeriel tube!
Enjoy! ✌️ 👍

Nice run! Spectacular crash to lose that body shell pal…. Didn’t expect anything less from your driving 😁

But I didn't hit 1 Kurb mate!! The crash was awesome, rolled over for at least 4 meters up the road..... Just a shame I didn't catch it all on camera as it would have made a great slow mo! Good job I fitted that roll cage eh?! Looking forward to watching your latest bits after work bud. Have a great weekend dude! 👍 👍 👍

Hey Dirk! Yes mate, after 6 months of rain it's nice to finally see some dust again! The ORV big wheelers are always a fun drive, whatever the terrain. Glad you liked the different camera perspective mate...... Its a bit wobbly!! I never intended to make a video, I was just messaging about with my phone for some personal footage. It's only got a 13 mega pixel camera! But decided to put it out anyway, as it caught the whole vibe quite well! Thanks for watching matey. 😊 👍 👍 👍

OUCH!!! Thanks for kicking gravel in my face James!! 😅😅 That sure is a fast MB and the diff was squealing like a pig!!! You lose the body and keep on going, now that's hardcore RCing! The slide climb made me laugh, never underestimate a Monster Beetle! Cheers! 😎🙌🏼👍

Hi Mark, how ya doing mate? This was just a little bash to test her out after doing all that work on her over the winter. And yeah, she's pritty nippy..... the new rotor bearings and brushes in the BZ have made a surprising amount of difference! Squealing like a pig for sure 😂..... I've got the ball diff running slightly loose to stop it wheelie-ing, It thinks it's a lunchbox! Wheelies ain't good with no wheelie bar as I'm sure you will know! I find this car to be such a fun drive on pretty much any terrain, and all the upgrades have made it very reliable to. I'm gutted I didn't get the full roll on camera..... It rolled over for at least 3 meters, an awesome crash! As for the hill climb, it was all a bit tongue in cheek really..... I never expected it to make it to the top! The footage wasn't great quality as it was filmed on my 13 mega pixel low end phone..... but I think it captured the vibe non the less! Cheers for stopping by mate. 😊 👍 👍 👍

Hi Sean! The weather is still cold and cloudy.... but after 6 months of rain every day it has finally dried out a bit, and things are starting to Green up! Far from the cinematic video quality of your run videos I'm afraid, but hopefully it displayed an element of fun! It's remarkable how well this vintage car runs with a few essential upgrades, it never fails to put a smile on your face whatever the terrain! 😊 Cheers for stopping by matey, hope you have a great weekend. 👍 👍 👍

Monster Beetle and Super Stock BZ Motor were meant to be together! It's the PERFECT motor for this truck, isn't it? Looks like you put her through the paces pal. And how great is it to see those shiny metal slides? Hahaha. I haven't seen one of those in years! Reminds me of burning the back of my legs in the 80's! :)

Hey Fil, cheers for watching mate. 😊 Oh yes indeed, it's a match made in heaven for sure! Just the right amount of power to really bring it to life, but at the same time keeping the rig controllable. Superstocks are my weapon of choice in most of my runners..... with a handful of technigolds and sports tuned thrown in for the vehicles that struggle with the superstocks (CWO1, hoppers etc) Generally I use the RZ and TZ in my buggies and on road cars, and the BZ in the trucks. As for the slide climb..... I didn't think for one minute it would actually make it to the top! And yep, I remember the slide burns as a kid very vividly...... do you not have these over in Canada any more then bud? 🤔 👍 👍 👍

Yes mate, in fact I love all the eighties monster trucks by Tamiya..... It's what I grew up with! I actually prefer the look of the blackfoot, but that one stays on the shelf with the fully restored mud blaster and original eighties beetle. This Re re is simply to drive hard and have fun with! Cheers for stopping by mate. 😊 👍 👍 👍

Boy was that thing ripping around out there!! It was really flying down the road like that car owed him money or something! LOL! I heard to crunch of the body in that roll over and I did cringe a bit... I know it is your fun runner but that was a heck of a smack it took! Glad you got some good weather and had time to take it out for a fun rip!

Cheers my friend!! Yeah, it was able to keep up with the cars down the main road mate! Your hearing is excellent Addam, the noise was the rear body post snapping...... Easy fix, I own 3 monster beetles and have a huge amount of spares for the ORV chassis, it's repaired already. A lot of people hate on these trucks, but with some good upgrades they really do perform well for what they are..... and just like the lunchbox, every time you take them out it's a total blast! The service I done on the BZ motor has helped heaps, especially the new brushes and proper bearings on the rotor..... it's really quite nippy, both on, and off road. I'm absolutely amazed it made it up the slide to! Cheers for watching as always matey, wishing you a great weekend! 👍 👍 👍

Hey great footage of your speedy Monster Beetle. Oh those crappy body posts are a bit hopeless in a crash but the rest of it did well. Top work on getting up that slide. You would bet good money that it would never make it. Good stuff mate :-)

Cheers matey! Yeah, it was a fun little bash. I was on my own that evening so didn't have anyone to film it, so I just had to do the best I could. The on board footage is very wobbly, but i kinda liked the raw and rugged effect it gave, just like being in the beetle bouncing about all over the place! 😂 She's fixed already, it was only a broken body post..... I have three monster beetles and a HUGE box of spare parts for them! I was most surprised that it made it to the top of the slide though!! @@scaleworksRC I could not possibly imagine the skill, concentration, and upgrades required to drive a TTO2 at 100mph!!! We got ours up to 51mph on last year's poor boys rc speed challenge, and I'm still traumatised from it to this day! 😂 But, I'm amazed how well it took hitting a Kurb at that speed on the final run, going 20ft in the air!!! (the speed runs are in our back catalogue) I started watching yours yesterday before work, but need to give it a full watch over the weekend..... It's looking rather grand mate, and I'm pretty sure that you will hit that target. Just try not to hit anything else in the process, as it gets real messy real quick! 😂 👍 👍 👍
@scaleworksRC
@scaleworksRC 4 месяца назад
@@yodadarksideGreenHawksRC LOL well said, my friend! She went airborne at 75mph last run, but I'm pretty sure it was because of the wing making too much downforce. It's definitely a hand full, but drives nice once you punch through that wobble zone around 40-45mph. I picked the Ford GT body because it was designed to make it's own downforce, but the rear needs help on the Mk 2. Found that one out the hard way, too 😁 Tried running a splitter made from spare lexan and it was scraping the ground above 60mph!
@yodadarksideGreenHawksRC
@yodadarksideGreenHawksRC 4 месяца назад
@@scaleworksRC You've got it spot on with the 'wobble zone'.... 40ish mph and it either takes off, or veers off mindlessly out of control! 😂 Sounds like you know what you are doing anyway fella..... and I wish you the best of luck, and look forward to viewing your progress. Peter Smith has just launched a DTO2 speed challenge today, which we will be entering..... It's guna get messy! 😂 Also, Fil at poor boys will be hosting another later in the year..... he hasn't announced what platform it will be on yet though. You should definitely join in the antics, it was a real blast last year, and offers some great exposure to your channel, with lots of new friends made along the way! 👍 👍 👍

Bet that rattle some screws loose in the Beetle, camera and yourself. We had a run in with a Park Keeper at one point, and this has kept us away from such places, I don't think it helped our cause when I kept Calling him Saville during the exchange 😅🤣😂

I've had a screw loose for many years now mate!!! 😂 The beetle and camera were fine though...... The footage quality was about as good as I'm going to get with a 13 mega pixel cheap mobile phone gaffa taped to the front of the car! 😂 Just a bit of fun really, and had to make the most of one dry evening before the next lot of rain comes in! (but you guys know all about that one right?! ☔) You deserve a Jim' l fix it badge for getting a 'Saville' dig in at that over enthusiastic Park keeper! 😂 Let me guess, one of those wannabe coppers who take their job way too seriously? 🤔 I'm quite lucky with our park, I've lived here nearly 50 years, and everyone knows me..... Infact, it's the same park we used to rc in as kids back in the eighties! I might actually grow up one day! 😂 Cheers for checking in lads! 🙏 👍 👍 👍

You got MIP diff in that + what motor as looks fast mate?
@greenhawksrc6806
@greenhawksrc6806 4 месяца назад
Hey fella! Yeah, the MIP ball diff is essential if you want to run any of the big wheeled ORV family. The stock diff was awful in the eighties, and still is now..... Why Tamiya never addressed the issue when they re released it I really don't know. The MIP diff is bombproof...... meaning you can now put some decent power through it, which it needs as its a very heavy rig! I generally run Tamiya superstock motors in most of my vintage runners. This one was the superstock BZ running on a 70c 2s lipo. It's a great match, plenty of torque, and a fairly decent top end..... It really brings these cars to life! Cheers for watching buddy. 😊 👍 👍 👍

@@greenhawksrc6806 I agree I had a original back in the late 80s when it was released I trashed my gearbox gears kept slipping and back driveshafts kept popping out & that was on a stock silver can motor, was going to buy the re release when it came out but was told it still had gearbox trouble so purchased a kit & MIP ball diff early this year! not built it yet thou.Also bought blitzer beetle kit to build also as bodies are interchangeable
@yodadarksideGreenHawksRC
@yodadarksideGreenHawksRC 4 месяца назад
@@SRG-HITMAN-11 Ah mate, sounds like you can totally relate!! Yep, awful design.... the diff plates warp allowing the bevel gears to jump about allover the place, shredding teeth on pretty much the whole gearbox!! Then, on the original you had those dreaded hex drives that used to wear out and jump out through the rubber gators! The new U. J's on the re re ain't much better, they still jump out when the trailing arms fully extend! I've fixed this by limiting the travel of the rear trailing arms.... Problem solved! If running regularly the MIP ball diff is essential..... I went through 3 diffs in six months until I went over to the MIP, expensive, but worth it! Worth upgrading the shocks to better dampers to, stock ones are way too soft! High torque servo saver helps get rid of some of that steering slop, and reduces torque steer. This ones been fine tuned for running, these things can be refined to run well! I also have a fully restored 'mint' mud blaster, and a fully restored 86 beetle to, and a shelf queen re re beetle and re re blackfoot.... love the ORV platform! Good luck with your re re build, and your blitzer mate..... both very enjoyable builds, and both seriously fun cars to run! 👍 👍 👍
