Started this video piecing together another chassis for one of my vintage bodies, but I was missing a crucial part. So I got another car, lol. Thanks to Scale_Rod_Garage on IG for the deal on this nice used chassis!

That’s a cool build! Front wheel drive! Nice! Like the civic! Maybe you’ll get lucky finding what you need to complete the chassis.👌😎👍

That FF01 short wheelbase (SWB) was specifically made for the Renault Clio Williams body😉

the Peougot I have for the TL01 in box, nice deal there, like Tamiya's front motor stuff.

Transmission will probably implode. Even when plastics were new they weren't made to withstand those sort of loads. Let alone when they've become brittle after 30 years

Interesting build….I got myself an ff01 second hand a while back, but only now getting around to sorting it all out for club racing. You mentioned that the chassis can be lengthened? Any idea how that is done? I didnt get any manual with mine and though many forums talk about the ff01, I havent seen anyone mention lengthening the chassis/wheelbase. Only asking as I have the same issue as yourself except my chosen shell is a Pug 306.

The rear subframe comes apart and has a second set of mounting holes. 3 screws on the back side of the rear bulk head and 2 on the bottom. Once it comes apart youll have to flip the rear bulkhead around the other direction. It will now line up with other holes and give you a longer wheelbase. I was very surprised when I found this. It may be easier if you take the entire rear section off the main chassis to do this as well.

@@RCeveryday Thanks soo much for explaining this. Just had a go and it’s now perfect. 😊I also now understand your surprise as it opens up the chassis to a whole more variety of shells! I’m also guessing that though the difference in length may be small upon first glance, it will affect performance (so possibly more stable perhaps?) Either way, thanks for taking the time to explain this def appreciated. Makes me wonder what other changes to some earlier Tamiya models are possible but many don’t know about. Just got yourself another subscriber to add to your +80k RC army lol

@@friktionrc Im glad I could help! There are a lot of ways to adjust the wheelbase on the ta01/02/ff01s The rear arms can easily be flipped to shorten the wheelbase as well. I may have to do a video on it all.

So, are you sure, you have gearboxes? lol I've never driven any of the front-wheel drive front motor cars. Do they drive way differently?

They drive very different. Someone made a front drive offroad buggy that was wild. Can’t remember the brand.
