My favorite movie in the whole world! GONE WITH THE WIND! The pictures belong to artless.lilting.org/ The muisc "Tara's Theme" is performed by the Philharmonic Orchestra!!
Every Christmas, in my childhood we sat to watch this moovie. Many years in a row. My eyes cry missing those free, simple and happy days. Miss my familly members that are not in this realm anymore. Merry Christmas every one out there. Love from Portugal 🇵🇹💖🎅
Querida amiga , coincidência ou não , em minha infância tbm víamos em casa este filme quando passava no Brasil ! Todas as vezes minha mãe chorava e eu gritava "De novo mãe ?" !!! Abraços do Brasil !
Gente, que relato belíssimo! Só fui descobrir esse filme quando meu filho já estava crescido, com mais de 18 anos. Se ele ainda fosse aquela criança linda por quem sempre fui apaixonado eu iria viver essa emoção com ele! 😄
@@albertcook1960 But if people watch the movie and are uneducated on the topic they aren't going to search it up they're just gonna assume that's what it was like, especially younger children. Not to mention the depictions of the slaves themselves is extremely outdated and promotes many racist stereotypes of the early 20th century, especially the depiction of Prissy.
Lord Slamzer truth be told the movie was not about slavery. It was about a woman and what she had to do to survive. It just happened to have slaves in it.
@@jeremybrown9356 Yes, the narrative itself isn't about slavery, or promoting it necessarily. But the depiction of the slaves and slavery is still borderline racist, uncomfortable, and definitely false. Also if we're talking about the core themes of the film itself, you can also see clearly how it portrays the confederacy as glorious heroes, and the union as ravenous invaders. And yes, I am aware of the horrors Sherman's army commited while moving into Atlanta and Sherman's march. I recommend watching this two part series on the movie to get another perspective. ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-1fukTk8gJ3M.html
She was a great actress. They were all good and memorable in their own way. By the way, did you know that the actor who played Beau (Melanie and Ashley's son) is still alive at 88?
Sure it is. I often feel nostalgic for old movies that were released years before I was born. I think the great film scores of the Golden Age of Hollywood are a big part of that.
"Why, land is the only thing in the world worth working for, worth fighting for, worth dying for, because it's the only thing that lasts "God as my witness, I shall never be hungry again!" "Frankly My Dear, I don't give a damn!" So many great lines from this classic!
My grandmother, who died about 20 years ago, first saw this when it was released in 1939. Her and I both watched it on DVD with sound blaring through the surround sound system. It was like she had been transported back to her first viewing. Since then I have worn out two copies of the DVD and have the sealed anniversary edition (with another for me to watch)! One of the greatest movies ever made!
My grandmother loved this. At my grade school graduation I was in a stupidly big dress (catholic school) and was sitting with a bunch of boys. She remarked to my mother that I was Scarlett and it's still one of my favorite memories.
Used to read the NYT years ago. Often their short review of a movie would contain a line like this. Not a very good film, but worth listening just for that Steiner score.
One of the most beautiful, heart-felt, and emotion-filled movie themes ever! Max Steiner is pure genius! I love how loud this video is! Teaches all these modern people to never forget the classics!
Richard Noe all the best to your future endeavours i just watched this movie two days back with my grand uncle he had urged me to see it and frankly i loved this wonderful piece of art on celluloid
Absolutely - I am moved to tears I love this powerful melodious composition so much - as well, I love this -- 'The Million Dollar Movie' -- from when they knew how to produce a movie!! My parents loved this film as well and my Mom told me when she went to see it in the theatre it was standing room only and people sat in the aisles.
Miss Florinda! - Prof. giraffes! - What a miracle the Lord around here! - I came to bring you this humble gift... - Wouldn't you like to come in and have a cup of coffee? - Wouldn't it be too uncomfortable…? - Of course not, come in... -After the lady…..
This movie holds a special place in my heart. My mother loves this movie. She loves the book, the movie, the characters, everything about it. Because of that, I cherish and love it too. What a better time to say than on Mothers Day? Happy Mothers day everyone.
Hi Claudia, I totally agree! This music is great, and I have loved it since childhood. I think he wrote (and helped) with many themes of that (Golden) era!
@@DCBARNONE89 What's funny to me is the name Tara is I think the only Irish Clan name left. The others were purged by the British and Scottish I believe. My biological paternal grandmother was a Murphy from Ireland and if the Tara Clan.
This Iconic movie transcends the geographic line of the world.I am from Bangladesh watched this movie in mid 60 still I recall the scenes vividly .Truly a great movie should be preserved for genations to come.We haven't seen in our lifetime movie like this.
My mama sure did raise me right, I grew up watching this movie. My friend had never seen it, I just watched it with her for her first time yesterday. Seeing a young person with little interest in classic movies react so emotionally reminds me of what an epic Gone With the Wind really is.
Best motion picture of all time. Loved the music score to this movie as well. Both Clark Gable & Vivien Leigh were superb in their roles. Vivien Leigh WAS Scarlett O'Hara, meaning that she was born to play that role. It was tailor made for her. Nobody else could've done the role justice the way that she did.
Greatest Movie ever...watch it every Chance I can...still cry at the ending Because I wanted them Scarlett and Rehett to be together...Fell in love With Mr. Gable at the age of 10 yrs. My daughter is named Tara in honor Of this classic...NEVER NEVER will Tire of this classic....thank you for This video of clips....
Hattie was one of the most talented actresses and was iconic in Gone With the Wind. She did receive an honorary Academy Award at a time the color barrier still existed in Hollywood.
AGREED! I loved her character ... and the woman as well! I love every role she has played. A beautiful person - heart and soul. God Bless Hattie McDaniel - heaven is blessed to have her.
A Masterpiece!!! This song is a masterpiece that brought up morals, pride and loyalty, death, repentance courage and forgiveness through the movie Gone With the Wind, A true work of art! No should try retro fit this movie to reflect the year 2020.
I Love this movie, I was a small child living in Atlanta, Georgia when this move premiered there. "Once there was a land of Cavaliers and Cotton Fields, called the Old South.....Here in this pretty world Gallantry took its last bow. Here was the last ever to be of Knights and of their ladies fair, of master and of slave....Look for it only in books for it is no more than a dream remembered.... A Civilization Gone With The Wind". Thank you for bringing back the memories! Priceless!
I first saw "Gone With the Wind" when it with my mum at a cinema in Ilford, east London when it was re-released on its 40th anniversary in 1979. From the moment Max Steiner's glorious haunting overture started, music that goes right through you, I knew this was going to be a big occasion and we were spellbound throughout the entire film. It does have its faults but they are far outweighed by the sheer spectacle of the production and the sensational performances of all concerned, not only the four main stars but the supporting actors as well. And the colour for the time was rich and luscious. Hard to believe it was "only" 40 years old then and yet more than 40 years have passed since my mum and I first saw it but that doesn't matter, this is a film that will live forever. David, Crouch End, London N8
The greatest film ever, and most of the emotional scenes were left to the audience's imagination. Now it's meet, jump into bed, baby arrives, and daddy takes off. What a contrast then between then and now. Give me then anytime.
@@navblue20 Very few people realize this, but since the beginning of time, there has always been a balance of negative and positive in this world, and this percentage fluctuates very little. In every era since the dawn of life on Earth, there has pleasant and unpleasant in every era of it, no exceptions. And no era is inherently evil or saintly than any other, only different. It is the rare individual who is able to step back from the chaotic fervor and divisive, mind-controlling opinions of others, and see the grand picture of it all, as they gain _true wisdom and inner peace._ But very few are ready for this wisdom and inner peace. So they continue to be thrown to and fro by the whirling winds of mass resistance and herd mentality. 🌿🕊️🧘♀️🕊️🌿
- Professor Girafales... - Dona Florinda... - Que milagre o senhor por aqui. - Vim lhe trazer este humilde presentinho. - Oh! Mas não quer entrar pra tomar uma xícara de café? - Não seria muito incômodo? - Oh! De maneira nenhuma! Queira entrar... - Depois da senhora...
I was born the year this movie came out. I'm now about to be 84. I remember when I was maybe 13 or14 and the film was re-released. I went by myself to our fanciest down-town theatre. I had never before experienced a movie what was more than 2 hours long. Most were about 90 minutes. My mother cautioned me to "take a hankie", and she was right. I was completely undone any number of times on that first viewing. I can't say how many times I've seen it again, but it remains a masterful piece of film-making on all levels. The fact that it now clashes with our "politically correct" notion of things is an absurd reason to denigrate the film. All works of art reflect the times and attitudes in which they are made, and so long as we understand that we are able to see the extraordinary achievement of a work like GWTW. And this soaring theme, with its constantly upward-vaulting octaves is a truly foundational part of the film's emotional life.
I loved this song in the early fifties when it was the theme song of Million Dollar Movie and even more when I discovered Gone With the Wind. Later on, I named my beautiful daughter Tara...such a hauntingly beautiful melody...
Such a heartwarming theme and greatly accompanying with sweet soundtrack. Tara even has character on its own! Vivien Leigh is like ahead of her time.... Her grace in and out of silverscreen exceeds all... a great combination of Audrey Hepburn, Amy Adams, Kate Winslet, Jodie Foster, Emma Thompson, Rita Hayworth and many other great artists altogether. It is just my opinion, on how much density she personifies.... She dissolves into her art and dedicate to act throughout her colorful life. We love you Vivien Leigh... Olivia de Havilland too ❤💔💔 You've been missed sorely and living in our heart
Thank you, thanks for bringing this back to life for me. It is the most wondrerful movie ever made. Margret Mitchell made these parts for these actors as if she knew before hand. This movie can never be remade, changed or updated. It stand on it's own forever. I saw it on the big screen as a young girl. No t.v. showing can give it justice. Happiness, hardship, war, famine, love and much more this movie it the height of what a movie should be. Love all of it and the music is devine.
What a movie and what a heart touching thrme!Hats off to impeccable Max Steiner who composed the finest.Vivian Leigh n suave Clarke Gable were superb.👌👌👌💐🎂
One of the greatest movies ever made. It won eleven Academy Awards! The acting is superb. And the book and movie gives one a vivid picture of the Civil War. We lost more of our men in that war than any, I believe. Thank you for the download of this beautiful song and the great scenes from the movie. I watch it often! 👍💕
Leslie Howard, actor, (Ashley Wilks), died in WWII, in 1943, when his plane was shot down, by the Luftwaffe. He died just four years after playing Ashley, in the great movie, GWTW.
..and his wife from this movie (Olivia de Havilland) is (2019) the only living member from the cast. Pretty remarkable when you think about that Leslie has been dead for 76 years.
Best line in the book &movie was given to Ashley Wilks (Leslie Howard). " Most of the misery of the world has been caused by wars. . And when the wars were over, no one could remember what they were about,". Margaret Mitchell did a book on PAST history, GONE w/ the wind. And Hattie McDanial was the greatest actress I ever saw.
When I was 13 years old I first come with the wind I considered myself more oldfashioned than older americans Clark gable looked like my grandpa that died in the beginning of well suddenly .can't stop but watch this timely movie every year during the holidays.the tv stations haven't played it in years.its a classic movie that will always be rememembered as a lost movie
Back in the fifties, I saw the movie, and at that time channel 8 in San Diego had the daily news, with Tara’s theme as their back ground music. That’s when this music, Tara’s theme, became part of my history. I used to tear-up when ever it played, as it reminded me of how a way of life disappeared from history resulting from the civil war, hence the name of the movie…”Gone with the wind”!
Its beauty is timeless and for the ages. If you could have live the era of 40-50-60 and 70's like I have, America would be a wonder of a land to live. We have lost so much, we really have.
I am an Uruguayan senior citizen. I saw this movie 3 times: in my teens, in my forties and in senior age. First two times it did not quite impress me, but last time I was thrilled to see Gable, Leigh and Howard's performances. And the picture overall is fantastic.
Another classic - Vivien Leigh & Clarke Gable - they no longer produce such epic movies. The story line is embedded in historical times during the turbulent Civil War era - a very sad part of our history indeed. Vivien Leigh is breathtakingly beautiful. Clarke Gable is such a charming gentleman.
To read the book, is like a history of the era and you understand the film better. It was one of the best films ever seen. But grab a copy of the book if you can find one. Excellent in all dimensions.
Brilliant movie full of gusto action and sadness. Hardship and loss are a terrible thing to withstand but it can be overcome. This film is an inspiration ❤
