Billie's mom was Sharon on X-Files, and her brother, who wrote most of her music, was on Glee. Her family is quite connected, and they kept her out of school so they could work toward this. I hardly think this is what Taylor had in mind when she made this speech.
@@LHH56156 her family's cameos in shows had nothing to do with with billie's success as a musician/singer. and her parents choosing to homeschool her/being "connected" don't mean they were trying to make billie famous or whatever you're trying to say. besides, finneas and billie have written about 90% of their songs *together*, so no, it isn't just him writing them. you can't really fake success in the first place. though, wasn't there that rumor that taylor's dad bought a bunch of copies of her ep? don't try to put them up against eachother because i'm sure they both have respect for eachother as artists and musicians.
She knew that free streaming was the future. but Billies mom was Sharon on X-Files, and her brother, who wrote most of her music, was on Glee. Her family is quite connected, and they kept her out of school so they could work toward this. I hardly think this is what Taylor had in mind when she made this speech.
Lindsey Henderson what are you trying to say doesn’t change the fact that Billie was still in a girls choir and learning to play piano and is now Woman of the Year, like Taylor said. Lmao.
Lindsey Henderson billie has said multiple times her family wasn’t known nobody knew them they were not famous billie said she feels bad for them because they are very talented and it’s a shame they wasn’t known she wishes they were but they wasn’t her parents admitted that and her brother helps her with music they do it together they both play their part billie made it herself I do agree her brother is very underrated that’s true but it’s not true billies parents made her famous they were poor they had no money small parts in acting helped them a little but not much because nobody knew them their parts were small finneas tried to make money by making a band which didn’t really work out so it’s a full lie she is who she is today because of her
to be honest it was pretty scripted (Gena's). You know it's scripted when she forgets her lines in the middle and it doesnt look natural like it should be.
I love watching all of her speeches, she's so clever, cultured, educated, mature. She's not brainless, that girl has real power in her words, she knows exactly what she's saying. You can really see that she has good intentions and she put so much work and her soul in everything she does, says. Such an inspiration for me.
Gabriel Clayton Absolutely! She may not speak as brilliantly, but man, she talks lovely to her fans and her friends! That’s why I love her! Plus, last summer, I went to her concert and her speech for Delicate was spectacular!! Or should I say, Tay-tacular!!
6:40 "somewhere right now, your future Woman of the Year is probably sitting in a piano lesson or in a girls choir" -- BILLIE EILISH (who was 12 at that time and was in a choir) is now Billboard's Woman of the Year. 🧝♀️ Wow, Tay! Love your speech. ❤
"We need to continue, to try and offer something to a younger generation of musicians because somewhere, right now, your future Women Of The Year is probably sitting in a piano lesson or in a girls choir, and today, right now, we need to take care of her" PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE, JUST TRY!!!
@@joshuazamorag she just implied that their is a little girl somewhere in this world that in 10 or 15 years might be the future woman of the year and she needs to be taken care of
oh my god she's so intelligent, and such a great businesswoman. you know she's genuine bc she wouldn't be able to get this far if she was being told what to do. this is all her. i applaud her for making a change in the music industry.
X-Files, and her brother, who wrote most of her music, was on Glee. Her family is quite connected, and they kept her out of school so they could work toward this. I hardly think this is what Taylor had in mind when she made this speech.
Taylor Swift, 2014: We need to continue to try and offer something to a younger generations of musicians, because right now your future woman of the year is sitting in a piano lesson or a girls choir, and today, right now, we need to take care of her. Billie Eilish, 2019, receiving Woman of the Year award: Thank you for taking care of me.
Taylor Swift has had such an amazing impact. not only is she a talented musician but she is a role model to ALL of her fans. I love her so much. 😙. She totally deserves it.
Serenity Price Taylor Swift did such a great job accepting her speech right there! Although you may credit her as a role model and I agree with that, but she’s still a musician. That’s for sure.
Loved this except that they cut the part where Taylor was high fiving the other girl and then after, said "Just making things awkward everywhere I go" That was one of the best parts
ive never heard any of the kardashians talk with so much intelligence in a speech before. oh they've never given speeches before. well, it all makes perfect sense now.
SHe is really smart. I appreciate an artist who can be as intelligent as she is. I'd definitely like to have a conversation with her. Taylor reminds me of my friends: intelligent, cultured, educated, even multi-lingual.
6:40 Billie Eilish was 12 at the time & ocean eyes wasn't even released yet..she actually was in a choir and was playing the piano...fast forward in 2019.. she is the WOMAN OF THE YEAR
Taylor has evolved in such a positive direction. I mean she was great from the start but she is now becoming even more cognizant of feminism, compassion & not only what is required to be a more than fantastic role model but also how to do so even more effectively. She's doing a superb job!
"Because somewhere right now you future woman of the year is probably sitting for the piano lesson or in a girl choir" and today Billie Eilish is crowned as Woman of the year . She was 12 years old when taylor gave this speech . Taylor is a pure genius !
at first, the girl who is talking... is she Gena? because I just watched that Taylor surprised Gena at her bridal shower with all the gifts and sweet things!
After watching her 2019 woman of the decade speech, this 2014 speech she mentioned while she was on stage suddenly popped up on my screen and seeing her now being a much smarter and stronger woman makes me feel proud of her, that final line she brought up from this one in her 2019 speech is so true to reality that this year’s woman of the year did take piano lessons and sang in a girls choir and that is Billie Eilish, It’s so hard to think of the long way she has come and how tough it must have been for her but let’s just recognize how it all paid off, she’s came so far and that achievement is very well deserved, happy 30th birthday TayTay💗
Beautiful speech. I love her thought about offering something which i think good ones to the young generations through music. Such a real musician with genuine awareness brilliant mind mature and responsible. Clever person. May god bless her.. Love from Indonesia
I couldn't stand Taylor in her beginning. As we've grown. Taylor's humility, candour, and business/creativeness. How MUCH she shares, then cares for her fans! I am now in awe of her strength, and talent. I hope that one day I can meet this dedicated woman, oooh! #Catlover Thank you, Taylor, for the help, and ways to sing...
Ariana sitting there at 3:59 not knowing she would get it a couple years later! So adorable, and then how Taylor predicted how Billie won women of the year!
6:40 Taylor says that somewhere right now there is the next women of the year sitting in a piano lesson. Billie eilish ( women of the year 2019) was 11 Or 12 at the time and had piano lessons. She was right.
Like 5 years later though. Doesn't this get awarded every year, not every 5 years? Not every girl is as a lucky and fortunate as Billie, who had parents who kept their kids out of school in hopes that they would become something in the entertainment industry, while all the while they're out on auditions trying to become something in the industry. Her mom was on X Files, and her brother was on Glee. And then also, to have a brother who can write and produce all of this music for you professionally. I'd imagine this wasn't exactly what Taylor had in mind when she wrote this speech.
@@LHH56156 it's all luck? First. YES . But after that ? NO. At first it's luck with ocean eyes . But then if she didnt work hard like she did after that she wouldnt be any where she's today. She could easily be like 'i dont want this shit' when ocean eyes blew up and just became a one hit wonder. But she keep going. Like in the interview she said the first tour was miserable she hate the trip but love the show. Then it kept getting better and better. She work hard for her her place and saying that it's all luck is just ignorant. She young and had achieved so much. What did you achieved when you were 17 ??
did anyone else notice her giving Ariana a hug right before going up to accept the award? hugging a future woman of the year, talking about a future woman of the year (Billie), I think Taylor Swift might be psychic
The first and only woman to be named woman of the year twice plus awarded woman of the decade. Along with heartfelt thank yous to her fans, billboard and people who’ve been supporting her she also takes the time to raise important issues like fair compensation to artists and how artists should own their work. Her music is excellent and she’s a songwriting maestro. There’s no kind of success that she hasn’t achieved; be it chart success, critical acclaim or awards or sales. Don’t tell me she isn’t THE MUSIC INDUSTRY!
The one that introduce her was the woman named "gena" who has been surprised by taylor during her bridal shower and she introduced taylor!!! That woman is sooooo lucky
at first i was real annoyed with how she's making her music so you have to buy it (still am tbh) but i understand it more now after watching this. i admire her for telling the world that she is making a product, and if you want to listen to it, then you must actually support it. i still want music to be free tho.
Cale Andersen yea but I KNOW that taylor swift is not starving, being on the forbes list of "worlds highest paid celebrities" does not classify one as a starving artist.
+Julia Hulia First off, stop using 'literally' wrong. If you 'literally said' those then I would've heard your voice, sorry if that sounds rude. Aaand, I know you admire her and I respect your opinion but music needs to be paid for to compensate those producers, writers, singers etc. I know she's rich but she's putting in effort and hardwork to those songs. I think that needs to be rewarded right? Taylor may be fairly compensated but she knows reality. A lot of musicians are broke while companies enjoy the sales. It just happens that Tay is famous but what if she isn't?
