The entire ballet is incredibly amazing, but this Pas de deux stands out. How could someone compose such a heavenly music? Simply I can't find the answer. It goes beyond my thinking. The only thing I can say with all my forces: A MILLION THANKS TCHAIKOVSKY!!!!
Tchaikovsky wrote this pas de deux in a very difficult period of his life, he was unwell and everything was somehow going wrong. Taking into account the fact that Tchaikovsky was an eerie melancholic in his temperament - perhaps such moments give rise to absolute magic in music.
This piece is so hauntingly beautiful. Tchaikovsky wrote this in memory of his beloved sister who had passed away suddenly. The emotions of extreme grief, sorrow and sadness is definitely expressed in this most brilliant composition.
i can feel his grieving so intensely .. i just lost my fiance so suddenly, 3 days ago and im overseas trapped in my country cant even make it to his funeral… im crying heavily inside my heart while listen to this piece
@@natasyagoff24 im very sorry for your loss, while i can merely say this through a comment, I truly send my condolences and wish upon you new wonderful chapters in life 🌹
Humans are terrible creatures, committing all manner of horrific atrocities. And then I listen to this pas de deux and am reminded of the human capacity for great beauty. What creatures are we?!
so true. We are fearfully and wonderfully made, but terribly broken by sin. We need the Savior Jesus Christ to restore us to our original intended beauty
A friend of mine, who loves Tchaikovsky, told me about how his late brother loved playing the trumpet. He wasn't good at all he just loved playing it. People and classmates would make fun of his playing and they would tell him to give it up. My friend could tell it really hurt his brothers feelings. His brother was gentle and sweet. He was a little slow but that didn't stop him from always trying his best. My friend told me that after his brother passed away at a young age he found condolences in this piece. At the very end where the trumpets are in unison, holding that note, loud and bold, he always pictures his brother playing alongside them, proud and happy.
@@ОльгаФёдорова-у2сБратишка, ты долбоеб? Речь про братишку в тексте, который погиб. Встречный вопрос, зачем вы на такой эмоциональный пост пишите такой высер?
I just cried onto my homework...oops I suddenly just had a realisation that this was created by a mere, yet not so mere human! This is the music of the gods!
Check this piece out by Tchaikovsky. I came across it by accident. This is what I imagine is what is heard when ascending to heaven. ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-SZQzW_QfPew.html
I’m typing this in the COVID-19 era, so my shuddering tears were covered by my mask as I listened to this with headphones on (because of an earlier zoom meeting because....global pandemic). Pure, ethereal beauty.
@@jamesjackson8634 Yes, I used to admire Gergiev's work !!! However now I know he's a (close ?) friend of your Putin. So I'm not able to like him anymore ! I hope you understand ? Yet I still L💚VE the masterpieces by Piotr Ilyich TCHAIKOVSKY, who was a musical genius ! 🎼 🎻 🎶
My dear friend had this playing at his funeral, along with Piano Trio (Shostakovich), and Piano Concerto No.2 (Rachmaninoff). He had a full orchestra in a cathedral, even though he wasn't religious. He likes these three Russians, as he would call them. "The golden trio." He was an exceptional young fellow, a gentleman. Always dapper, always spoke well, and read a lot too. He was 19 at the age of death, and he knew it was about to happen. Handled it very stoic. When people came around, he asked "Have they swept away the gravel?" (After winter). Or "Did the postman come as usual today?" He knew we all were in grief, but somehow I think he enjoyed it. But the funeral was beautiful, he had structured the songs in a particular order, first the Piano Trio (haunting violin tragedy), then this, and lastly Piano Concerto. He made someone read from the Illiad and some own poems. One of them was: We leave nothing to this world. Our life is for ourselves. And another one about a love of his, I don't know whom: So you look out for the stars Pay attention to the birds And the oceans And hope to glimpse her there And that constant hope Becomes you very reality. He had so many friends you never thought about. It was us at his age, from school and childhood. But then there were people all around the world. Young as old. Men, women. He had a dozen people flying in from Italy that I never knew existed. And they all had such beautiful stories about him. There was a girl too, from the west coast. She loved him uncontrollably, and I knew this would never end for her. For me, the whole thing was so beautiful I wanted to die too.
One of the best for sure! I had that tingle (shivers) down my spine near the climax! This pas de deux is one of the most intense pieces Tchaikovsky ever wrote in my book. Almost as intense as the 2nd movement of his 5th symphony...
This is the first rendition I have heard where the conductor does not absolutely and completely ruin this magnificent piece of music by going too fast. Nice work Mr. Gergiev.
I agree! For me, this song MUST be tentative, lilting and languid, or the essence is totally lost! Plus, once they build up to that crashing climax, it actually means something! I have full body chills at that part in this performance, whereas I often find that part almost noisy and obnoxious in a faster performance.
Actually, when Tchaikovsky wrote this his sister (his favorite person on earth) had recently died, and he began to see her in Clara. It is heartbreaking.
4:15 😭😭😭😭😭😭😭 Парень с тарелками довёл меня до истерики, реву, пересмотрела 10 раз! Спасибо!!!!!!! Какая красивая музыка, какой труд, оркестранты......🙏💔
The best example on how an elemental descending scale in G major ( g-f#-e-d-c-b-a-g) is turned in a glorious and lush music using another elemental chord progression (G-Em-Am-D-G) .....
My partner of 20years introduced me to Tchaikovsky's incredible masterpieces. This is one of my favourites so powerful. Sadly David passed in 2020. I miss sharing such experiences with him so very much... 😢
A most wonderful interpretation of a best-loved piece. Throughout it all, I was conscious of how Tchaikovsky himself, would have been so pleased that his music retains an appeal even in these days.
Oh god I don´t know why when I listen to this piece of art I can´t stop crying but I don´t know if it is from happiness or what I don´t know why. It is like if this music went deep down into my soul D; WE NEED MORE ARTISTS LIKE TCHAIKOVSKY, SERIOUSLY. I can´t describe with words how much I love this piece. By the way this video was uploaded the day of my birthday which is in 2 days. Thank you for this gift :)
I could feel the tribute, love, and dedication to this masterpiece by the expressions of the director, and the musicians themselves. This was the most outstanding reindition of this song that I have ever heard. It makes me want to cry!!
Bravo Gergiev! and Tchaikovsky! I had that tingle (shivers) down my spine near the climax! This pas de deux is one of the most intense pieces Tchaikovsky ever wrote. Almost as intense as the 2nd movement of his 5th symphony...
Every time I hear this masterpiece I have goosebumps. It feels like my soul lives my body, flies high to higher beings and comes back. Thank you to the genius of Tchaikovsky ❤❤❤❤
The conductor is a consummate professional as well as the orchestra. I still don't know how he can maintain his composure notwithstanding the sheer beauty of this piece 🧩 and the harpist is the most delicate and graceful creature I have ever seen in my life.
Most heartfelt, inspired and impressive interpretation I've ever heard. Maestro Gergiev is great! I had the chance to work with his sister and to sing under his nephew's baton. I hope one day to meet the Maestro himself...
It’s the best rendition I’ve ever listened to. This pas de deux really stands out. But I still can’t figure out why maestro Gergiev is using a toothpick instead of a baton.
I’m a dancer and I play a couple instruments and in my opinion this song is the most passion filled out of all of the ballets The music is packed to the top with beauty and elegance, and the graceful nature of the dance leaves the audience amazed with the passion and supremacy of the combination. I associate it with sitting in the wings with other dancers and cheering for the dancers on stage when they get the lift or turn that they have been working on for months and being almost jealous that they got to perform to this. I also think of the times when I have played simplified and complicated versions on my instruments. I love this piece more than dance and instruments combined
Cette version est la plus juste, la plus subtile et la plus émouvante de toutes celles que j’aie entendues. Merci pour la mise en ligne de cette magnifique interprétation. Quel immense chef d’orchestre !!!
For our symphony show we played this in the winter, and it was so hard to master without breaking down after practices and rehearsals. And yet the piece brings chills to my spine every time it’s played, and sitting in the middle of the orchestra playing it you don’t get the effect the audience does… this video brings it to life
RU-vid is freaking awesome!! Lol I see why Tchaikovsky achieved international recognition. It's abundantly clear. This is a world treasure and musical masterpiece
This and the Swan Theme ( "Swan Lake", Act II, 10 scene) are the embodiment of the romantic concept of sublime. How Tchaikovsky did this, I cannot explain; something out of the human mind
Maestro Gergiev has conducted so many ballet scores from way back when, closely associated with the productions of the Marinsky and the Bolshoi Ballet and an in-depth association with all the members of the Company, nobody understood ballet music like he did
Every time I listen to this it's like the story of my whole life is flashing before my eyes. Such a beautiful and poignant piece of music, and it flows so beautifully 😩😩
I’m overwhelmed by this piece, we get chance to experience the invisible world thru this music, the thing we’re all searching for outwardly and secretly.
una composicion como esta solo es posible para personas especialmente dotadas por la naturaleza de una supersensibilidad q les permite componer tales maravillas Gracias Piotr por este lindo regalo
The lovely girl on the harp..I always imagined a harpist to look like that. She should be a painting 🖌️🎨 she is grown wondrous pretty and this performance is marvelous!!!!
