Do you hear how absolutely quiet it is when he is singing? The audience is hanging on to every single word this man is singing. They are absolutely mesmerized and hypnotized by Teddy!!!
Ever go to a concert and the singer can't even reach the higher notes, and the song doesn't even sound like it does on the radio?? Not Teddy!!! Pure talent, knows when to project his voice and when to sing soft and tender. There will NEVER, EVER be anyone like him. Thank God there is video so younger people can see what a real singer is like. Such stage presence! Glad I have all his music on albums (AND cassettes).
So thankful someone filmed this and we all now have the chance to admire Teddy on stage!!!Such a great singer and performer!!!...love his smooth and silk voice!!!
Teddy stitched together his songs into a mesmerizing tapestry of musical fairytale! That combination of songs, music, voice, performance and sex appeal are unmatched to this day. No parallel!
Barry White's music had the same effect. I loved them both. This man was magnificent - he had that rare ability to be both romantic and sexy at the same time - something most women love!!
This is the kind of man I have been looking for its sad to say that men don't exist like Teddy pendergrass he was a beautiful man and so sexy rip Teddy pendergrass love you your singing in heaven 💝💝🔥🎧😢🍀
TP was an amazing singer!!! For me, he was in a very ELITE class, along with Marvin Gaye, Barry White and Luther Vandross. It's very sad that all these very talented musicians/performers passed away before their time. If you notice, their type of music is no longer made or recorded today. This type of black soul/R&B belonged to their era and is no longer. Thank God we have their recordings that we can listen to, because I don't like today's music.
Rightfully,Teddy belongs with the three you mentioned,as it should be. What these four did easily in their day,is an uphill task for anyone in this day.
For some reason last week Teddy Pendergrass came to my mind. His life and most of all his music. I never had the privilege to see him live so I was happy to see his live performances were recorded. Thank God for giving man the mind to create the technology that allows us to see for example this live performance. Teddy Pendergrass was awesome. No protools, no autotune, no gimmicks. Just pure vocals. How many singers can say that these days? This guy really knew how to use his voice not to mention the songwriting, the instrumentation and most of all the PASSION. I am fascinated.
Brilliant teddy at his best here before accident never truly got full recognition how great he truly was never make them like this again RiP in heaven teddy.
I cannot even imagine what growing up in the 60's and 70's would have felt like without Teddy's Music ? I have some of my best memories of my life back then and his music was a big part of it.Miss you my Philly Bro...
Katharina Burke , Not true. Far from the truth.I'm born and raised from Philly.Teddy use to sing with a local group called the " Cadillac ", before they became Harold Melvin and the Blue Notes.Like I said been listening to the late great homie since the 60's.
I’ve have all of his records, saw him at the Hammersmith Theatre in London in 1982, he came on the stage in his white suit with his back to the ordinance, then he turned around and all you could hear was a gasp from all the women, I listen to him when laying on the beach, headphones in and it’s just bliss hearing his voice ❤
Teddy, Teddy, Teddy...you were one of the few who really projected real passion. You made a huge difference on a planet too small to encompass the meaning of you brought to the love scene. RIP homie...
This is my favorite song. The instruments just blow me away as well as Mr. T.P. I was 8 when he did this performance. I wish I could've seen in concert before he left us. You are extremely loved.
WHAT A BEAUTIFUL MAN AND HIS VOICE IS LIKE NO OTHER....; THIS IS MY SONG MAY YOU REST IN PEACE MY FRIEND... YOU ARE THE BEST..... YOU WILL ALWAYS BE REMEMBERED AND LOVED BY ALL OF US... ALL YOUR SONGS ARE THE BEST!!
Grew up with his music never realised what this song was about until I grew up. What a voice, all the good ones leave us too soon. He lives on though cause I tell everyone about him who doesn't know!!!
Absolutely. He obviously loved women and it showed - he had the best combination of sexiness and tenderness - and his voice - and the music he sang - and his charisma - and - oh - all of the above!!
I don't even know how to describe what I see and hear in words. He was an expert at making demands and not sounding rude, sexist or threatening, except to the guy whose girl is about to bounce and hop in the car with teddy.
That's the all-time best line I've ever read as a video reaction!!! I'm laughing so hard I'm sending tears to you and Teddy!!!!! Thanks and God Bless!!!
WELL WELL WELL-how can you not love a man that can sing, and give good instructions! I thank Teddy for all the men out there who learned how to give instructions.

When I was a boy living in Compton in 1978 when the song "When Somebody Loves You Back" came out, I thought that Teddy was what a man should look and act like. He was a great role model for manliness. 'Sorry to say that while I'm no slouch, I never reached his physical heights. R.I.P. to a true musician who did not get the fanfare from the media that he deserved when we first learned of his passing. Thanks to TV One for their tribute to him on "Unsung".
