Tehachapi_(1991) Santa Fe SD40-2, B36-7s, B40-8, GP50 At Woodford 

The drones of those locomotives go straight to my heart. Spent so many days from 1977 on a Tehachapi and Cajon. Went to Fullerton station almost every night and saw plenty of action. Would venture out to Pomona and enjoy the SP and the UP side to side. The UP would blow freights through their with DD 40x's and SD-40-2 just screaming

...I spent a lot of time there in the 1990s...miss the sound and smoke of those old units...the oil can trains were always a sight and sound to behold...

Some one asked why the -7s dissapeared, the reason is because GE had made major improvements with their Dash 8 line of GE locomotives, the -7 s had to many problems that were carried over from the u Boat (Universal series) line of GE locomotives )ike shutting down to idle when in notch 8 pulling through the mountains for up to 5 minutes.

Great video, love the Santa Fe. I just wonder what their strategy was behind having so many different types of locomotives, and so many 4 axle units.

Man, those B36-7's sounded a little angry. In a good way, I mean. I've said it before, but it sucks that the -7's disappeared from the North American scene so quickly!

Besides the pulling power of these locos how was it determined what ones would pull which trains?

What are the cars carrying directly behind the power? Looks like giant mobile bbq pits or maybe nuke waste pots. :P
