King embodies so many pro wrestlers; His mask and general style is based on the Tiger Masks, particularly the first and second Tiger Masks; Satoru Sayama and Mitsuharu Misawa, whose moves are also reflected in King's moveset, such as Sayama's Sobat Kick or Misawa's hard elbows and the Emerald Flowsion. His backstory of fighting to raise money for his orphanage is based on the real life story of a priest turned luchador named Fray Tormenta, whose story also loosely inspired Nacho Libre. And the guy responsible for actually mocapping the moves for King and bringing the insanity to life is legendary wrestler, the Murder Grandpa, Minoru Suzuki, who is also one of the founding fathers of modern MMA. King isn't just a pro wrestler, he is pro wrestling itself and I've always loved that about him. No secret about who I'm maining, huh? 🤣
KING IS MOCAPPED BY MURDER GRANDPA??? Did he mocap his rainmaker for tekken 7? Cuz that’d be hilarious just seeing suzuki hitting the nastiest rainmaker in a full mocap outfit 😂😂
For anyone wondering why he has that lock as his rage art. It's because it's a throwback reference to Tekken 2 where he had the octopus stretch. It was an insta-kill throw he had. I love the little references Bamco is doing with their rage arts.
@@runman624 Yeah, you're right, the move was from the first King, forgot to mention the current King was a kid in the original King's orphanage. This makes the rage art even more better since he's pretty much paying homage.
When he had the mic and all you can hear were growls, it made me smile from ear to ear. King is definitely an amazing character. So glad he's in the game.
@@ItaK-ql7yz pretty sure the only characters who have appeared in every mainline game are King, Yoshimitsu, Paul, and Nina, so I don't any of them will just randomly not come back at this point
I had a friend called Edward who was a great king player in Tekken 3. He died a long time ago,and king always make me remember him. He really was a king fan from the first tekken
Rest in Paradise Edward 🙏🏼 My best friend growing up was the best Yoshimitsu player on our block! He’s since passed away, but to this day I play Yoshimitsu for him. Don’t care about no tier list. Miss and love you Adrian!! Peace and love to you and Edward ✌🏼🕊️❤️
The combo of a throw into a throw is insane. He looks so versatile and mobile in this one. Movement + Armor is gonna make him a menace for the unprepared
The character that got me interested in Tekken. I’ll never forget the first time I saw people play him in Tekken 3 in the arcade. I was a big wrestling fan back then so seeing him doing all kinds of grappling chains blew me away and made me want to learn playing him. And that’s how I got into Tekken.
This is the same story for many people that first got into Tekken. They incorrectly remember the “Guy with the tiger mask” throwing everyone around. Fun times.
I started my contact with Tekken 2 in Arcades, but when tekken3 arrived it was a before and after. What rows what was there to wait to be able to play it. My characters were Eddy, Hworang and of course the great King.
The sheer brutal animalistic power of that beast. Not only does he look more detailed and colorful, he now even has veins popping. And he even managed to be more powerful and fast than before. This alone is enough to make me want to get the game at full price when it comes out.
@@lookinlikeapinkrabbit4569 Both peoples north and south of the border, before there ever even was a border, are counted as Indigenous to this land. And are somewhat relatives to each other. So you're not too far off.
I love how they put some more personality in his character with the pointing and cutting promos. Just makes it more fun. He looks really impactful. He's just a menace and my favorite character! Can't wait for it !

HE LOOKS SO DAMN COOOOL!!! He has so much wieght in his hits and his grabs look fantastic! I am fairly fresh to Tekken but I have been a religious grappler main through fighting games and King was my favourite the moment I touched Tekken 7. And my good god does it feel great to see him look this amazing in Tekken 8
I love that they doubled down on his flashy, crowd pleaser style. Really makes it feel like a real wrestling match. Also him with the mic for what I'm assuming is a victory pose? *Chef's kiss*
0:38 That was both hilarious and badass. I'll never be a wrestler, but I am a performer and I'm really feeling King's performance mindset. The crowd loves him! Also, call a medic, cause he's breaking ALL the backs in this game. Ouch!
King's Voice actor is really really good at his voice over, the commitment to the craft and lines is pretty well done. 0:55 King's motivational speech with the mic is very inspiring too.
It's like the message is simple "Ladies and gentlemen, please pay attention to our return, your favourite KING is back and in peak form, as happy to be here as it gets .... and as happy as it gets ... celebration starting NOW"
Yeah that move that's in Tekken 7 that every king uses for a wall splat is cool. Nice to see people who never played the game before checking it out for the first time.
There's always a reason why I gravitate towards King and thats because I love wrestling. The Pedigree, Shining Wizard, the multitude of powerbombs and the cutter (RKO) are so well animated!
I personally feel that Zangief for his Street Figher 6 trailer is much better animated with the People's Elbow, Jackhammer, Suplexes and the Dragon Screw, what is your take on that?
@@sikwitit773 You can compare both characters without any ill intent. Personally I prefer SF6 style but King here has so many different moves and cool grab combos.
@Chraan Oh I love Zangief's new moveset! With leaning more into his wrestling background, it makes him more appealing to play. Though I'll probably be more likely to play Marissa for many reasons...
@@Chraan Sort of on topic. I've never liked the 2D fighter animations of missing frames. I've always preferred the looks and gameplay of 3D. But SF6 has me absolutely interested in it.
Man I never thought I would be getting spine chills from a new release as I’m getting older… this just hit me hard. King was the first character I legit tried to learn and practice. This is amazing
The hit audio is insanely satisfying this time around. King looks great. Also this stage is really nice! Wasn’t a huge fan of the MK9 ish stage but this one is great. DOA vibes.
As someone who recently picked up king I was waiting for his trailer to see how he would play in t8, and they did not disappoint. Lil majin is gonna pop off 🤣
You can see how popular King is. He got more views in one day than the other characters reveals did in three. He’s gonna become the most viewed character reveal video so far. 😂
I just wish that Bandai Namco would put in different themes within the background of these reveal trailers, every single one of them have been using the exact same one.
King is damn brutal in every tekken. I have the most trouble with King players whenever i try to be better at online or just generally. My worst nemesis, but he is the most bad ass also. Tekken 2 King and Armor King story is so brilliant.
Love the fact that Bandai Namco included Aztec/ mayan culture in his design for those who didn't see it look carefully at his Cape and what he has fastening it.
I remember when I was a kid, my grandmother always took me to this movie theater with an arcade on the side. One day I took a look at something that wasn’t Maximum Force and saw a Tekken 3 cabinet. Very first thing that popped on screen was a preview fight showing Yoshimitsu with his sick laser sword. Me being like 9 and loving all things lightsabers I immediately begged my grandma for enough quarters to play the game. I stopped caring about Yoshimitsu as soon as a I saw the man with the Jaguar head on the roster. That was all I needed. It was the crazy demon guy with a lightsaber that drew me in but it was King that sealed the deal for me on Tekken. Thanks King
I love that they brought back the Arena stage with new visuals and a way bigger crowd. The stage feels a lot more alive this time. Also seems like ever since Tag 2, they decided to make it a tradition that every Tekken game onwards gets an Arena stage.
I. AM. SPEECHLESS!!!!!!!!! King’s new animations, the GORGEOUS and dynamic stage, and his Rage Art is just absolutely PERFECT!!!! This is truly shaping up to be the BEST Tekken we’ve had so far!!!!! I am a proud fan!!!!!
This is definitely an improvement from 7, they really made him more of a wrestler then he already is. The little things like the mic and his move (the stage also helped) convince me that, they really made KING the King of Wrestling (pun intended)
@Kekker none of the clips that have came out show movement just strings. And I know atleast 50 people who won't be tekken 8 if the movement is the same as tekken 7
I have been waiting for this one. Already watched it through 5 times. King is my fav tekken character because of the design and personality and they cranked that up to 11 this time around. I can't contain my excitement!
Dude the trailer started I was like "they haven't changed a thing" and when King started hitting law like a tank I was like "this is awesome" This must be the happiest day in lil majin's life haha
