The Subclass 870 visa is a temporary visa that allows a parent of an Australian citizen, Australian permanent resident, or eligible New Zealand citizen to visit Australia for up to three (3) or five (5) years.
It provides parents and grandparents with a new pathway to reunite and spend time together through having the opportunity to visit Australia for a continuous period of up to five years.

How long is the processing time for a 870 visa and is it open to apply now during Covid? Can I apply off shore?

Hey, thanks for all the info regarding that visa, I was just wondering if there's other pathways to consider if I want to bring my mom and her partner to Australia? (and not pay 120 grands, or wait 30 years...) it's not for now, she was thinking of reaching retirement first (8 years to go). Either way, cool channel you have, cheers !

This is regarding the 870 visa. I have lived in Australia for 7 years (with student visa and 485 visa) and I have had PR for 2 years. Am I an eligible sponsor for the 870 visa?

It depends on the visa you were provided. The requirements of your visa are informed on the grant notification letter sent to you by the Department of Home Affairs

I apply 461 visa new Zealand family relationship my father was in Perth I'm waiting for the application now 24 month's I did medical checkup all ready also interview and I Sing Statory declaration February 19 this year so Medam I need to know what is how long it takes to receive the visa ?

We applied for my mom 870 visa and was approved and she went to medical examination in April, but after that we didn't heard anything. Why we are waiting for so long?

Parents visa take only 3/4 months but why spouse visa needs so long time? 😪😪

Processing times are impacted each month by changes in application volumes, seasonal peaks, complex cases, and incomplete applications. The Department of Home Affairs assess applications on a case-by-case basis, and actual processing times can vary due to individual circumstances including: whether you have lodged a complete application, including all necessary supporting documents how promptly you respond to any requests for additional information how long it takes to perform required checks on the supporting information provided how long it takes to receive additional information from external agencies, particularly in relation to health, character, and national security requirements for permanent migration visa applications, how many places are available in the migration program

A travel ban was imposed on all non-resident and non-Australian citizens coming into Australia from 9.00pm , Friday 20th March 2020. Only Australian citizens, permanent residents, New Zealand citizens who are normally resident in Australia and immediate family members of Australian citizens and permanent residents can enter Australia after this time. Once the travel ban is lifted, the Department will start to process offshore temporary visas.
