Hi, you did one of the best tutorials and explaining I have seen for tonex so far, well done for that. However I am still waiting for someone to do one without the Capture hardware unit, and also without the need to mic up a cab. There will be a lot of bedroom or small home studio players that may have a couple of amp heads, don't have a cab (i.e use IR's) and maybe just have a simple little focusrite 2 input 2 output audio interface or similar, for ikmedia do a bad job of explaining how you would get by using a setup like that if you dont want to fork out for the capture hardware. So I guess i would like to see a real world how to hook it all up for a typical home studio that does not have a lot of gear.
The Advanced Training won't take 5 hours if you have an nVidia GPU going by what many users have reported on the Gear Page. Waiting for the next update; my experience capturing an amp /amp&stomp via a Suhr Reactive Load has rendered VERY inaccurate results so I gave up on the plugin. Maybe they'll nail it in the next iterations.
I also tried several times and I found that with too much high gain it does not capture very well, better to not use too much gain and then add more after the capture. I have the Mac Studio with M1 Max so maybe will be faster. I’ll try
Were your issues with direct, amp head only captures or inclusive of micing the cab? Any lessons learned on how to get better result? I went ahead and bought the plugin today despite multiple reviews similar to yours about inconsistent results. Just trying to start figuring out how to short cut around the issues to get better results out of the gate rather than deal with 20 hours wasted on attempting 4 advanced capture efforts that all wind up sucking before I finally figure out how to get good results.
@Mad Steex Yeah, there seems to be many users reporting inaccurate, not good, etc. results that I am rephrasing as inconsistent (e.g. like the OP post above). I have not come across anyone outlining some lessons learned yet though on how to avoid whatever it is that might be contributing to the subpar results. I just bought the plugin today and am hoping to find some deeper insight on how to avoid the issues before I wind up wasting days with trial and error myself given the super slow advanced training mode (no nvidia GPU for me). Trial and error was not as much of a big deal with learning with the Quad Cortex's relatively quicker process.
Better overall sound but same problem on high gain captures, I've to test on super bright plexi sounds which kemper cannot capture, only lowering presence knob and than apply eq to preserve the presence
I agree with thehoppo that this is the best tutorial I have seen on routing at this point. My biggest question concerns routing of the guitar and Mic 1.....are BOTH the guitar AND Mic 1 being routed out of Line Out 5 to the Tonex...??
Hi thanks for the appreciation :) answering to your question...NO! if you capture the entire rig so amp and cab and you use a microphone for the cab, the mic MUST go to your audio interface (make also sense if you want to use condenser mic to use phantom power). The guitar cable goes to the audio interface, and only thhe send signal goes to the capture. I've explaind in the video. Basically the Line XLR Input on the Tone X is only when you capture the Amp alone.
@@MadSteex I am still a little confused. Your guitar is plugged into Mic/Inst 2 of your interface. The output of that is going to Line Out 5....the Input of TONEX. Your microphone is going into Mic 5. Is this input routed to Monitors L/R, or is it routed somewhere else...??
@@acadian21 Yes you can listen the MIC IN 5 if you want, but I've bypassed the mixer of my audio interface so I just wanna listen the real output processed by the TONE X
