I wasnt aware that AEA released a compact version of this model. This is really cool! I'd like to see it perform a bit better, but what a great concept.
Only problem I had with mine was the firing pins and the springs that push barrels . I replaced firing pins from ares and it helped. I’m ordering Cody’s short barrel end today and probably the longer version for my gen 1 long barrel. After talking to him i believe this resolved most of the issues with the misfires . I can say with my longer barrel version I had dropped a axis at 106 yards with my Benjamin bd Taurus and broke his spine to where I couldn’t get up and run off . I took him with one shot from defender with jsb behind the ear and it was over instantly. There much more than given credit for
My one major issue with the defender is that you run the risk of getting bad burst disc's making them unreliable. Also we can't even carry them in upstate NY. You'll get an AM charge if you use it in public.

I love this compact version. And i love the derringer like design of these. I just wish they were more reliable. I guess Macabespeed is confident w/ his but i'll still wait for something new to compete w/ this, only pocket pistol of power yet.
What helped me was putting a small amount of silicone oil on the oring at the burst disk or I’ve replaced them with a slightly larger o ring. It’s helped with slow leaking issues on several of mine.
instead of a burst disk why don’t they just design it with a firing pin and a little gas cartridge with a valve that opens , the firing pin opens the valve
Time for some competition. The burst disc's are the weak point. I agree that a valve being held shut by a spring would be better. Then just a hammer can push a pin into that opens that valve and bam
Great testing. Scott you definitely do the best testing on You Tube. Thanks for the great video A while back there was a guy making different barrels for these in various calibers. I think if you talked to Cody and he can make one in .25 cal. And someone used a hollow point .25 cal pellet. It would get the best results both on penetration and expansion. Something to possibly ask him about
Thank you! Cody has a video up shooting his Defender in .25 cal in and it screams at 607 fps! The down side of this is the high pressure is being reduced into a smaller barrel and the back pressure wears on the firing pins.
I used a Lenox copper tube cutter you can purchase at Lowes. Although it is for copper it cuts these barrels with ease and super even and clean! Place barrel in a vice, clamp tube cutter and rotate until end falls off. Done!
