Nothing bad. Even Farangs have stereotype about Thais in negative way. It's normal. You don't need to spoil them. I graduated in Abroad. There are many poor educated Farangs.
when I first went to thailand alone, I met a girl who had worked in the bars for 20 odd years. She said mine was the BIGGEST and I was the BEST at it..... No other woman on earth has ever told me that before, I just had to believe her....

I don’t recall any thai guys sneaking a peek but can’t say that isn’t true for those women that always seem to be inside of the mens toilets cleaning! Had more than one sneaking a glance! I told one that now she has to marry me! Lol Not sure if she was more shocked with what I said or that I could say it in Thai! In my 55 years in the Kingdom (as a farang) I have met all kinds. I was the typical type in my young years but my Thai wife set me straight. The wife is gone so my daughter takes my infirm body whereever I need to go and she gets lots of strange looks. Stereotypes change slowly.

On my first visit I was guilty of giving older guys disapproving looks when I would see them with girls that were young. It was only later that I worked out they were parents with their children!
I’m an older single fellow ( divorced- been there; done that) and many “farangs”& Thais think I am looking for a Thai “girlfriend” or wife …Or assume I am married to a Thai woman. They all think it’s strange I am happy in my older age to not have a wife.
Hello pat, I'm the proud owner of heard of buffalo, my in-laws have died and been reincarnated several times over( I know it's a Buddhist thing) my brother in law has broken more legs than a centepide so their must be some truth in reincarnation. Here's another:- The qualifications of Thai doctors and dentists are not immediately recognised by UK regulatory authorities. The NHS makes these guys work in relatively menial jobs for years before granting recognition. Institutional prejudice or entirely reasonable? Probably a lot of both.
We were driving back from Kanchanaburi and we stopped at a roadside restaurant and I ordered grapow. A few minutes after I started eating, the waitress came over and started talking to my wife. It turned out that the waitress wanted to take my photo because she had never seen a westerner eat a Thai spicy dish. All the foreigners she had ever seen ordered bland dishes like chicken wings.

I was going to the 711 with our young beautiful Thai and my lovely little 2 year old daughter. We passed a table full of 60 something Aussie tourist couples. They obviously didn't know I was also an Aussie and naturally assumed this beautiful young lady was my little daughter mother. They made some offensive comments. I immediately insert a new ar#*%ole in them all and told them to behave themselves while in the LOS because people like me have to live here. And don't assume they are smarter ot better than the Thais. It felt great actually. Sick of being treated like a pedo by these idiots. Been here many years now--playing the game of 'snakes and ladders'. As you as you start to 'think' you are learning something and climbing the ladder --you then land on the snake and taken back down to 'start the game again! Hey Pat, from talking with my Thai wife, most Thai women don't want dark skin as it shows you are probably poor and have to work hard outside in the sun, probably in the rice field. I'm curious if you ever go up north of Thailand at all? Many great things you could do videos of the history in Chang Mai, Udon Thai, or even Nakhon Ratchasima (Korat). By the way, Isaan Thai women are the prettiest Thai women....lol!
The Foreigners are rich one is the most annoying for me. It's almost as if it excuses predatory and scamming behaviour. Even at the minor end of the scale where padding your bill is seen as acceptable. I always felt I should move to Thailand and start a Taxi meter repair business. It would clearly be a gold mine
@@SV-kr9fu I get that you're joking but that is a real rabbit hole. MacyD's by contract can only use Taylor ice cream machines. They are overly complicated with no Manuel's making them easy to mess up. This cospiracy is that is deliberately so because by contact they can only be serviced by Taylors at a vastly inflated price ($400 per 15 minutes according to a docu I watched on the subject)
The real stereotype with taxi meters etc is the typical farang that complains about paying less than $20 when it's a fixed fee no meter. For taxi to take him on a 45min trip across the city to another district at either 2am in morning or a hour trip in peak hour traffic. But forget that that type of trip would be $60 or more back home it the West because they do use a meter..
Sorry to say that I've seen that the stereotypes still persist in rural areas. My wife loves hot food but because she is Farang I always have to remind waiting staff and cooks to make food in the 'normal Thai way' - and I speak Thai well enough to make this clear. But we still sometimes get bland food, even after I have asked for the real thing! Of course thay don't want to create a situation with the many Farang tourists who really can't eat spicy food (often Europeans who haven't eaten real Thai food before, or is this a stereotype?) The foreigner entry fee at National Parks is annoying, especially for my Farang brother-in-law who has worked in Bangkok for years. His Thai girlfriend is embarrassed when he has to pay extra. He's a 'real' English teacher BTW. In Nakorn Ratchasima I overheard a Farang in a bar slagging off a Thai guy he had met who apparently never had to do much in his job. But the Farang - so proud of his hard work ethic - sat in the bar all night smoking g, chatting to the girls and other expat men, and (lucky him) enjoying his endless leisure time.

Maybe i'm in a minority of one, but this falage [whisper it] doesn't mind prices being higher for tourists. Think about it. Thailand people pay taxes that help towards all kinds of things, one being of course transport. Upkeap of roads, police service, etcetera.The tourist visitor pays nothing, so to me it doesn't seem so bad [particularly when you've enjoyed the hospitalty that Thailand offers, ] that you help the low paid workers who help to make your stay a pleasant one.
My view on dual pricing in Thailand: For museums and cultural sites, I have no problem with it. I make good money and can afford another dollar or three over a Thai. My reasoning is many Thais make very little money and they should be able to visit their own countries museums, etc. for a reasonable fee. For food or other items, i fully am against this. It is more of someone trying to take advantage of a foreigner than anything else IMO.
If your getting scammed by a cab driver and you're not massively intoxicated or impaired in some way basically that tells me you're like right off the cow farm my man. The problem with stereotypes, whichever person/culture is considering them against whomever, is that they often run headfirst into the old Don't Judge a Book By It's Cover reality. I'm one who finds people interesting, I wonder where they're from, what their life story is, how did they end up where they are in life now types, but still fall prey to stereotyping from time to time myself. Human nature even for those who intellectually know better.
LG&M - There's more to it than that - you're generalizing about generalizing - the culture here, in Thailand is unique they're, (the Thais), not communist nor are they 'international' people - even in Southeast Asia - there's an expression used by natives of the Philippines, Laos and Cambodia which transliterates to, 'don't go Thai on me'! There's a clue in the song from The King and I - 'We are Siamese if you please - and if you don't please'! Bangkok Pat has been here a long time; he knows the extent to which one can legitimately generalize re. Thais who live in Thailand - even though he's talking about how things are slowly changing, I could almost feel his restraint! The nation is very insular almost xenophobic, it's like a huge club of Thais e.g, they (Thais) don't need friends like we in the West do, their extended family structures are very, very strong and on top of that there's the huge Thai club backed up by all the Thai forces & institutions. All these notions like not judging a book by looking at the cover or 'everybody's equal regardless of their ethnicity or skin colour' are Western concepts - honest - live here for a few years and you'll know!
7:00 Those that have poor-paying outside work, like planting rice, will have dark skin because they are exposed to the sun. Those that have an indoor high-paying office job will have light skin. Skin colour in Thailand dictates to a potential partner whether of not you have money and therefore can support them. Note that this is different in western societies whereby dark skin can mean you go on overseas beach holidays to "work on your tan".
They don’t have dark skin because they work in the sun. They in fact have darker skin. An Isaan person working in a bank or Lotus or Global House is still going to have dark skin.
Tbh Pat, I've never been interested in Thai women, in my view Khmer and Laotian women are way nicer more honest and prettier, Cambodia has a way older culture which the Thai basically modelled their whole nation on
I think the biggest problem with us english is we think that were dam superiour to everone else, i can see how this can rub Thais up the wrong way and could lead to a altercation, i am pretty blunt speaking, but since ive been living with my Thai girl friend ive had to alter, now i surgest things, i try not to compare the UK with Thailand, but rather its a culteral differance, and its a slightly differant, other wise they find this offensive, i accept that i am a guest in Thailand, be polite, be apologetic, try to blend in, and should not go across the grain but go with it, and life so far has not gone wrong. what us forigners try to do is impose our country ethic on other countries, this is not the rite way to go about things.
Pat, I much prefer spending my time with Thais, not falangs,all Thais have a wicked sense of humour especially the Ladies,I never discriminate with Thai People if it's a Lady who works in a bar or talking to my local Dr I treat both with the same respect after all Thai culture is built on respect for others and If I go into any Thai establishment I always dress respectfully never talk out of turn and always use eye contact to start conversations,and I always make friends with all the staff because as you know akll establishments here are run on a family basis,Thais are the easiest friendliest people to get on with if you know the Rules and when they realise you do they treat ou a lot differently.
I do hate the way farang think all Thai women can be bought, its disgusting and when these guys do meet a girl they like they inevitably crash and burn in their attempts to woo them. I know a few guys like this, I have tried to explain that they should treat the Thai girls with the exact same respect they would one back home if they want to succeed but it falls on deaf ears. I have been with my wife for ten years, there is absolutely no difference in what she expects from a partner than what my western girlfriends have expected, it would seem very obvious but they just don't get it.

Foreigners receive a good dose of racism throughout Asia. We often read about discrimination and racism in western countries. This is a big topic. You need to live in Asia to understand racism is far worse here.
I don't know if you can call it a stereo type but when Thai people always ask me if my wife is from Isaan with like a kind of a looking down way/body language but when I say she's from Suphanburi their body language completely changes!
I prefer Thai women with Darker skin. I have very white skin and have all of my life, I can tan but I'm rarely outdoors. I get compliments from Thais for my white skin.
The world is full of stereotypes. Thankfully, as we become more globalised, those same stereotypes will gradually be broken down. Especially as countries such as Thailand become more wealthy. With regard to spicy food, we have 3 levels in my house, hot, medium, and white boy hot (mild). Yes, I am the white boy who can't handle it spicy.
Great video mate 😂 some comments I’d make - there are some truths to them based in averages 😝😎 On being ‘rich’ that is certainly still an assumption even with younger more educated Thais and tbh, if you earn a good western wage you can enjoy the hi-so life temporarily on a vacation (compared to most Thais). The all western men are sex tourists; that mirrors a western thing that people think all Thai wives came from a bar or are 20yrs younger than the husband. Unfortunately many people have aware of the ‘dirty middle aged chap’ at work who ‘holidays’ in Pattaya so Thai or Philippine women are often judged differently to Korean or Japanese wives.

In Vietnam you sometimes catch guys peering over the barrier in between urinals, most of them not even hiding it. At restaurants, malls, bus stations. Any changing room situation like at the pool has to be navigated carefully.
I retired early from the UK, I am married to a well educated Thai, a teacher, i have taught English Communication to Thai students non of whom showed any prejudice, racism or disrespect. The only prejudice i have seen comes from a small number of older, Isaan Thai women who definitely look down their noses at my wife and I together. I did get wound up over social injustice and corruption here, its dragging Thailand down BUT seeing the self interested government shambles in Britain i no longer assume it is a Thai fault alone.

I would like to see videos covering the airports and also the model airplane situation around Bangkok. I heard there is a shop with fuel for models in the Don Muang area but have never investigated. Also I used to frequent the automobile junk yards in Los Angeles California for parts. The only junk yard I ever found is at Nakon Chai Si on Phetkasem Road. I also have seen that the police have impound yards for motorbikes. More informantion on any of this would be interesting. was at a popular tourist food place in ko tao recently that serves duck noodles and duck soup. i got the noodle soup and i started eating it and realized it tasted so bland. i was like wait.. whats missing. it then dawned on me - i called the waiter and asked for the whole spice set.

Great channel I've been here 10 years teaching in really good schools in 2 provinces. Unfortunately it saddens me to see that most farrang are still coming here with the same old attitudes. Luckily I have managed to stay in a place for long enough for local people to get to know me better. It definitely helps with being happy where you are living and bad behavior is still frowned upon. Rightly so. I fully understand Thai peoples reckoning towards foreigners even though it's not always true. I don't think it's going to change anytime soon either. So sad most foreigners either can't change their attitudes or can't behave.
Sometimes I think I must be on a lucky streak of happenstance because I can travel around Thailand and SE Asia and rarely see foreigners who match these drunhkenh sexpat lout descriptions. I also believe there are far less of them every year HOWEVER, wow did I find a clump of these types once. A whole area full of what seemed 'Cartoonish' British Louts, old pug-faced loudmouths braying like bosses, lunging around half-crocked, talking about who was the the toughest doormen back home, Right blcka wockka Blackka WOTT and cannot get over the amazing win that is a prostitute bar and overtipping like champion kings ughhhh. Really, it was like a 'Little Britain' character multiplied 1000 times and were just bulling around barking and instructing and getting 'fighty' over football crews and who be da tuffest .... ok oky.. i need to shake it off. Overall, these clumps aside, I meet a lot of different types but rarely the actual stereotype ones. This could be me having just some lucky circles in life and I suppose I'm not in those circles so I just don't run into them.

I would like to say your channel probably is one of best, love your honesty and straight talking attitude, unlike many of the other western Thailand you tubers which are just totally bollocks. They seem been millions of western you tuber in Thailand now, all seem to be making content that going get the most clicks, so Kardashian !!! in order for them stay in Thailand. From my experience foreigners are great moaner and pushing are western way on to others, personally I stay away from fellow western when in Thailand for many reason, been billy no mates can be good thing in some places. My wife as dark skins and we always had issues more so back in her home of Nakhon Sawan, However the racism was worse in England especially with been Thai, man thinking she was easy and just disgusting racism which made it very difficult for us to live in England. I love Thailand but think it spoilt it self by adopting westing culture too much and letting many westerns have there moaning way. duel prices I personally don't have problem with it, Thailand not my country so I need to pay, I think great that the Thai government do thing like this to support the Thai people and culture. Anytime there is two tier pricing is going to leave a feeling in your head you are being scammed. I remember I was connecting in from Odessa to Istanbul to Chicago. In Istanbul even though I had a two hour layover THey charged me me $500.00a two hour layover and the people from Ukraine $2.00. I threw my hands up in the sky and pointed towards where they only charged the Ukrainians $2.00 and said I know what you are doing to me and you know what you are doing to me
