Well done for putting in the effort to polish your skills so you can tell the story without cuts between every sentence. That trend is ruining a lot of RU-vid channels these days.
"So much for the golden future, he can't even start. He had every promise broken, there's anger in his heart. You don't know what it's like, you don't have a clue. If you did you'd find yourselves doing the same thing. Breaking the law, breaking the law, breaking the law, breaking the law"
Many bad dudes I knew of back home escaped their life and came to South East Asia. Some apparently on fake passports. Never argue with anyone here, farang or local. Responsible and respectful thing to do but also self-preservation. They're are a lot of connected Westerners in Thailand. You never know who the guy seated next to you is. Even in small northern villages staying low.
So true you never know who you are the company of,as they say (i gave him an offer he could not refuse) heavy men get old,but still have the power to pull many strings, beware of the old frail man in the corner of the bar😊
Messy life He just spoiled his life. So strange how people live their lives carelessly. Love Thailand. Love Thai girls But anywhere you go there are bad people in the community. Tkx for sharing the story. P.S as soon as you put drugs in your system😢😢😢 your not 'YOU' anymore. Stay away from drugs. Life is good specially in Thailand ❤❤❤👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼🍺🍺🍺🍺
Another great video! An interview with Chris now would be interesting. He seems like one of those guys who thinks he's always the smartest guy in the room.
Nice one Pat. I like the "vintage" footage featuring Big Joke. On an aside, any idea how Hakparn went from being given the arse, to now back harassing foreigners? Must have a powerful patron and it isn't Uncle Prayuth...
Thanks Pat. Amazing video. Just found you and subscribed from the interview you did with Peter from Thailand Bound. Also I am interested in touring with you like you were talking about in the interview
@@BangkokPat not at all. I can see that I phrased my comment badly. I was intending to tease you as an English teacher for the slip but I can see it came over as rude instead. Sorry mate
So familiar. You could be talking about people I know. It's a small world. This ending is unusual. My money was on one of the many possible alternative endings.
A fun story of living on the fringe :D I'm probably of 1 generation younger and this is definitely not how I would imagine moving abroad to teach English entails.
Have you come across Red Bamboo by Kukrit Pramoj? I haven't yet - but apparently it's adapted from the lovely Don Camillo stories by Giovanni Guareschi, that the BBC did well in the early '80s.
Chris is a mixed race man like me and he obviously suffers from generational trauma.I will finish the story when I have time.I just signed a fighter to a big time contract and I need to make my payroll with him. So he can pay his school fees for elementary school....I'm in Nigeria
I hope he is ok ,I had same problem i use to drive up and down outside keebab shops in rochdale and heywood. I got caught ,But the the guys working in the keebab shop got me a passport and sent me to Rotherham then CID spotted me in Rotherham So i had to go to Bradford ,now im in Blackburn going Bolton soon loads off keebab shops .
Wow, this story makes me feel like a timid old fuddy duddy! I been back and forth between the US and Thailand quite a bit in the last 25 years, but I can tell that the best arrangement is for me to make my money in USD and then go spend it as THB. I am not an investor, and the last thing I want to do is owe money to a Thai lawyer!
It was very entertaining and I really like the excellent quality of the editing, mixing scenes from Bangkok, Pattaya and London in the 90's...Looking forward to your next chapter!
Dont think he deserved to get a 13 stretch ...hes just like a lot of other young "over inflated ego" blokes but fckd up ! If hed handed himself in when it happened he'd be doing half that time 🤷
Great story Pat, unfortunately young men often make stupid mistakes and the consequences can be life changing. Hopefully someone will see this and stop and think before they to do something stupid and ruin their life.
Back in the day early 1990s, I used to drink at a well-known bar on Sukhumvit 11. A regular German boozer ( call him Fritz) there had a rich daddy. Daddy's went bust so Fritz started to smuggle drugs into Thailand with his Thai girl. She got busted on a drug run and in order for her not to get the death penalty he admitted to owning half the haul so that her sentence was reduced to life. He got life too and is probably still in Bang Kwang. I admire him for saving her life. He was a decent bloke who just did not know how to et a proper job. Thanks for telling this story about Chris.
Great story telling talent there, Pat!! You kept me watching for over twenty minutes, which is not an easy task 😅. Look forward to more! I’m curious what’s Chris up to now? Any ideas? Should he be out of jail?
good story , well told plus the humour ..... I personally think you have a future and will go a long way Mr Spielburg ( but the younger version ) 55555. ........... top job once again
Fact is when u run ur life in wrong lane, u will 100% meet an accident. Thailand is heaven for so many people, who is living good life n even lavish life with proper business.
This was very enjoyable indeed! Having been down the same road when I was in my late 20's into my early 30's (minus the drug smuggling and running from the law), it's all too common to meet other young Thailand based farang that think they can just swoop on in to magically become a bar/nightclub owner with their 'trusted Thai business partner'. Things more often than not don't go to plan! Great video mate.
My stories are much more riveting than those scam stories and I add visuals to help the story. Those Lumpini Park cats are well fed. No rats in that park, that's the lizards job!
Did this guy use to work behind the scenes at the BBC or other TV channel or something? He seems to know how to make proper television. This is really well done.
Chris is very lucky to have survived. Thanks for the C. Moore recommendation. While I'm waiting to travel to Bangkok, I will start reading his books, starting with "Spirit House".
You are a very polished and professional storyteller who understands using the latest video bells and whistles. Based on so many other channels I've seen and their sub counts, you deserve at least 10 times as many subs as you have today. Great luck in growing the channel...
Quite the story there Pat. You had me feeling a little anxious a couple of times 😅. Several parts of that story have happened to countless Farangs over the years.
Great storytelling is a rare ability. As we all tell stories, it is sometimes difficult to pinpoint why storytelling is a difficult art to master. Pat has told this true crime story well with all of its twist and turns, and edgy, dodgy characters. The key is to involve the viewer/listener/reader in the story. Pat does this exceptionally well. With this video Pat joins the noir crime storytellers in Thailand and elsewhere. I look forward to watching future stories set in Thailand unfold in Pat's capable hands.
Good storytelling about one of a long list of sad lazy plebs drug smuggling and lying instead of working for a living, brought up on a council estate etc, no excuse, he should be serving 30 yrs in Thailand and 30 in the U.K.
Wow a lot of work went into this entertainment thanks. I also like that you're the only RU-vidr to pronounce PAT-taya rather than Patt-AY-a although i thought Thais give equal emphasis PAT-TAY-YA...
Despite ending up in area 52 or some bar do realm surrounded by demons and film makers even if in hell i can burn away and i wont run out of nam jai I am tapped right into Scott island Antarctica
A++ So Chris must have been released out of prison now. I ask myself where he is now and what does and if sleeps well (one big luxery in life). Will he get visa for Thailand again ?
Ya know what Pat? I am addicted to your videos. Started watching your back catalogue of brilliantly researched and informative episodes since last week and must have watched 50 of them now. Your knowledge of Bangkok and the way you deliver each subject you're discussing is far beyond anything i have witnessed on RU-vid so far. If you have any free time in October/November I am visiting the Mrs in Chiang Mai. You are more than welcome to come up and be our guests or you can come next year once we move into our own gaff. I will show you round what i believe to be my city and then you will show me how much you know it much better than me. Keep up the good work man, so glad i stumbled across your documentaries. They are seriously fascinating to listen to. And this story was no exception. You should write a novel mate. 😊
Thanks for the kind words and glad you're catching up on the videos mate. I don't know Chiang Mai well, only from videos by Chai Travel and Bill's Unseen in Thailand channel! Was there last in 2001!!
Just run both videos and split the screen when editing, I use Movavi. I film both parts in one take so the camera is in one position all the time. Of course getting the dialogue timing is key when making it a conversation, that takes a long time!! Cheers!
What goes around comes around!!!!!! Really interesting story Pat and the twist at the end . Be careful who you wrong in life because you never know . These new vlogs your doing like breaking news are great Pat and add even more to your channel 👏👏👏
Wow what a great video and story, must have taken a lot of time and effort … It’s great to have such a professional channel about Thailand … there’s a lot of rubbish out there.
I don’t understand why he ran from the club? If he was a bouncer there and got into a fight where someone was seriously injured he shouldn’t be held accountable especially if the other guy was the initial aggressor. At least that’s how it is in the States. I lived in London in 1998 and I thought that it worked the same way.
