I think the fact TJ got caught for EPO is one of the reasons fans seem so unwilling to forgive or treat it like a one time thing. You don't just start taking EPO, you need to be using it for a few months to get a serious benefit for it.
Its my personal rule that even if youre my favorite fighter, if you miss weight, I root against you for that fight. If you pop for PEDs, I root against you forever.
@@jacksdad734 totally agree, combat sports are the worst for sucking up to ped cheats where its easily the most dangerous. athletics, cycling, both just dismiss anything to do with ped users
@@jacksdad734 I agree. I don't understand how Jon Jones is a multiple time offender for using steroids and a multitude of other crimes but he isn't shunned from the sport like lance Armstrong was from biking
I can't take this RU-vid channel serious because everytime they predict someone to win they end up losing and then act like they never said the opposite
silva beat jake, he won more rounds. that single knockdown doesnt undo all the other rounds, and with silvas chin now a days its insane he didnt get knocked out so that shows how good he did
Honestly, Hendricks didn't seem like a "weight cut" problem per say. Usada showed up, and suddenly Hendricks couldn't make weight or win a fight. He also wouldn't get tested with gsp. His legacy is one of a cheater in my eyes at least.
came here to say exactly this. very surprised they said it was a weight cutting issue and even more surprised that your comment doesn't have more likes.
I'd say bad management/coaches would be a major pitfall. Look at Ronda Rousey. She got it in her head by her coach she could box when she was a submission specialist. When she went against actual strikers, she got knocked the hell out. Another is Diego Sanchez getting with that farce of a manager.
Pretty much. She had zero striking game, but phenomenal ground game. Any competent manager would've told her to keep up the ground game while picking up striking to a good level.
Its because for some reason people are still not ready to accept that Jake is more than a youtuber. Dude been training boxing since the Deji but people too blinded by hate to see how much he's been improving with each fight
@@marseanbostic3377 i don't care if he is improving, Anyone that says otherwise is just blinded by hatred lol But I just dislike the 2 of them (Paul Bros)
When you’re a 48 year old legend with nothing to prove and you’re fighting some RU-vid kid whose best opponent is Tyron The Frozen One Woodley and you lose, yeah that’s a downfall
I don’t care what anyone says anderson silva didn’t ruin his career. He just loves fighting. That’s why he was so great in his prime. Just like Roy jones jr
The fact you say you don't care just shows you don't care about facts. Anderson did tarnish his legacy, its not even debatable at this point. Popping for roids and racking up consecutive losses in the twilight of his career will hurt his place in the GOAT conversation. In his prime Anderson was widely considered the MMA GOAT, today almost everyone puts GSP ahead of him when back in Anderson's day, it would have been considered a laughable proposition because Anderson finished fights and GSP did not. The loss to Jake Paul doesn't hurt his legacy that much because Jake is a much better boxer then he's given credit for, and Anderson at 47 years of age gave Jake (who is almost half Anderson's age) a tough fight. Its not nearly as bad as when Tyron Woodley got flatlined by Paul.
Roy Jones was never accused of PEDs 🤔 he just lost his speed as he got older, which was his style. Anderson, unlike GSP was always arrogant on top of his drug use and got wrecked for 5+years
@@kylekimosabi2062 what year do you live in? Is it 2015, aka the same year the first movie came out where Donnie lost his first match by decision like Rocky in his movie.
@@RomaroBrandon that wasn’t Rocky, or Creeds first fight, creed was an undefeated club boxer in Mexico that worked in an office in LA, Rocky was a journeyman boxer fighting drunk for scraps in Philly, im not saying there isn’t similarities, but it would get annoying to follow the same story would it not?
"Was surpassed by far more efficient and comprehensive techniques." That being Frank Shamrock his brother, that guy is the OG (original GOAT) and he doesn't get the respect he deserves
It is always surprising to me that so many fans refuse to recognize that most fighters (and professional athletes) are using PEDs. The ones that get caught are just that, the ones getting caught. Doesn't mean that the rest don't do the same, they are just better at disguising their use or are luckier with random testing.
@@nashbullet3213 Yeah some ppl have a warped perspective from years of demonizing the practice. The athletes' livelihood and legacy are on the line, of course they will look for ways to gain an edge.
Pitfalls are things you don't see coming. More than a few on this list made choices that sped up the end of their careers if not ruined them altogether.
Number 5 is one of the most frustrating aspects of the sport atm. I wanna see the best fighters fight the best fighters to get to a title shot, not the best shit talkers running their mouths to get up the rankings. May as well just dump the rankings all together and introduce a fan voting system or some shit.
Another one is an elite rival. DC and Valentina would easily be considered among the GOATs if they didnt have the actual GOATs in their way keeping them from reaching it. Both would be legit 2-division champs with no real competition.
Big rig failed to make weight because the team lack real experts on it, they are college wrestling coaches that build a team around hendricks in terms of combat, and was regularly rehydrating him through IV. Once USADA came in and IV was banned, the man was dead in the water.
"Pitfalls that ruined fighters careers" While having Anderson Silva in the thumbnail... You're a clown for that. Silva will always be a legend, and jake paul will never have a legacy as great as silvas. One boxing match and you disrespect a legend for clickbait.
I don't think Silva and Jake should be up here. People are still calling dude a youtube/disney boxer despite training in it for years now. I can understand why Jake is starting to get a bit frustrated 😅
Agreed. The fact Anderson went the distance with Jake (who is a better boxer then he is given credit for) doesn't hurt his legacy all that much, especially since Anderson is almost double Jake's age and it was a fun fight. Can't say the same for Tyron, who made it a snooze-fest and got flatlined in the process.
Even though he didn't even make it to the fight to begin with. Dillon Danis should be on a part 2 of this list since he pulled out of fighting KSI like last minute
Please don't let Bayliun do 3 videos in a row ever again. I'd prefer he quits all together but please no more of that. How much do I have to donate for you to fire him? How many Jocko fuels do I need to buy with your code? Please tell me.
Jones using the alcohol as an excuse for an excuse, he didint get drunk to say that was the reason he just thought it would sound better to say than he just wasn't upto par 🤦. Face it you fucked up don't make excuses 🤷🏼♂️😂
Bruh. I saw the promo where rk bro was reformed and thought is that Matt? No way and then completely forgot about it. That was Matt XD. I have been out of touch with WWE for a minute.
Telling the story of the Johnny Hendricks decline without mentioning that it literally coincided with the implementation of USADA testing seems slightly disingenuous, my guy.
You definitely should have added the Sam Kinison clip during entry 5 where Sam implores women to " tell us what you want , we will do it " It would have been so apropos imo 8:00 ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-vTT34o3QKQY.html
I don't care about whose in the fights i only care about the fights themselves, so "career advocacy" isn't a pitfall winning fights is all that matters so why do people care about who they call out or what interviews you get? They're athletes i want to see them compete in a sport they're not actors begging me to see the next marvel movie i will be ignoring
Kicking a fighter out for weed is hypocritical especially in a state where it's legalized for recreational use. In Vegas it used to be a 20 year prison sentence for the possession of a single joint.
Rocky 3 was a good title but you could also call it the Allen Iverson conundrum. Athletes who get to an elite level then say fuck it to practice not realizing you need to work twice as hard to stay on top.
In my book anyone who loses to the pauls doesnt really tarnish their career. If anything its the opposite, hadnt fought for ages and cashed to secure generational wealth sure "the spider" might have lost a few fans but he did something bigger them himself and his fight record. He has 0 interest in boxing and its all about generational wealth.
Taking points off your own reputation to secure your families family future and so on is respectable. If dana paid them a bit more we wouldnt see p4p's cashing in a decade after their career.
Jon Jones saying he got drunk before a fight doesn't mean he actually did it. Remember who this guy is. He doesn't have two true statements in his life to rub together to make a third. Him saying he would get drunk beforehand is a way to brag, and say, "I accomplished all I did while not even trying hard."
When in the USADA pool, fighters should have their weight regularly documented. Then when training for a fight, they should be held to a specific limit of much weight they are allowed to cut down to their weight class. For example if all year you average around 215, you should not be allowed to cut anymore than 20 lbs a couple weeks before the fight. Problem solved and now it's more fair for everyone
Paddy’s issue is two fold he thinks he’s far better than he is and dosnt look like he’s improving very much as he keeps just saying he’s had a bad performance and next time he’ll show us who he really is, and his over eating clearly effects his cardio and conditioning because of the weight cutting
The most I ever cut was about 4 pounds and I was almost always stronger than the kids I wrestled even though most of them walked around heavier. I think it's an imaginary advantage in a lot of cases, and I saw a lot of guys throw their metabolism out of wack
Anthony Cruz, Size matters, big time, especially when it is minute differences separating two fighters, who are among the best in the world. Having an extra 10, 15, or even more pounds on your opponent is a big advantage. If you can do a properly disciplined weight cut, and are going in against someone who doesn't cut, you have a big leg up. Problem is that cutting weight through dehydration will always be dangerous, and that many guys lack the discipline to do it somewhat safely, leading to the disastrous weight cuts. I have always wished weight cutting wasn't a thing, because it just makes shit way more dangerous, especially when you consider the brain contains a ton of your body's water. I don't know how you could stop it though... even if you weighed guys say 2 hours before a fight, guys would just go more extreme and try to rehydrate on even sketchier time frames... inevitably leading to even more dangerous situations. Only way to accomplish anything close would be to have some kind of maximum walk around weight that you checked on, which would be laborious.
Well as a Brazilian i can say that at least to us Anderson didn't ruined his legacy, basically nobody cares if he lost to Jake Paul he's 48 years old what he did before it's DONE nothing can erase he is the best middleweight of this sport history
Anderson legacy was ruined with the 2nd failed drug test same as Jones. First time I give someone the benefit of the doubt unless it’s like TJ and you can’t have a tainted supplement. But let’s not act like the Paul fight wasn’t just a paycheck they were dancing together to MJ before the fight that wasn’t legit
It would be sweet to see that preteen Disney idol fight someone closer to his age that hasn't had a career full of wars. I thinking he might have a bit harder time dealing with a actual boxer that's not 15-20 year older than him.
I think fans who are less interested in the sport believe that losing fights after their prime ruins their legacy. Anderson sucks now and that’s normal but you will never be able to take away what he did.
Fighters are their own biggest enemies, while anderson has always been a commendable and outstanding striker i had a feeling that he was gonna loose cus hes a 'striker' not a 'Boxer' plus the age and everything idk why he did that to himself but lets hope it was worth it cus if i were him id prolly go into maniac depression if i lost to someone like Paul😂
