The last year of my life has been a journey into the mystery of meditation. Now, I begin my first ever Zazenkai - a 12-hour day of zazen meditation. This was one of the most memorable days of my life, and I really hope you enjoy the episode.
I'll see you for part two.

I do remembre when I was around 19-20 years old I started meditating after watching a video from acharya shree yogeesh on RU-vid. But at some point as I continued with it, I got scared of it. Because you could easily lose yourself in it, to the point you feel disconnected from everyone. Now I turned 29 today, you are sparking back the light to do it more often. Because in the end, its part of why we are here too. To be, to experience, and to discover. I do follow Taosim, and that's also what they taught us too.

WWWOOOWWWW!! I cant wait for the second part! Iv experienced everything you have talked about and I actually stoped meditating when I started to experience the derealization and the existential completeness. I just did not have anyone to talk or any one to go to for guidance/answers and things seemed like they were progressing into something unhealthy. Maybe you will be able to provide answers to my questions after all this time.

THIS WAS JUST AMAZING ! like, I started meditating around 3months ago, and I can never sit for more that 1.5hrs, and you said you meditate for 10-12 whole hours !! that just blew my mind....like, how !?!.....and this method in which you meditated is there in the VBT, but I have just read it once, and still not very clear about which ones will I do, bcoz there are around 112 techniques of meditation and its confusing at times, anyways you're incredible !! all the best !
@State-Of-Mind

ayy thanks sm, zazen is definitely my favorite style having tried it so much but it's also very beginner friendly (i think) since meditating with open eyes makes post meditation not too different from meditation at times. there's also a lot of Soto Zen temples in big cities so i'd see if there's one near where you live:)

I'm surprised they didn't offer you a chair or show you how to sit on the zabutan like a bicycle with your knees on the mat. "Suffering" through the Lotus position is not the point. Yogis who use this method are EXTREMELY flexible and do not suffer discomfort when sitting. I couldn't have sat through my Zazenkais in full, half or any lotus. Close to impossible and partially defeats the purpose. The Buddha taught the Middle Way where extreme asceticism was deemed unessesary and counter productive. I highly recommend trying Zazen in a chair or on a zabutan but without your legs crossed. Westerners usually can't comfortably sit cross legged for long periods unlike many peoples in the East and around the globe. The point is to sit with "yourself" concentrating on your hara, allowing thoughts to arise, acknowledge them, letting them go... and returning to your breath. Practicing impermanence, letting go and being present in the moment. It's the only time we get to sit with ourselves and be quiet and listen to what comes up and instead of latching on and feeding these thoughts we let it go and return to our center. Clearing the stage and wiping the slate clean... I like your work. 🙏🏼 Great Film 🎥 making 👌 If you're ever in NYC Brooklyn I highly recommend the Fire Lotus Zendo/Zen Centre of New York City and their monastery in upstate NY at Mt Tremper, the Mountains and Rivers Order or the Zen Mountain Monastery, As well as Hermitage Heart in NC with Bonnie Treace Myotai Sensai ❤ (Remember, this is NOT Christianity where you have to suffer for your sins to be redeemed and experience some kind of enlightenment. The Buddha sitting in full lotus in statuary representations is merely a device to convey an idea to the illiterate masses, it's not instructional. Beings portrayed this way in Indian art are meant to be seen as wise sages trained in yoga 🧘‍♀️ who are enlightened. It's just a visual representation of the foundation of their practice which is their meditation that they inherited from the Yogis.)

Have you heard of vipassana meditation. In India, we have these “vipassana dhammas” where you can go and take part in the meditation course for 10 days. The meditation is the only thing you do throughout the day and you are not allowed to speak throughout the course of the 10 days. P.S: Just discovered your channel and finding your content really freaking interesting.
