I'm 40 now (married 20 years)and I can guarantee you your advice is correct. All the guys I thought were so very good looking are not anymore. Some have retained a little of their looks but not like I thought they would. The men who were good and descent christian men have been a source of strength and comfort and pride to their wives and children. I was very lucky to receive this same advice from an older lady in our congregation when I was a teenager and was lucky that I was able to prevent myself from wrapping my self esteem up in a boy or judge them on such a filmsy basis as looks. I am so happy I didn't because with all the things life has thrown at my husband and I looks could not have comforted me or taken care of me.

I just love how I'm watching all of your relationship/dating videos and I've never actually done either of those.

I just found your RU-vid channel and I absolutely love everything you have to say! It's so refreshing to hear someone speak the truth about God and who we are in Him. Love this video and I couldn't agree more. It's encouraging to see your perspective on this, especially because there are so many girls who I've seen go extreme and give up everything for guys only to be heartbroken. This has changed my look on my situation. I just found this you tube channel and Like Katie i also have never been on a date or had a girlfriend. I am 15 (about to be 16 ) And i play basketball and football and i always thought , because i didn't have much time i couldn't have a girl friend but when i saw these videos I realized that maybe the reason i don't have one is because of 2 main reasons, one being maybe it's not in gods plan for me to a girl friend and that not having one opens up so many opportunities for other things but now i feel a hole lot better about it and am kinda happy about it. I just would like to say.. I'm so glad there is actually a youtuber that's a Christian! I mean I love a lot of youtubers regardless. I'm just glad there is one (You) and they aren't afraid to show it. cause if the youtubers I watch are Christians then they never say a word about it., on another note: I've been wanting to make videos and stuff for a while. and I knew the only 3 things I'm good. number 1, Dancing (but I'm not a good choreographer). number 2, watching tv and being lazy (only thing I could do with that is make review videos and why would they wanna hear someone talk about a movie or show when they can watch it their self?) and number 3. my faith in Jesus Christ. so I could give out short messages and encouragement and just share the faith. but one problem. I have no idea how to make a good video. what advice would you give me to start making videos?

What are relationship goal tweets? I'm not on twitter. I'm 28 and engaged. And every time I read/ hear/ watch stuff with teens and dating (I'm looking at you Divergent, Infernal devices, Matched, Buffy the Vampire Slayer ect.) I'm so grateful for my fiancé. I had two serious relationships before now; one in high school and one is college. The high school one is my one serious regret in life. I did learn something really valuable from that one though: You can't fix another person. Don't date a guy because you feel sorry for him. Such a bad idea. Anyway. Great video Katie.

Hi Katie , I agree with you about not being overexcited about guys smiling at you. I have learnt this the hard way.I gave away my feelings to this guy I thought , loved me according to my understanding. I was so hurt and disappointed when I found out he is married. I have learnt to seek friendship and not let feelings lead me. Feelings can lead you astray but your brain doesn't. I'm learning to take my time in deciding about relationships. This Tuesday 10/13, I'm letting a gal from my church know I have feelings for her and want to pursue her. :) My last relationship 'was' one-sided and was pure emotional hell. Made a lot of mistakes and learned invaluable lessons. 1) God. First. It's next to impossible to squeeze God into your relationship as an afterthought and it will lead to regret. 2) Reread number 1. Anyways, I consider the girl in question a friend and she was in a bad relationship. I caught wind of what was going on and found myself jealous and thinking "she should leave him and be with me." (btw, I'm never jealous over other people in relationships. So this was new.) So I prayed about it and the next Sunday I talked to her dad and told him my exact thoughts and asked what he thought of me telling her. He let me know that the family had talked it out and she'd be ending it soon, and he suggested I should wait and let her close this chapter. I'm glad I asked and listened. I've had time to really pray, asses, and listen. I'm hoping that in 15 days at this time I'll be taking her out ballroom dancing. :)

I believe that a third trait is to be Kind. I know kindness isn't very common and is usually coupled with character, but it's still it's own category. I know that the person I'll fall for will have to be kind.
