I'm looking at the EX hatchback for my baby on the way. Not a fan of manual gearbox for the daily driver (super annoying in heavy traffic, plus spouse wouldn't be able to borrow the car) so I'm going with the auto. The real problem is availability, local dealers don't have any. I have less than 9 months to get one. I refuse to pay over MSRP.

I used to hate cvt's now own one, however what I don't like about Honda's is it doesn't simulate gear shifts. Heavy acceleration becomes so droney, I really hate that. In the looks department nothing special. I really miss the old 96-00 Civics!
@FantomLightning
@FantomLightning 2 года назад
That's the best way to do a CVT, if you put in artificial shifts you slow things down and take the engine out of the powerband which completely negates the purpose of a CVT. I wish Nissan would drop the fake shifts they've added in.
@incheon

@@FantomLightning Yes that's true, however I just can't stand that drone. Personal preference I suppose.

My Lancer with a CVT also doesn't fake shift, unless I use the paddle shift with manual mode for 6 fixed ratios, that's fun and useful on switch back roads to keep engine in power band. Tbh I actually like that it doesn't fake shift in normal mode cause this to me is smoother, and gets up to speed quickly than the 4 speed autos I had before. And the engine stays at lower revs (less than 2k rpm at 120 km/h) in cruising. If I wanted no CVT then I would rather have 6 speed automatic in an econobox (Mazda provide this thankfully, only one with right gear ratios for a 4 cylinder).

In my opinion the 8 and 10 gen. are the most beautiful Civics ever made, but is undeniable the qualities of this generation, without considering it's design

I think it looks a lot like the last generation accord.. and that’s fine with me.. Honda design over the years always goes back and forth with conservative to over the top and back and forth...

@@brianreardon7700 Yes, and despite design is conservative or not, Honda are the best! Cheap, fun, safe and reliable!

Computer tablet should be integrated into the dash like Porsche. Someday they might be banned as blocking view and distracting driver. Local dealer has note on 2022 Civics saying PLUS $2500 "dealer adjustment"

As a 2012 Civic EXL owner myself , im a Honda fan . The new one looks good indeed, but I prefer the raked back windshield and S2000 like digital gauge cluster of the 2012-15 bodystyle. The CVT automatic in the new ones may not hold up as good as the traditional automatics that 2012 and older models had imo. But the new one still appears to be a great, capable Civic overall .

As an owner of a 2016 Civic Touring since new, I do like this new version. However, the inconsistent front gap of the hood is annoying and it’s amplified more in light colours.

Sucks when 2 door coupes are dropped from the line up. Not everyone wants/needs a 4 door. When Honda last had the beautiful 2 door Accords & 2 door Civics those models had no marketing promotion whatsoever and few buyers knew they even existed, so of course sales were light. Is it that difficult to offer a coupe? Apparently not so in the past.
