@@SKULLCRUSHER659 those were some terrible years. Majority of that especially for sonatas were the models that had little experience being made in America which only started in mid 2000s. Those were from the early weak gdi design and manufacturing that happened in America which is why I’m glad I only had Korean made Hyundais even my old Elantra from 05 didn’t give me any engine or other issue and it was made in Korea many were made in America especially the sonata after that.

Just gotta show around and be willing to buy out of state. I have a 2021 type r.. I feel our cars (type r and sti) have way better track potential, tuning potential and better ride quality.. this is a step for Hyundai but at the end of the day the STI rules the rally and type r rules the track. Subaru has better drive train and reliability.. (head gaskets only go due to bad tuning or pushing car beyond what it can do) and the civic still hold up with 400hp with a simple flash. With a price point of 32-33k i believe the 8k more for sti or type r financed over 5 years will not break the bank on monthly payments and our cars will still turn heads.. cant beat the subie rumble with any 4cly... and the type r has better body lines than elantra.. im not worried about the competition trying to pass our vehicles. We have drivers cars for the driving enthusiasts.. the elantra will never hold up to our cars

Subaru needs new management and a new lineup. They could of cornered the turner market by now but just want to sell basic ass super safe boring cars. Like why is the imprez and STI versions the same, they should be much more different under the skin. Imagine if STI made a Yaris GR and how great that would be and how well it would sell (the Yaris GR sold out). According to Hyundai, it's the opposite. In the N-Line, they had an unused blank, so they repurposed it for the sport button. In this car, the sport buttons had a different spot so they went back to having a blank again. The "official" reasons for this bizarre panel are as I said in the video. Okay, I definitely disagree with Doug in terms of handling. AWD doesn’t always improves the way it drives. I work for a Chrysler and Hyundai dealer and I love what Hyundai does as an automotive industry! Their cars are amazing, the warranty is amazing (so even if you have doubts about Hyundai reliability the warranty makes it so much better) they take great care of their customers (granted dealerships ruin that with the high market adjustments) but their rebates are usually awesome, they have the safest vehicle on the market for all their models, and the design of their cars is so impressive! plus we definitely sell way more Hyundais then Chrysler products. I absolutely love Hyundai and yes it’s because I work for them but it’s because I’ve been able to see so much about them. That is what made me fall for them!

I live in a snowy climate, I really wanted a WRX, and I STILL put one of these on order instead. The Elantra N just ticks more boxes. All the HVAC controls are physical, there's no oversized vertical screen that looks like a Leap Pad from 2002, it looks way better outside, and I can't argue with the warranty. Also, I have driven FWD (and RWD) cars through many winters so I feel AWD is more of a luxury than a necessity where I live. Edit: actually I really wanted an Evo, but since those aren't made anymore I naturally figured the WRX was next in line.

After driving many FWD/RWD and AWD cars in Canada, I fully disagree. AWD is almost mandatory, while winter tyres technically are mandatory. With the Veloster N, you can barely put all the power down in the summer with good tyres, never mind in snow. Point being, the WRX and the Elantra N are not even in the same class. The WRX is in the same class(In my mind and based on drivetrain, power and size) as the 328 xdrive and the A4 quattro.

A great video, but I have one complaint: You actually can do two things at once on the screen in Hyundai Gen5 Infotainment systems. There is a little arrow on the right side of the screen where you can activate a split screen. I think i have seen the button with the arrow in this video at 13:44 when you pull up the map. It gives you a ton of features and comfort. When the split screen is aktiv you can have on 2/3 the main screen like the map and on the rest you can scroll trough the other screens like music, calendar, weather and lots more wich you can configure too. Try it out when you have one next time ;). I drive an Ioniq EV with a gen5 screen and it looks very similar, so i think it will work on the Elantra too.

8:20 I think it's worthwhile to mention that Albert Biermann, who used to be the jefe for M division, had been leading the N division under Hyundai as the head of R&D, which led to some similarities in directions they were heading to. Regardless, a pretty cool car when spotted on the street but would never buy cheapass myself one LOL

Glad Doug touched on the awd comparison. We’ve got a nice snowfall on the east coast this morning and my WRX is plenty up to the task. I really like the Elantra N but the only thing I might trade my WRX for would be the upcoming awd Corolla GR hatch.

Yup if you are living in a place where it rains and snows then performance fwd car is a waste of money, also if I cant do a obvious donut or nice drift/skid in a sporty car that should be fun then it is not fullfilling it's point of existence.

If only this was available in something other than FWD, I’d consider getting one. Doug compared this to the WRX and honestly this looks better than the new WRX, even if most people will just think it’s a riced out Elantra. Edit: I really don’t understand why so many people seem personally offended by this. I’m not saying FWD cars can’t be good, it’s just not what I personally look for in a car and it would’ve been better if they offered more options.
