So I just hit with my friend's Pro Staff 97 v12 (with cv) and loved it! It was strung @ 52 lb w Alu Power 1.15. It was just nice and fairly soft... softer than I remember from the last time I demo'd a Pro Staff 97 v12. How much of a difference do you think I'll feel with the new v13 without the cv? Will I feel more of the impact? Thanks.

After 2 years with PS 97 (I used three custom stick 340 gr. strung), I switch to Blade V7 with lot of customization. PS97 very unstable then balls landing on lower side of sweet spot. And this situation is very often if you topspin the ball or you swing is little bit late. On 1.46 of this video you can saw this situation. )) Also racket very sensitive to strings. Perfect feeling with natgut on main ang poly on cross, but lifetime this combination is 5-7 hours, or one training on clay. Another combination of string (I tried a LOT) is not good anouth. Also you need beat on maximum if you want feel all benefits of this racket. Choose PS 97 If You so precise like Roger, but Roger has a disruptions too. How many players on ATP or WTA play with this stick? Answer: G. Dimitrov (custom RF 18x17).

I think putting a leather grip on a blade with make it like a more flexible and powerful pro staff.

Definitely plays differently than both the PS with Countervail and the PS without - not sure if those are versions 11 or 12 or... in any case, the update to the version 13 is great!!! Played my first match yesterday and am totally loving the new PS. Braided whatever, pocketing whatever - am noticing great feel, experiencing less impact, and control is awesome. Props to Wilson for the update! Thanks for the video!

Hello TW Team! Hopefully Chris can answer me this one. Generally, dwell time is obtained by more twist weight from the layup distribution (more or stiffer graphite, at 3/9, or 10/2) and/or flex. Also the orientation of the layup has changed with the Braid 45, changing the feel. But often times saying “more feel” is quite blurry and left to own interpretation. How would you describe the new feel of the v13? Less initial shock? A longer lasting feedback vibration? How would you describe it?

Thx 😊 Michelle If this new one in October 2020 is the V13, then the previous one was the V12.. correct? Question on the std 315g models.. for a tight budget.. As good as the v13 is, not sure the changes warrant to price difference Thx 🙏 again

@tenniswarehouse 3 года назад
@GallicGarlic, Correct! And the Countervail was before that (I am pretty sure!). If you had the Countervail version, I would suggest checking out the new one! But if your v12 is in good shape, maybe grab a demo and see if it feels worth a switch to you! The pocketing is a nice update! Michelle, TW

Hi TW fam How is the rf 97 compared to blade 18x20 v7? In terms of control, power, spin. I know feel might be better on the blade cause of the stiffness rating, but if using nat gut hybrid setup, which would you pick?
@tenniswarehouse
@tenniswarehouse 3 года назад
The obvious difference is 35 grams of weight. Besides that, just based on feel, the Blade is softer, more flexible feeling, giving it some added ball pocketing. The RF97 is fairly firm on contact, and a bit more rigid feeling. Both are stable feeling frames, but the RF97 is extremely stable feeling with the 340 grams, swingweight, and stiffness. It really just comes down to personal preference, I might go with the Blade 98 and add some weight to it, specifically in the handle, mostly because I have typically used a bit more flexible frame over the years. That said, if you ask Michelle, who gravitates to a firmer racquet, she'll pick the RF97 every time. Troy, TW

We don't have that racquet in our inventory, so unfortunately won't be reviewing that one. Also, as a "team" racquet, we typically don't review the lower price-point racquets. That said, we did really enjoy playtesting this one: www.tennis-warehouse.com/Wilson_Pro_Staff_SixOne_100_v13/descpageRCWILSON-WPS610.html. Troy, TW

What are the differences between the old LS and the new L? Thanks in advance!!
@tenniswarehouse
@tenniswarehouse 3 года назад
The main difference is the string pattern with this 97L being a more dense 16x19, giving more control, and bit lower launch angle. The 97LS is a more spin friendly 18x16 pattern, and high launch angle. Besides that this update to the 97L is a bit firmer, and has a bit more feel for the ball. Troy, TW

imo the pro staff is stiffer and low powered and heavier so you have to generate your own spin. both have 16x19 spacing which allows for more pocketing but the blade's launch angle and swing pattern allows for easier access to spin with a faster swing. I felt like i was not getting consistent contact with the blade but both feel and play amazing. it also just depends if you want precision and control (pro staff) over the closest thing to a perfect all around racquet (blade)
@javace79
@javace79 3 года назад
Blade is more head heavy with a higher swing weight, IMO geared towards modern strokes. Pro Staff seems a little easier to hit a one handed backhand with for me. Pro Staff has a classic stiff feeling, while the new blade is definitely more flexible with the feelflex tech borrowed from the clash.
@tenniswarehouse
@tenniswarehouse 3 года назад
Some things that were mentioned above, but yes a more headlight and maneuverable feel with this Pro Staff 97, a firmer feel, but also feels a bit lower in power. The Blade 98 16x19 v7 offers more flex, a bit more feel for the ball as it gives that feeling of a slightly longer dwell time, and a heftier feel giving more plow through. Spin is fairly comparable, but maybe a bit easier access with the Blade 16x19, now that the Pro Staff 97 has a bit tighter string spacing. Troy, TW

@tenniswarehouse 3 года назад
@bill fot, Maybe I misunderstood - the 2020 Pro Staff 97 is a new racquet and is not the same as any of the previous Pro Staff 97s. Version 13 stands on it's own. However, the previous all black (non CV) one is the same racquet as that red/black version (nonCV). Hope that makes sense! Michelle, TW

Can you tell Wilson Ps v13 or Babolat pure strike 18*20 Gen 3, which one is gives more spin, control?
@tenniswarehouse
@tenniswarehouse 2 года назад
For spin and control, we would give the edge to the Pro Staff 97 v13. The Pure Strike 18x20 3rd Gen packs a bit more punch and plow through, and less spin friendly in comparison. Troy, TW

v13 340g vs v1- also 340g weigh different when strung and grip is added. ?normal
@tenniswarehouse
@tenniswarehouse Год назад
When you mention "v1", I assume you are referring to version 10, which was the RF97 Autograph, red/black cosmetic, and came stock with the tan/orange colored leather grip? And yes, 340 grams is the target spec of the unstrung frame, which can fluctuate slightly based on mass production. Also, once string the frame, and apply an overgrip, it will add weight to the racquet, usually about 17 grams or so for the string, and about roughly 5 grams or so for an overgrip. Troy, TW

Whats the differences Wilson Pro Staff 91 v13 & Pro Staff 91 v12
@tenniswarehouse
@tenniswarehouse 3 года назад
I believe you are referring to the Pro Staff 97 (not 91). If so, the v13 offers a bit more control, and feel, and a bit better feedback on contact. Wilson made the string spacing slightly tighter on the v13, and updated the braid of graphite/aramid fibers within the frame. The v12 felt a bit more dampened, or muted on contact, and was slightly more spin friendly. Not huge differences, but slight tweaks that are noticeable to the trained racquet tester. Troy, TW
@ethanmorales7265
@ethanmorales7265 3 года назад
@@tenniswarehouse I have the v13 as my main racquet, would the previous generation as a back up (in case of a broken string) be a noticeable difference?
@tenniswarehouse
@tenniswarehouse 3 года назад
@@ethanmorales7265, If you are a serious competitor, and play tournaments and what not, then you would likely want the same racquet as your back-up, and even further want the specs matched for both racquets. If you are not so serious, and not too picky on the subtle differences, you can likely play with either of the two. So maybe it is more of a question to ask yourself...Troy, TW
