We make these in Greece almost the same way but add a touch of vinegar and it really gives them a fantastic taste. We usually cook okra with chicken. We leave the okra in a bowl with water and vinegar overnight and it helps get rid of some of the slime although having some 'slime' helps thicken the sauce in my opinion. One of my favorite dishes but I know its not popular with a lot of people lol!

Thanks for all the good info, Recently I was diagnosed with diabetes, my A1C was 14.5 and my sugar was 490, I didn’t even know it, I quickly made major changes to my diet and exercise. It been 2 months my new A1C is 8.1. And daily sugar has been between 67- 134, even during vacation and my birthday. Watching and learning each day. Okra is one of my favorite vegetables, sauté it with olive oil, turmeric, red chili, salt, or make a lentil soup with okra in it. My goal is to reverse my diabetes but most people are telling me that is not possible, I am in a mission. Thanks for all the info

You can reverse it! If u want faster, totally cut off sugar n rice n ur reading will drop to 3 or 4. From there, u can slowly step by step stary to add rice (daily) n take dishes dat has sugar added or 2x weeklycake biscuit dessert. You can live n eat normal like other people. Set a limit. If u overdo it just back off a little n dun let reading go over 6

Gumbo is an African word for okra. In S. Louisiana, I grew up eating okra we picked fresh. It's good fried, boiled, on top of lequmes, and smothered with tomato and onion. We ate collard, mustard, and turnip greens and occationally wild poke (tastes like spinach but needs parboiling to remove toxins). I'm 70 and hardly sick throughout my life. Being raised alongside livestock probably helps, too. It's not about living long but staying healthy while you live. edit to add pickled okra.

I'm from Brazil and okra is very common here. We eat them I stews, sautéed, baked or just boiled. It's really great.

We Dominican people love to eat okra. We prepare them different ways. I love to steam and I cut lots of purple onion, red peppers, a small pinch of salt, and white vinegar. When is done I add extra virgen olive oil. Delicious👍You can prepare also with the plum tomatoes. Serve with brown rice.

I put okra in my green smoothie. Another excellent bitter green I eat and grow is bitter melon. I also grew the ones without the bitter taste. These are the new ones I got from a friend.

You have to clean or scrape the Okra skin with a small knife. You can remove the spikes & slime in Okra.

Could you be a little more specific about how to use the lemon? Is it lemon juice? At what point and how do you add it to the okra? I've never heard of mango powder. Sounds interesting though.

Dr. Gundry: Thanks for these tips! Long ago, I used to have a fabulous recipe for Okra which was a vegan "tuna-fish" style salad spread highlighting the lovely "slime nature" of okra in a very delicious way. The "slime" simply held the mixture together like mayo might do in the more traditional recipe. Long story short, I lost this outrageously fabulous recipe and no one seems to recall when it was popular, as there are now other items used to mock tuna in the vegan community, and people in the keto or health communities generally don't like okra to develop or discover great okra recipes. Might you or your staff know of the recipe or how to find it?

You can potentially catch the virus through sex. If you receive oral sex from a person with HSV-1, there's a risk that the virus could make its way into your body through their saliva. When you acquire HSV-1 through oral sex, it leads to genital herpes rather than just cold sores. I'm speaking from experience because this was exactly how I got the herpes simplex virus, but thank God I came across THE SEVEN DAYS FAST CURE FOR HERPES 1&2 on RU-vid where I got the complete cure for my genital herpes

Thank you Dr. Steven G. Your video is very informative. Yes, I used to eat okra but in addition to that bitter melon fruit and leaves is effective for me in controling my sugar since I am a pre-diabetic. I you don't mine, next time your topic would be foods best for arthrities. Thank you. God bless you.

Thanks for posting this video guide on vegetables. Friendly feedback: it would help if you could include corresponding pictures of the vegetables as you mention them, as some vegetables are called different names in other countries e.g. (purple colour) brinjal in UK is called eggplant in US
