I currently take magnesium and have for years. Tried berberine various times and it never helped -- once I bought the phytosome version and felt horrible, my blood sugar was actually higher, and my HRV was in the gutter. Have also tried chromium several different time to no avail. Tried Inositol a long time ago, and not in the doses you mentioned so I might give it a try again. Have taken Gaba for sleep, but never tried it during the day, so that's another one I may try.

Kait, I'm a 59 out of shape man and I've been coming to you off and on for over a year now. With all those here on You Tube claiming this and that about health, it gets exhausting trying to find someone you can connect with and trust their info. Time is too precious to be wasting on those who just like to hear the sound of their voice. You sound legit. You feel legit. I've researched you and watched several videos and you genuinely want to help heal. No irritating music. Your story with personal struggles. You connect. I really appreciate it. I've taken my T2D much more seriously over the last 5 months. I failed at IF a few times, but it's funny...the body remembers those failures. I'm now on my 3rd month of OMAD. Very very low carb diet with good proteins and fats to combat long term hunger. Between 80 to 100 oz of water daily. Always hated water...now I can't get enough. Walking....hated that too....still do, but honestly....I just don't want to drop dead from something I can control so the excuses just stopped. Started Berberine a month ago with Magnesium. I refuse to go on Metformin as a band-aid. I can't believe I don't get hungry till like the 21st - 22nd hour. I push through the last 2 with just a bump in water. My body really got used to it. Blood work on the 6th of Aug. I want to thank you and your followers for such open and insightful comments.😁

My 1st meal was the lighter of the two just because I was hungry. Now the second was the heavy one. Loaded with dense protein mix. Salmon, fowl and some beef. Avocado good fats. Eat till your a little more than full. Peaches are good for that final taste...low GL index fruit. After about a month your system has learned the new regiment, then you knock off another hour after another 1-2 months. I did 20:4 for 3 months. The key is making sure you get as many GOOD calories from protein and good fats....it takes forever to digest....very little hunger. I still get a little for about 5-10 mins, just drop 8-12 oz of water. Never think about your next meal...just let it come. Amazing how the body learns. I started over like 6-7 times, but it got easier every time. Your body remembers what you were trying to do. Stick with it....the benefits are wonderful. No more brain fog (God, that used to really scare me) I thought I had early onset Dementia. Really I didn't think I could do it...most people think like that, but we doom ourselves from the start just thinking like that. Really glad your doing it. We can only learn....by failing. In 2018 I also began taking Berberine and my A1c dropped and has stayed in the range of 4.9 - 5.2 ever since…taking 500mg 3 times daily. This year my doctor reduced my metformin to once daily, and my recent A1c rose to 5.6…but I also had not been watching my diet as carefully while on vacation. Another notable change, after beginning Berberine, was my high cholesterol numbers dropped significantly, as well, to the high end of the normal ranges, which was good since after 3 days on a statin, I ending up in the hospital with pancreatitis.

Berberine definitely worked but it caused severe constipation so I couldn’t continue. Inisotol helped my pcos, that was great. I also take Gymnema sylvestra which has been good. By the way, I'm taking dihydroberberine as to just normal berberine. The absorption rate is much higher into the gut lining and much less distress on the gut. You also only take less and it stays in the blood much longer.10 to 15 % better results also.

I've had good luck with berberine. Fiber is also something that tends to be lacking in our diet, but affects blood glucose levels. I've had good luck with psyllium. (I take about 14 g a day.) While I try to eat protein when I get sugar cravings, psyllium has greatly reduced sugar cravings, while also slowing glycemic response and reducing glucose levels.

I've tried all of these supplements. I'm diabetic, so I track my blood sugar and carbs. I notice my insulin resistance increases when I don't get enough sleep, exercise, eat a lot of sugar for several days in a row and sometimes because it's just that point in my menstrual cycle. Eating a lot of dairy increases my insulin resistance. Going super low carb for several days increases my insulin resistance too. Magnesium put an end to itchy/twitch calf muscles when I'm trying to go to sleep, but hasn't impacted my insulin sensitivity noticeably. Berberine is awesome! Not as effective as metformin (at least at the dosages I take/have tried), but also less (none) gastrointestinal effects. Cinnamon extract has also had a noticeable effect, although news of various brands of the spice testing positive for lead gives me the willies. Inositol didn't have a noticeable effect on my insulin sensitivity. Chromium hasn't had a noticeable effect on my insulin sensitivity. I tried GABA, but not for long and didn't notice any effect on my insulin sensitivity or my sleep. Strength training, even not particularly strenuous strength training, lowers my insulin resistance for several days afterward. Gentle cardio is good for me, I'm sure, but doesn't make a big difference in my insulin resistance over the course of a day. However, gentle cardio does make a huge difference to my blood sugar if I do it immediately after eating a carb-heavy meal, so very short-term improvement in insulin use. Strenuous cardio drives blood sugar down so effectively in the short term that I crave carbs, give in to the cravings and wind up with higher blood sugar than before the exercise. Which is not to say, I disapprove of running, swimming, etc. but I approach it with caution and low expectations my choices afterwards.

I've been taking supplements for over 25 years and Berberine takes the bag! Keep in mind that MOST ingredients have potency levels (10-97% for example for Berberine) More isn't always better, however, with Berberine it's far more effective over 50%. You will see results from lowering glucose to impacting lipids and even improving brain function. In roughly 45 days my LDLs went down from 140mg/dl to 94mg/dl which is astounding. Do some research on it, she is right, there are countless compelling clinical studies on it's wide range of benefits.

I take berberine and after 3 month nothing happen...My sugar level are the same...I eat a clean, healthy diet. low in carbs.... plenty of protein and fats.....go to the gym 5 days a week and go out running/walking fast. I have been working out all my life. I have no idea why. I am going to see an endocrinologist to figure out what is causing this situation...also I take apple cider vinegar and Alpo lipoic acid....frustrating...................MINDY

Try eating some carbs, sugar level will go low after taking Berberine. The first time I took berberine, nothing happens because I eat no carbs. Later I realise I need to eat some carbs.

Berberine does not work for everyone. You have to find the root cause of your insulin problem. Some people it’s harder to bring down their AC1

I take 1000 to 1500 mg of Berberine daily. My glucose testing has gone from 129 to 115-117. How long is it safe to take Berberine? I try to watch my carbs & have to be on gluten free because of Hashimotos, but at age 77, it is very hard to make some dietary changes. I love my toaster waffles for breakfast. I found some gluten free that are tolerable. I don't put syrup on them, just a little butter & cinnamon powder, no sugar. Is this still too many carbs? I am usually up 2 hours before I eat breakfast. I know I have insulin resistance but is my thyroid hindering my progress?

I am confused. I take a magnesium blend and on the bottle it has all these numbers then in the smaller print says 250mg of elemental magnesium. I assume that is similar to your 250-300 mg. Then berberine supplements have all kinds of wording about extracted to 28%, blah, blah, blah. The research I have read usually uses 1500 mg of berberine, where do you find 100% pure berberine like the kind in the studies. How do I figure out if the berberine mg is a measure of the strength or the amount of material in the capsule.

Berberine can lower BP because it is a diuretic. Also a mild vaso-dialator. Make sure that you stay hydrated while on berberine. Also, lower your berberine dose. It also has antiparasitic properties. It does a lot.
